RESUMO

Hydrogen sulfide balneotherapy paralleled with thymogen (an immunocorrector) therapy improved clinical and immunologic characteristics, ruled out disease recurrences and exacerbations during 12 months after the treatment, and increased the number of pregnancies by 2.5 times in infertile patients.

RESUMO

The results of immunologic studies of different groups of workers engaged in the microbiologic synthesis production are presented. The study reveals a very important role of the immune system in the development of various forms of diseases. Differentiated shifts in various chains of cellular and humoral immunity have been identified in practically healthy people and in patients with occupational diseases both in acute condition and at the remittance stage. These shifts are specified by the form and stage of the disease, length of service at the given enterprise and individual immunity characteristics. By means of using immunograms it is possible to select patients with stable, adequate immune type enabling one to go on working at the industrial enterprise without any significant pathologic changes in the body.

RESUMO

A study was made of the indices of hemodynamics, the immune status and thiol-disulfide system of the blood of cancer patients subjected to artificial total hyperthermia-hyperglycemia. The authors revealed the phase nature of the body response to total hyperthermia resulting in stimulation of the body adaptation mechanisms with a tendency to the normalization of disturbed homeostatic parameters. The effect of total hyperthermia in cancer therapy depended not only on the factor of selective temperature damage of tumor cells but also on the competence of the system of nonspecific body resistance.

RESUMO

Clinical observations of 31 patients have shown that levamisole promotes the improvement of immunological indices in patients with chronic postoperative osteomyelitis. In a group of patients treated with levamisole good results were obtained in 84%, while in the group of patients treated without levamisole good results were obtained in 63,9%.

RESUMO

The changes in immunologic indexes were studied in 90 cancer patients treated with artificial whole body hyperthermia and hyperglycemia. The changes of the indexes under study showed a double-phase curve after a hyperthermic session--the phase of "heat shock aftermath" involving a short-term decline in certain immunologic indexes was followed by a general improvement of immunologic vigor of cancer patients. Different components of cancer patient immunologic system reacted differently to whole body hyperthermia.

RESUMO

Macrophagal transformation of mononuclear cells of peripheral blood was evaluated quantitatively in vitro. The study group included 60 patients with breast cancer stages II-IV and 50 healthy subjects. Transformation of mononuclear cells to macrophages in breast cancer patients, particularly, in advanced cases, was found to be reduced, as compared with healthy controls. The serum of cancer patients contains an inhibitor of this process. This was confirmed by mononuclear cell transformation being inhibited both in patients and controls on addition of the serum of cancer patients to both cultures. The function of tumor patients' cells was partially restored, when serum of healthy controls was added. It is suggested to use macrophagal transformation as a test for immunologic examination of tumor patients.

RESUMO

The distribution of transplantation HL-A antigens in 124 patients (cancer of the stomach, mammary glands, the large intestine, the lung, skeletal sarcoma) was studied in microlymphocyte toxic reaction. A comparison with the results of the analogous examination of healthy persons dwelling in Leningrad indicated certain differences in the frequency of encountering some antigens, and the absence of HLA-B18 antigen among patients. Most frequently (in 62%) an "incomplete set" of antigens was found in a group of patients, antigens typical for the whole locus (more frequently "B") being absent in 7.3%. In 6.4% "extra" (live or more) HL-A antigens were noted. The use of adaptive immunotherapy would significantly change antigenic spectrum of lymphocytes in patients.
