[Parameters of oxidative metabolism, neuro-humoral and hormonal regulation in the condensed exhaled air in early stages of anthracosilicosis]. / Pokazateli okislitel'nogo metabolizma, neirogumoral'noi i gormonal'noi reguliatsii v kondensate vydykhaemogo vozdukha pri rannikh stadiiakh antrakosilikoza.

For early diagnosis of anthracosilicosis, the authors studied oxidation parameters, neuromediators and hormones in expired air condensate in coal miners. Premorbid stage of anthracosilicosis is characterized by activated lipids peroxidation, high levels of neuromediators (acetylcholine, catecholamines), tissue hormones (histamine, serotonine) and lower contents of adaptive hormones (cortisol, triiodothyronine, thyroxine).

[The informational significance of metal bioaccumulation in the hair of preschool children]. / Informatsionnoe znachenie biokumuliatsii metallov v volosakh u detei doshkol'nogo vozrasta.

Hair and urine metal accumulation was studied in healthy children living in different pollution areas. The levels of biogenic amines, the activity of the enzymes LDH, AP, and cholinesterase were also determined in the exhaled air condensate (EAC) and urine. High accumulation of metals, low EAC levels of biogenic amines, high activity of the urine enzymes were observed in the children residing in high polluted areas. At the same time these changes were less marked in the moderately polluted areas. The revealed changes allow one to select children at risk and to make health-promoting measures.

[Long-term effect of coal and rock dust on the changes of some biochemical parameters in miners]. / Izmenenie nekotorykh biokhimicheskikh pokazatelei u shakhterov pri dlitelnom vozdeistvii ugolno-porodnoi pyli.

The study revealed those changes in connective tissue components and validity of alveolar macrophages in bronchial lavage, which were in correlation with duration and severity of exposure to coal and rock dust. The data proved that roentgenologio changes in the lungs are preceded by changed quantity of viable alveolar cells, higher content of hexauronic acids and hexoses associated with proteins. The stated biochemical tests could be applied to early diagnosis in individuals prone to pneumoconiosis.

[Structure and biochemical parameters of glycoconjugates of alveolar macrophages exposed to fibrogenic dusts]. / Strukturno-biokhimicheskaia kharakteristika glikokoniugatov alveoliarnykh makrofagov pri deistvii fibrogennykh pylei.

Changes in the metabolism of rat alveolar macrophages exposed to quartz and coal dusts were studied by biochemical methods. The intratracheal administration of quartz and coal dusts in 6 hours induced the augmented storage of glycoproteins on the cell surface and the increased lysosomal enzymes (beta-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase) activities. The quartz dust also induced the decrease of hexauronic acids level. The interaction of macrophage with the fibrogenic dust (quartz) may cause severe disorders in the balance of carbohydrate constituents of glycocalyx, which impairs the vitality of alveolar macrophages.
