RESUMO

Results of investigations on the efficacy of splenin as an immunomodulator in the complex treatment of 70 patients with cancer of the rectum revealed its favourable effect on the T- and B-systems of immunity. It was found that immunotherapy effected favourably the immunological properties of the body and this was also supported by clinical data. This makes it possible to recommend splenin as in immunomodulator in the complex treatment of patients with cancer of the rectum.

RESUMO

The study is concerned with immunologic status (cell-mediated and humoral immunity) as a factor influencing the choice of scheme of treatment for carcinoma of cervix uteri. The indexes of immunocompetence should be taken into account in planning the differential treatment of precancer and early forms of carcinoma of cervix uteri. Radiation treatment exerts an immunosuppressive effect. However, immunologic indexes are not affected considerably by laser destruction or surgery. Cryodestruction has a beneficial effect on cell-mediated immunity. Considering these effects as well as the long-term results of different procedures of treatment, laser coagulation, cryogenic destruction or diathermoconization should be recommended for management of carcinoma in situ of cervix uteri, and extensive extirpation of the uterus, unattended by radiation, for Tla.

RESUMO

Oxidative phosphorylation in the mice liver mitochondria with chemical carcinogenesis was studied as affected by thymosine. It is found that under chemical carcinogenesis the energy metabolism (fraction III) lowered and administration of thymosine in the early periods of carcinogenesis favoured an increase in the indices up to the control level. In the late period of carcinogenesis the mentioned effect was not observed. The favourable effect of thymosine on the oxidative phosphorylation was associated with an increase in the immunological indices in the animals under experiment. It is supposed that the activity of thymosine as a hormonal factor includes participation in the energy metabolism regulation.
