RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To establish the relationship between disturbances of the regime and quality of night sleep and daytime sleepiness in adolescents from Central Siberia with internet addiction with different types of content consumed. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A single cross-sectional observational study of a school sample in three large cities in Siberia was performed. The study included 4615 schoolchildren aged 12-18 years (46.2% boys and 53.8% girls, average age 14.58±0.02 years). To identify Internet addiction and its types the following tests were used: the Chen scale (CIAS), adapted by V.L. Malygin and K.A. Feklisov; Russian-language versions of the Game Addiction Scale for Adolescents and the Social Media Disorder Scale. Questions from the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were used to assess nighttime sleep. Daytime sleepiness was assessed by the Pediatric Daytime Sleepiness Scale (PDSS). RESULTS: Adolescents with Internet addiction are characterized by late going to bed (p<0.001), late awakening (p=0.016), a decrease in the duration of night sleep (p=0.004), an increase in the time to fall asleep and frequent nighttime awakenings (p=0.017), and more pronounced daytime sleepiness (p<0.001). CONCLUSION: Internet-addicted adolescents are characterized by significant disturbances in the quality of night sleep, which requires appropriate psychological and pedagogical correction.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the prevalence of Internet addiction (IA) in adolescents in Central Siberia and the association of IA with mental health problems. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study included 2950 adolescents (44.7% boys and 54.3% girls), aged 11-18 years (mean age 14.5±1.3). Younger adolescents (11-14 years old) accounted for 52.4%, senior ones (15-18 years old) did 47.6%. The Chen scale (CIAS) with a cutoff level of 65 points was used to evaluate IA. The overall CIAS value of 27-42 points was regarded to be adaptive Internet use (AIU); 43-64 points being non-adaptive Internet use (NIU); 65 points and above were considered to be IA. Mental health was assessed using SDQ, which includes five scales: 1) prosocial behavior; 2) emotional symptoms; 3) behavior problems; 4) hyperactivity; 5) peer problems. RESULTS: The prevalence of AIU is 50.3% (55.9% among boys and 45.6% among girls, p<0.01), NIU was found in 42.9% (38.9/46.3%, p<0.001), IA occurred in 6.8% (5.1/8.2%, p<0.001). The prevalence of IA among adolescents, aged 11-14 years old, was 5.9%, between the ages of 15-18 it was 7.8% (p=0.04). In the AIU group, emotional symptom** were observed in 5.1% of adolescents, behavior problems in 6.1%, hyperactivity in 3.6%; in the NIU group - in 14.9%, 11.7% and 9.4% of adolescents; in the IA group, there were 34%, 24% and 26% of adolescents, respectively. In terms of odds ratio (OR), the greatest effect size was observed for hyperactivity (OR=5.23, p<0.001) and emotional disorders (OR=4.85, p<0001). CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of IA is 6.8%. IA is more common in girls and increases with age. IA is associated with mental health problems, the greatest effect size is observed for hyperactivity and emotional disorders. The incidence of psychopathological manifestations increases depending on the degree of impairment in network behavior.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the frequency of borderline mental disorders in children of secondary general education schools. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We examined 1013 male and female schoolchildren, aged 12-14 and 15-17 years. In the first stage, the they completed a screening questionnaire to estimate the presence of a range of psychosomatic syndromes. An analysis of medical history and clinical examination were performed as well. The second stage included medical examination using DAWBA for the children with total scores on The Strengths and Difficulty questionnaire ≥ 16; with the score ≥ 6 on the emotional scale and with the score ≤ 5 on the social scale. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Generalized anxiety and depression were recorded more often in girls than in boys. Every 4-th adolescent (26.1%), regardless of gender, had problems in communication with peers. At the same time, boys showed conduct disturbances more often (p = 0.005) than girls (23.3% and 16.3%, respectively). Depression syndrome was 6.1 times more frequent in adolescents of the older group as compared with younger children (p = 0.024). Depression was associated with chronic headache (68.6% of children, mostly in girls and in the older group), abdominal pain (37.3%, mostly in girls) and back pain (39.2%).

RESUMO

For the determination of haemodynamic indices during the period of in adaptation in children there was examined 271 schoolboy from the gymnasium of the city of Krasnoyarsk There was studied the dynamics of haemodynamic indices in the course of adaptation, there were detected the degree of influence of haemodynamic indices on the process of adaptation, there were revealed features of haemodynamic indices in children with the various forecast of a course of adaptation. Children with the unfavorable forecast of adaptation to school had according to data of cardiorhythmography (CRG) low values of power in a range of slow waves during the period of restoration of the orthostatic test that testifies to the raised tone of sympathetic nervous system. There were established the correlation interrelationships of the forecast of adaptation of children to school with changed (raised, lowered) level of arterial pressure and Robinson's index value.

RESUMO

Three hundred and two Krasnoyarsk gymnasium students were examined to define criteria for determining the adaptation to high schooling loads. The values of the emotional status and adaptive processes were studied in children with varying resistance and varying mastering capacities; the impact of cardiovascular parameters on their adaptive process was defined The criteria for estimating the adaptation to high schooling loads were the presence or absence of acute chills and neurotic reactions, cardiovascular performance, and psychoemotional status.

RESUMO

The effectiveness of prophylactic vitamin administration to schoolchildren in the Arctic region was evaluated in the biochemical investigation of schoolchildren by the assay of vitamins C, A, E, B1, B2, B6, B12 and folic acid in their blood serum before and after "Undevitum" intake. Deficiency of a number of vitamins was detected. It was shown that regular consumption of multivitamin "Undevitum" produced a positive effect on the parameters of their physical activity, the highest effect was observed in children with the normotensive reaction to loading, and it was less expressed in those with pathological hemodynamic reactions to the loading.
