@#AIM: To observe and analyze the efficacy of Conbercept combined with 577nm yellow subliminal micropulse laser photocoagulation in the treatment of macular edema(ME)secondary to ischemic branch retinal vein occlusion(BRVO).<p>METHODS: Totally 71 patients(71 eyes)diagnosed as ME secondary to ischemic BRVO during the period from March 2016 to March 2019 were retrospectively included, and they were divided into laser group(<i>n</i>=33, 33 eyes)and combined group(<i>n</i>=38, 38 eyes)according to the different treatment methods. The patients in the laser group all received 577nm yellow subliminal micropulse laser photocoagulation, and the patients in the combined group all received Conbercept combined with 577nm yellow subliminal micropulse laser photocoagulation. The best corrected visual acuity(BCVA), central macular thickness(CMT)and total macular volume(TMV)were compared between the two groups before treatment and at 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 and 12mo after surgery, and the therapeutic efficacy was observed and the occurrence of complications were recorded.<p>RESULTS:There were statistically significant differences in the BCVA, CMT and TMV between the two groups before and after treatment(<i>P</i><0.05), and the BCVA, CMT and TMV in the two groups at 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 and 12mo after treatment were significantly lower than those before treatment(<i>P</i><0.05), and the differences between the two groups were statistically significant(<i>P</i><0.05). During follow-up, there were 30 eyes with once laser photocoagulation, 7 eyes with twice and 1 eye with 3 times in combined group, and there were 16 eyes with once laser photocoagulation, 14 eyes with twice and 3 eyes with 3 times in laser group(<i>Z</i>=2.670, <i>P</i><0.05). There were 3 eyes of corneal epithelial exfoliation on the 1d after vitreous injection in combined group, and the symptoms disappeared after symptomatic treatment. All patients did not have serious complications such as persistent intraocular pressure increase, retinal detachment and intraocular inflammation.<p>CONCLUSION: Conbercept combined with 577nm yellow subliminal micropulse laser photocoagulation has a significant efficacy in the treatment of ME secondary to ischemic BRVO, and it can effectively improve the visual acuity and promote the macular edema absorption, and it is safe and reliable.

In this paper, silver micro/nanostructures composed of sintered nanoparticles were printed by capturing silver nanoparticles in water with 800 nm femtosecond laser trapping. Relationships of laser power, scanning speed, nanoparticle concentration, and the width and morphology of fabricated silver wire were systematically investigated. It is found that low scanning speed and high nanoparticle concentration favor the printing of silver wire with good morphology. A silver wire with width of 305 nm was printed. Electrical resistivities of printed wires are about 24 times that of bulk silver. Silver grid structures and dot arrays were printed by using this technology. Several three-dimensional silver cuboid structures were also printed. This work provides a protocol for printing of three-dimensional metallic micro/nanostructures using laser trapping. These printed structures have great application prospects in metamaterials, flexible electronics, and SERS.

One potential way to fabricate battery-on-chip is photopatterning electrochemical energy storage materials directly on electronics through lithography, but applicable materials are primarily limited to transparent photocurable resins. The transparency of the photoresist would be sacrificed after extra addition of insoluble inorganic battery materials and conductors. Given the importance of radical polymers for their appropriate solubility, optical transparency, and radical robustness, they may have potential application in on-chip energy storage, transport, and conversion devices. Herein, an anodic photoresist is proposed by modifying the MicroChem SU8 resist with a radical polymer poly(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidinyl-N-oxyl methacrylate) and an ionic conductor lithium perchlorate. It can be photopatterned on silicon wafer with 10 µm scale resolution, and it exhibits charge/discharge potentials at ca. 0.68 V versus silver chloride electrode; the coulomb efficiency is regarded as nearly equaling 100%. Although the specific capacity of the photopatterned film electrode is found to be modest, 1 × 10-5 mA h·cm-2, it presents 1/8 of its theoretical electron storage ability. All-solid-state half-cells with circular features 30 µm in diameter are prepared by means of overlay exposure using the as-prepared photoresist and lithium perchlorate-modified SU8 as the anodic electrode and solid electrolyte, respectively. These results suggest a promising way of using radical polymers for the integration of electrochemical energy in microelectronics.

Objective: To explore the effect of Feng-liao-chang-wei-kang (FLCWK) on acute and chronic gastroenteritis, synergistic effect on the growth inhibitory effect with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) on colorectal cancer and its underlying mechanisms. Methods: In the in vitro study, HT-29 cells were divided into 5-FU alone, FLCWK alone and coadministration groups. The MTT assay was used to analyze the proliferation of HT-29 cells at 24 h. Flow cytometry was used to observe the apoptosis, cycle of colorectal cancer HT-29 cells at 24 h. In the in vivo experiment, The subcutaneous transplantation tumor model of colorectal cancer HT-29-Luc was established with nude mice. All mice were randomly divided into 5-FU alone, FLCWK alone and coadministration groups according to body weight. During administration, the Interactive Video Information System small animal live imaging system was used to monitor the growth of subcutaneous transplantation in nude mice. The model of colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CACC) was established with BALB/c mice. BALB/c mice were randomly divided into the normal control group, the model control group, and the FLCWK group. At the end of the administration, the pathological status was detected by HE staining. Cell apoptosis of tumor tissue tumor and colon tissues were observed by TUNEL staining and TUNEL green fluorescence. The protein expression of Caspase 3, p-STAT3, Bcl-2, Bax and P-gp in tumor tissues tumor and colon tissues were tested by using immunohistochemical assay. Results: FLCWK and 5-FU coadministration suppressed HT-29 cell viability and induced S phase arrest and apoptosis compared to treatment with 5-FU alone. Furthermore, compared to treatment with 5-FU alone, coadministration of FLCWK and 5-FU obviously reduced tumor volume and weight and induced apoptosis through decreasing p-STAT3 and P-gp and increasing Caspase 3 protein expression in a murine xenograft tumor model. Moreover, the result revealed decreased number and size of tumors following FLCWK protective administration, downregulated p-STAT3 and Bcl-2 levels and upregulated Bax and Caspase 3 expression in mice with CACC. Conclusions: FLCWK has synergistic effects with 5-FU on colorectal cancer by suppressing the STAT3 pathway and downregulating P-gp expression. Furthermore, FLCWK administration suppresses CACC tumorigenesis by inhibiting the STAT3 pathway.

Based on the study of self-Q-switching of a short cavity erbium-doped distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) fiber laser in time domain, the influence of pressure disturbance on the self-Q-switched output is analyzed. In the experiment, the erbium-doped DBR fiber laser (EDFL) was encapsulated with epoxy resin and curing agent to protect and sensitize the fiber. The EDFL sends out self-Q-switched laser pulses when the pump power of the 980 nm laser source is more than 110 mW. The external pressure is exerted on the DBR fiber and increased gradually from 0 g (0 N) to 120 g (1.176 N) in 10 g unit with the pump power fixed at 360 mW, and the following approximately linear changes of self-Q-switched laser pulses outputs are observed by the oscilloscope: the peak voltage of output pulses reduces from 12.59 mV to 1.883 mV; the pulse repetition rate reduces from 125.0 kHz to 66.67 kHz; and the pulse width increases from 0.4083 µs to 1.28 µs.

A majority of the reported electrografting of aryldiazonium salts result in the formation of covalently attached films with a limited surface coverage of below 5 nmol·cm-2. Herein, we report the preparation of higher-thickness redox-active viologen-grafted electrodes from the electroreduction of viologen phenyl diazonium salts, by either cyclic voltammetric (CV) sweeps or electrolysis using a fixed potential. Both of the methodologies were successfully applied for various conductive surfaces, including glassy carbon (GC), gold disc, indium tin oxide glass, mesoporous TiO2 electrodes, and 3D compacted carbon fibers. A robust maximal viologen coverage, Γviologen = 9.5 nmol·cm-2, was achieved on a GC electrode by CV electroreduction. Electroreduction held at a fixed potential at Eappl. = -0.3 V can fabricate viologen-grafted electrodes with Γviologen in the range of 0-37 nmol·cm-2 in a controllable way, by simply adjusting the electrodeposition time tappl.. Time-dependent Γviologen were found to be 10 nmol·cm-2@2 min, 20 nmol·cm-2@4.2 min, and 30 nmol·cm-2@7 min. Furthermore, a TiO2 electrode coupled with Γviologen of 140 nmol·cm-2 exhibited electrochromic performance, with the color changing from pale yellow to blue and red brown.

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the association of parameters in dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) using reference region model with prognostic factors and molecular subtypes of breast cancer.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>MRI and pathological data of 50 patients with pathologically confirmed invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast were retrospectively analyzed. Reference region model was applied to analyze pharmacokinetic quantitative parameters including volume transfer constant (RR K), rate constant (K) and the ratio of Kto extracellular space volume (K/V). The associations of the above parameters with prognostic factors and molecular subtypes of breast cancer were analyzed.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>RR Kand Kwere significantly higher in patients of histological grade 3 compared with those of histological grade 1 & 2 (all<0.05); and the patients with estrogen receptor (ER)-negative and/or progesterone receptor (PR)-negative also had higher RR Kand Kthan those with ER-positive or PR-positive (all<0.05). For immunohistochemistry, RR Kand Kwere significantly higher in triple negative breast cancer compared with luminal type breast cancer (all<0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>High RR Kand Kare associated with poor prognosis of breast cancer, and which can also be used to distinguish molecular subtypes of breast cancer.</p>

Chinese sturgeon (Acipenser sinensis) is a rare and endangered species and also an important resource for the sturgeon aquaculture industry. SMART cDNAs were synthesized from the ovary of A. sinensis, and the full-length cDNAs of three zona pellucida glycoprotein 3 genes (the new gene named AsZP3) were cloned and sequenced. AsZP3.1, AsZP3.2, and AsZP3.3 were 1,388 base pairs (bp), 1,288, and 1,290 bp in length, respectively, and they could be translated into proteins with 440, 394, and 398 amino acids, respectively. High level of amino acids sequence identity was seen between AsZP3.2 and AsZP3.3 (about 82%), but they share low identity with AsZP3.1 (26 and 23%, respectively). The AsZP3.1 has 42-50% amino acids sequence identity values with other fish and lower values with higher vertebrates (38%); AsZP3.2 and AsZP3.3 shared about 30-44% sequence identity with higher vertebrates and other fish. RT-PCR analysis indicated that AsZP3.1 displayed a wide tissue distribution at the mRNA levels including liver, kidney, spleen, heart, and ovary, but AsZP3.2 and AsZP3.3 mRNAs were expressed exclusively in the gonad. All three AsZP3 mRNAs were not detected during embryogenesis and early larval development; furthermore, they were not detected in the gonads of 1- and 2-year-old Chinese sturgeons. All three AsZP3 mRNAs were detected in the testes of 3-year-old males and in the ovaries of 4- and 5-year-old female Chinese sturgeons.

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To observe the clinical effect of Shengxueling (SXL) on idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), and study the possible mechanism.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Eighty-six cases of ITP were randomly divided into two groups. The SXL group, 56 patients treated with SXL, a traditinal Chinese medicine and 30 patients administered with prednisone were taken as control. Each group took drugs for 3 months and was under follow-up observation.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>In the SXL group, the total effective rate was 85.71%, similar to prednisone 83.33% (P > 0.05) for 3 months, but the total effective rate of SXL (91.07%) were obviously better than that of the control group (53.33%) (P < 0.01) for 6 months and had no obvious adverse reaction. The patients bleeding was alleviated or stopped, the general condition was improved. At the same time, blood platelet count (PLT) was increased, platelet associated immunoglobulin (PAIg) and interleukin-4 (IL-4) were markedly dropped, the level of natural killers cells activity (NKa) increased, the rate of T lymphocyte subsets gradually returned to normal level. Megakaryocyte tended to maturation on bone marrow smear after treatment. All differences above were statistically significant.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>SXL is an effective and safe medicine for ITP. Its mechanism could regulate cytoimmune, inhibit platelet antibody to reduce the destruction of platelet, increase the number of platelet, promote the division and maturation of megakaryocyte, facilitate the production and release of platelet, lower the fragility of capillary, prevent and cure hemorrhagic tendency.</p>
