RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) typically presents with a combination of sensory and motor impairments. Tremor is recognized as a common and debilitating feature in CIDP, although the underlying mechanisms are unclear. METHODS: Clinical tremor severity and disability scores were collected prospectively in 25 CIDP patients and compared with 22 neuromuscular controls. RESULTS: Postural and kinetic tremor were significantly more frequent in CIDP patients (80%) than in neuromuscular controls (35%; P < 0.005). Tremor severity and tremor-related disability were also significantly greater in CIDP patients than in controls. Accelerometry data confirmed the presence of a 5.5 Hz postural tremor and a 5 Hz kinetic tremor. CONCLUSIONS: Tremor appears to be a common clinical feature of CIDP that results in significant disability. Sensory and motor impairment may be associated with development of tremor in CIDP. RESUMO

Objective:Based on relevant database data analysis,to explore the correlation of the abnormal expression of EMT related factors and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and its related non-small cell lung cancer. Methods: Based on some data sets of GEO in the NCBI database,to perform express analysis, survival analysis and correlation analysis. Results: ①Snai1 and other EMT related regulatory factors exist significantly higher expression in non-small cell lung cancer patients, and E-cadherin (CDH1) was showed significantly lower expression. ②A large number of COPD patients samples were analyzed, and some EMT-related molecules in patients with COPD also showed significant abnormal expression and consistented with the changes in patients with non-small cell lung cancer. Conclusion: The results showed that dysregulation expression of EMT related regulatory factors may have some correlation with disease progression of COPD patients through the EMT markers and their expression and correlation analysis in COPD patients.

RESUMO

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the anti-aging effects and reveal the underlying mechanism of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi ethanol extract (SBG) in D-galactose-induced rats. Fifty rats were randomly divided into five groups: vehicle control group, D-galactose group, and D-galactose combined with 50, 100, 200 mg·kg-1 SBG. A rat aging model was induced by injecting subcutaneously D-galactose (100 mg·kg-1) for ten weeks. At the tenth week, the locomotor activity (in open-field test) and the learning and memory abilities (in Morris water maze test) were examined respectively. The urine was collected using metabolic cages and analyzed by high-resolution 1H NMR spectroscopy combined with multivariate statistical analyses. The SBG at doses of 50, 100 and 200 mg·kg-1 treatments groups could significantly ameliorate aging process in rats' cognitive performance. The 50, 100, 200 mg·kg-1 SBG regulated citrate, pyruvate, lactate, trimethylamine (TMA), pantothenate, β-hydroxybutyrate in urine favorably toward the control group. These biochemical changes are related to the disturbance in energy metabolism, glycometabolism and microbiome metabolism, which is helpful to further understanding the D-galactose induced aging rats and the therapeutic mechanism of SBG.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the clinical significance and correlation between RAR-βgene methylation and p53 gene mutation in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF)in non-small-cell lung cancer. Methods BALF samples from 85 lung cancer pa-tients(lung cancer group)and 70 cases(benign lung diseases group)with benign lung diseases were collected.RAR-βgene methyla-tion in BALF samples was detected by methylation-specific PCR (MSP),and p53 gene mutation was detected by PCR and DNA se-quencing method. Results The rate of RAR-βmethylation and p53 mutation in BALF in lung cancer were 49.4% and 36.5%,re-spectively.Both were higher than in benign lung diseases group(P <0.01).RAR-βmethylation rate(32.5%)of patients with TNM stages(Ⅰ+Ⅱ)(32.5%)was higher than the p53 mutation rate(12.5%)over the same stages (P <0.05).RAR-βmethylation rate and p53 mutation rate of patients with stages(Ⅲ+Ⅳ)were higher than those with stages(Ⅰ+Ⅱ)(P <0.01).p53 mutation rate in lung cancer patients with RAR-βmethylation was higher than those with unmethylated(P <0.01).RAR-βmethylation rate of lung cancer patients with p53 mutation was higher than those without p53 mutation(P <0.01).Conclusion Detection of RAR-βmethyl-ation and p53 mutation in BALF contribute to the diagnosis of lung cancer.

RESUMO

BACKGROUNDAcupuncture has been shown to be effective in pain relief and anesthesia, and has been suggested for treating various kinds of functional disabilities in traditional Chinese medicine, including knee osteoarthritis (OA). The study aimed to investigate the immediate effects of acupuncture on gait patterns in patients with knee OA.

METHODSTwenty patients with bilateral medial knee OA were assigned evenly and randomly to a sham group and an experimental group. During the experiment, the experimental group underwent a 30-minute formula electro-acupuncture treatment while the sham group received a sham treatment. Before and after treatment, each subject was evaluated for their knee pain using visual analog scales (VAS) and then their performance of level walking using gait analysis. For all the obtained variables, the independent t-test was used for between-group comparisons, while paired t-test was used to investigate the before and after changes.

RESULTSAll the measured data before acupuncture treatment between the groups were not significantly different. The VAS scores were decreased significantly after acupuncture in both groups, and the mean change of the VAS values of the experiment group was 2 times greater than that of the sham group. After formula acupuncture stimulation, while no significant changes were found in all the gait variables in the sham group, the experimental group had significant increases in the gait speed, step length, as well as in several components of the joint angles and moments.

CONCLUSIONSThe results of the study suggest that significantly improved gait performance in the experimental group may be associated with pain relief after treatment, but the relatively small decrease of pain in the sham group was not enough to induce significant improvements in gait patterns. Gait analysis combined with the VAS can be useful for the evaluation of the effect of acupuncture treatment for patients with neuromusculoskeletal diseases and movement disorder.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the effect of CD34+ stem cells seeded stent graft in venous system. Method Twelve mongrel dogs were randomized into 2 groups. Stent grafts covered with PTFE or Dacron were implanted into infrarenal vena cava through a delivery system. In each group, 4 stent grafts were seeded by autogenous bone marrow CD34+ cells, and 2 treated by autogenous blood only as control. The grafts were explanted at 2 weeks. Light and electron microscopy were used to examine endothelialization of neointima. CD34 and Ⅷ factor stain were applied to identify endothelial cells. Results All stent grafts were patent except for one Dacron stent without seeding. Light, electron microscopy, CD34 and Ⅷ factor stain demonstrated that confluent endothelial cells appeared on the neointima of seeded grafts. No endothelial cells were detected in the non-seeding grafts. Conclusions Rapid endothelialization of stent grafts can be achieved through bone marrow CD34+ cells seeding in venous systems.
