RESUMO

ABA is important for plant growth and development; however, it also inhibits photosynthesis by regulating the stomatal aperture and ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase activity. Noteworthy, this negative effect can be alleviated by antioxidants including ascorbic acid (AsA) and catalase (CAT), but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Two rice cultivars, Zhefu802 (recurrent parent) and its near-isogenic line, fgl were selected and planted in a greenhouse with 30/24 °C (day/night) under natural sunlight conditions. Compared to fgl, Zhefu802 had significantly lower net photosynthetic rate (PN) and stomatal conductance (Cond) as well as significantly higher ABA and H2O2 contents. However, AsA and CAT increased PN, Cond, and stomatal aperture, which decreased H2O2 and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels. In this process, AsA and CAT significantly increased the ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase activity, while they strongly decreased the ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate oxygenase activity, and finally caused an obvious decrease in the ratio of photorespiration (Pr) to PN. Additionally, AsA and CAT significantly increased the expression levels of RbcS and RbcL genes of leaves, while H2O2 significantly decreased them, especially the RbcS gene. In summary, the removal of H2O2 by AsA and CAT can improve the leaf photosynthesis by alleviating the inhibition on the stomatal conductance and ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase capacity caused by ABA.

Objective:To investigate the association between symptom of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and allergic rhinitis (AR) in children with AR at different sexes and different ages. Method:A total of 439 AR children aged 6 to 12 years were enrolled in this study. Basic information (age, gender, medical history, family history and comorbidities) of children with AR was collected. Results of prick tests on children skin were recorded. (TNSS) and Chinese version of the SNAP-Ⅳ scale, children under the guidance of independent completion of children's quality of life of children with nasal conjunctivitis scale (PRQLQ). According to the results of SNAP-Ⅳ, children were divided into AR with ADHD group ï¼»attention deficit and hyperactivity symptom score (IHS) >1.25ï¼½ and AR without ADHD group (IHS≤1.25). The differences between the two groups of children were analyzed using group t-test and χ² test, and the relationship between each parameter and IHS >1.25 was analyzed by binary logistic regression. Result:Using SPSS 22.0 software, among all the included AR children, IHS >1.25 children accounted for 26.4%, IHS >1.25 group AR symptom scores were significantly higher than HIS ≤1.25 groups. Univariate analysis showed that children with age, gender, duration of AR symptoms, skin index and PRQLQ subscales had a correlation with IHS >1.25. After controlling for age and gender, duration of AR symptoms and skin index correlated with IHS >1.25 The estimated OR values are 1.807 (95%CI: 1.350-2.419) and 1.912 (95%CI: 1.320-2.772), respectively. The estimated OR values of PRQLQ subscale and IHS >1.25 were 1.657 (nasal symptom score), 1.324 (eye symptom score), 2.48 (non-eye-nasal symptom score), 1.418 (Behavior problem score) and 2.045 (activity and sleep score). The correlation between IHS>1.25 and the skin index and PRQLQ subscales was mainly found in males with stratification of age and gender, and the association between duration of AR symptoms and HIS >1.25 was statistically significant among all groups reflected. Conclusion:The association between attention deficits and hyperactivity symptoms in AR children was correlated with the severity of AR symptoms, duration, and skin index, and this association was more pronounced in males. In children with AR and ADHD, early management of AR symptoms may improve their ADHD symptoms.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of high glucose-based peritoneal dialysis fluids on NLRP3-IL-1ß in human peritoneal mesothelial cells. METHODS: HMrSV5 cells (SV40 immortalized human peritoneal mesothelial cell line) were grown in type I collagen-coated dishes in DMEM/F12 containing 10% fetal calf serum (FCS). All experiments on HMrSV5 cells were performed between passages 5 and 10. The cells were divided into 7 groups: control, 1.5% dextrose, 2.5% dextrose, 4.25% dextrose, rotenone, thenoyltrifluoroacetone (TTFA), and antimycin A. Immunoblotting was used to evaluate the expression of IL-1ß. Small interfering RNA (siRNA) targeting NLRP3 was used to downregulate the expression of NLRP3 and Western blot was used to evaluate the expression of IL-1ß in human peritoneal mesothelial cells exposed to 4.25% dextrose. In the meanwhile, resveratrol (RSV) was used to induce autophagy, 3-methyladenine (3-MA) and siRNA against Beclin 1 or ATG5 were used to block auto-phagy, flow cytometric was used to analyze the respiring (mitotracker deep red), total (mitotracker green) and reactive oxygen species (ROS)-generating mitochondria (mitoSOX); Western blot was used to evaluate the expression of IL-1ß. RESULTS: The IL-1ß relative expressions were 0, 0.175±0.082, 0.418±0.163, 2.357±0.288, 2.642±0.358, 3.271±0.462, and 0.123±0.091, indicating that the cells exposed to high glucose-based peritoneal dialysis fluids and cells treated with mitochondria respiratory chain key enzyme complex I, and complex III inhibitors increased the IL-1ß expression. And we found that NLRP3 knock-down significantly blocked the upregulation of IL-1ß. In addition, the fluorescence intensity of total mitochondria and ROS-generating mitochondria in the following groups: control, negative control, RSV, 3-MA, ATG5 siRNA, Beclin1 siRNA were 1.76±0.42, 1.83±0.55, 1.85±0.62, 7.36±0.92, 5.35±0.77, 5.06±0.62 and 821.68±95.12, 868.15±102.82, 723.39±92.56, 1 660.08±113.65, 1 433.01±107.24, 1 562.36±112.88 respectively. The increased concentrations of mitochondrial ROS and IL-1ß upregulation were confirmed in the inhibition but not the induction of auto-phagy. We also found that downregulation of ATG5 and Beclin1 sensitized cells for the release of IL-1ß induced by MSU (monosodium urate) or nigericin which was the NLRP3 inflammasome activator. RSV treatment attentuated this effect. CONCLUSION: Long-term application of high glucose-based peritoneal dialysis fluids can trigger the consistent activation of NLRP3-IL-1ß in peritoneal mesothelial cells. Timely initiation of autophagy may block the NLRP3-IL-1ß activation and provide a basis for the further development of a potential therapeutic strategy for delay of chronic inflammation and peritoneal fibrosis associated with peritoneal dialysis.

Objective:To investigate the changes of speech and voice acoustics in patients with thyroid disease before and after operation, get objective values, and conducive to guiding the clinical diagnosis and treatment and recurrent laryngeal nerve protection. Method:A total of 216 patients undergoing thyroid surgery from October 2015 to October 2016 were treated with TVQ and GRBAS at 1 day before surgery, 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months postoperatively to phonological assessment, and Praat software was used to collect and analyze the acoustic acoustics index for preoperative and postoperative comparative analysis. Result:All patients did not damage the recurrent laryngeal nerve, unilateral or bilateral thyroid subtotal resection (no exploration of recurrent laryngeal nerve) in patients with postoperative speech and voice index F0 was decreased at 1 week after surgery (P<0.05), the other indicators did not change significantly; difference was found out in single-sided total thyroidectomy+ipsilateral central area lymph node dissection, bilateral thyroidectomy+unilateral central area lymph node dissection (exploration of unilateral recurrent laryngeal nerve) in patients with TVQ, GRBAS and F0, HNR after surgery 1 week compared with preoperative (P<0.05), However, there was no significant difference 3 months; TVQ, GRBAS and F0, HNR were significantly changed in patients with bilateral thyroidectomy+bilateral central lymph node dissection (revealed bilateral recurrent laryngeal nerve) at 1 week after operation (P>0.05). F0 and HNR were lower than those before operation, and the patients were treated with Jitter and Shimmer. The patients were treated with TVQ, GRBAS, Jitter and Shimmer before operation, however, the majority of patients' TVQ, GRBAS, Jitter, Shimmer can be restored to preoperative level after surgery 3 months (P>0.05). Conclusion:The appearance of speech and voice problems in patients after thyroid surgery may increase with the expansion of the surgical range, the change in speech and voice after neck lymph node dissection is reversible.

A series of polymer/cholesteryl liquid crystal (LC) composite membranes were prepared. Polyurethane and polyvinyl chloride, as a substrate, were blended with cholesteryl tetraethylene glycol carbonate to form composite membranes in an electric field under normal conditions. The blood compatibility of composite materials was identified by the dynamic blood-clotting test, haemolysis ratio measurement, platelet adhesion and SEM observation. The results showed that the content of LC, the ordered extent of LC domains embedded in composite materials and the type of substrate have greater effects on the blood compatibility of polymer/LC composite materials. When the LC domains were properly oriented, polymer/LC composite membranes had an excellent haemocompatibility, fewer platelets were adhered and spread and showed little distortion on the surface of materials.

RESUMO

A novel method based on a birefringent crystal is presented to compensate for the group-velocity mismatch between a femtosecond pulsed pump and the signal or idler in an optical parametric generator (OPG). With a thin calcite plate inserted between two beta-barium borate crystals for synchronization, an efficient four-pass OPG pumped by a frequency-doubled ~200-fs Ti:sapphire laser is obtained. The conversion efficiency is almost doubled throughout the whole tunable region compared with a conventional OPG pumped at the same power density, indicating that the total conversion efficiency of femtosecond optical parametric amplifier system can be raised significantly by use of this new four-pass OPG to generate the seed.
