RESUMO
Objetivo: identificar as principais barreiras e as formas de comunicação entre a equipe de saúde e as gestantes surdas. Método: estudo descritivo exploratório de natureza quantitativa, realizado com 29 médicos e 31 enfermeiros de um Hospital de Recife PE. Na coleta de dados foi utilizado um questionário previamente formulado. Os dados foram analisados através do software SPSS e foi realizado o teste qui - quadrado para comparação de proporção. A pesquisa foi aprovada pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. Resultados: dos entrevistados, 51,7% eram enfermeiros e 56,7% trabalhavam na emergência; quase a totalidade não possuía conhecimento em LIBRAS (90,0%); nos casos em que o método de comunicação utilizado foi o intérprete (73,3%), o acompanhante foi referenciado como o intérprete por 100% dos participantes; 75,0% afirmaram que existam barreiras de comunicação entre eles e as gestantes surdas e a falta de conhecimento em LIBRAS foi citada como barreira por 50,0% dos participantes. Conclusão: os profissionais deste estudo associam a falta do conhecimento em LIBRAS à inadequação da assistência, evidenciando a necessidade de formação profissional em LIBRAS.
Objective: To identify the main barriers and forms of communication between the health team and deaf pregnant women. Method: a descriptive exploratory study of quantitative nature, conducted with 29 doctors and 31 nurses of a hospital in Recife PE. For data collection, a previously formulated questionnaire was used. Data were analyzed using SPSS software and the chi square test was performed to compare proportions. The research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Pernambuco. Results: 51.7% of the interviewees were nurses and 56.7% worked in the emergency room; almost all had no knowledge of LIBRAS (90.0%); In cases where the communication method used was the interpreter (73.3%), the companion was referred to as the interpreter by 100% of the participants; 75.0% stated that there were communication barriers between them and deaf pregnant women and the lack of knowledge in LIBRAS was mentioned as a barrier by 50.0% of participants. Conclusion: The professionals in this study associate the lack of knowledge in LIBRAS with inadequate care, highlighting the need for professional training in LIBRAS.
