RESUMO
The development of new electroluminescence polymers for specific colour tuning in Polymer Light Emitting Devices (PLEDs) is currently one of the most important fields for organic electronics. This work reports a synthesis of a new electroluminescent polymer and the concomitant test as PLED emissive layer. The polymer, synthesised from fluorene, is poly(9,9'-n-dihexil-2,7-fluorenodiilvinylene-alt-2,5thiophene) or PFT. The luminescence shows large bands with maxima around 480 nm in absorption and 560 nm in emission. The device was made in a three layer structure, with PEDOT:PSS as hole transport layer, PFT as emissive layer and butyl-PBD as electron transport layer. The electroluminescence spectrum shows a strong band peaked at 540 nm. For an applied voltage of 12 Volt, the brightness at normal angle of viewing is near 10 cd/m2 and the luminous efficiency is of 0.01 lm/W. A discussion about carrier transport and the electroluminescence properties is made.
RESUMO
Pure and composite nanostructured films of conducting polymers were used as individual sensing units constituting an electronic tongue. The use of extremely thin films for signal transduction via impedance spectroscopy measurements in the frequency range 10-1 MHz allows the detection of trace amounts of tastants and inorganic contaminants in liquid systems. In addition, the sensor could detect the suppression of sourness by sweetness displaying similarities with the biological system. Brands of several commercial beverages could be easily distinguished without complex analysis, including the discrimination of waters, tastants and wines.

OBJECTIVE: To gain dome idea of the characteristics of the population attended at a Family Planning Clinic (FPC) in a Health Centre, attempting to find the coverage and performance of the Clinic. DESIGN: Retrospective descriptive study, which analysed 403 cases between July 1986 and December 1990. SITE. Family Planning Clinic in the "Huerta de la Reina" Health Centre. PATIENTS AND OTHERS PARTICIPANTS: Women of child-bearing age who requested a consultation during the period of the study. MAIN MEASUREMENTS AND RESULTS: A uni/bivariate analysis of the studies was carried out. Coverage of 16.3% of the population of child-bearing age, with 69.5% of the women being under 29, was attained. The most frequent motive for a consultation was advice on methods of contraception. Oral contraception (65.0%) was the most common form prescribed. 27.1% of those attending consultation were referred to the second level. Attendance at periodic check-ups was very low.
