RESUMO

Se realizó una investigación de desarrollo en el campo de los servicios estomatológicos consistente en una intervención educativa sobre higiene bucal deficiente y dieta cariogénica como factores de riesgo de la caries dental en el período comprendido de septiembre 2005 hasta mayo 2006, se tomó como muestra 131 escolares de 7mo grado, de un universo de 769 escolares de la ESBU “Carlos Baliño” del municipio Las Tunas, a los cuales se les confeccionó la Historia Clínica Individual, se determinó el índice de análisis e higiene bucal de Love y colaboradores para evaluar la misma; luego se realizó una entrevista estructurada a los escolares para medir el nivel de conocimientos sobre la higiene bucal deficiente y la dieta cariogénica junto a esto se les entregó un registro de frecuencia de consumo de azúcares y/o carbohidratos en 24 horas y a través del modelo de David Leyva González se detectaron las necesidades educativas y temas a tratar en el programa educativo “Muelita feliz”. Se evaluaron los resultados de la estrategia educativa aplicada y se logró elevar el nivel de conocimientos sobre estos factores de riesgo de la caries dental(AU)


A stomatological investigation was carried out about the development of the stomatological services and it consisted of an educative intervention about deficient buccal hygiene and cariogenic diet as risks factors for dental caries in a period of time from September 2005 to May 2006. The samples taken were 131 students from 7 th grade out of 769, from Carlos Baliño Junior High, in Las Tunas. Every student had his personal patient ´s chart to determine the analysis rate according to Love's method, and some specialists to evaluate them. After this, an interview to the students was carried out to measure the knowledge level about deficient buccal hygiene and the cariogenic diet, together with this a sugar and carbohydrates consumption frequency register in 24 hours was handed in and by means of David Leyva´s model and this some education needs were found and some topics to deal with in the educative program “Happy Tooth”. The results of the educative strategy were evaluated when comparing the initial outcomes with the final ones, so a survey was carried out again bringing about as a good result that the population increased the know ledge about dental caries risks factors(AU)
