RESUMO

Inland recreational fisheries, found in lakes, rivers, and other landlocked waters, are important to livelihoods, nutrition, leisure, and other societal ecosystem services worldwide. Although recreationally-caught fish are frequently harvested and consumed by fishers, their contribution to food and nutrition has not been adequately quantified due to lack of data, poor monitoring, and under-reporting, especially in developing countries. Beyond limited global harvest estimates, few have explored species-specific harvest patterns, although this variability has implications for fisheries management and food security. Given the continued growth of the recreational fishery sector, understanding inland recreational fish harvest and consumption rates represents a critical knowledge gap. Based on a comprehensive literature search and expert knowledge review, we quantified multiple aspects of global inland recreational fisheries for 81 countries spanning ~192 species. For each country, we assembled recreational fishing participation rate and estimated species-specific harvest and consumption rate. This dataset provides a foundation for future assessments, including understanding nutritional and economic contributions of inland recreational fisheries.

We report a facile synthesis of MXene/bismuth ferrite (Ti3C2T x @ BiFeO3) nanocomposites using hydrazine hydrate induced with the hydrothermal method. Preparation of the composite with hydrazine hydrate prevents the formation of Bi25FeO39 inside the matrix. The 25 wt % loading of BiFeO3 acts as spacers for the multilayer restacking of MXene flakes by retaining the (002) plane. This promotes large dc conductivity with interfacial and defect dipole polarization mechanisms inside the composite material. The thinner M-H loop also indicates the minimal magnetic loss inside the composites. The facile synthesis strategy provides outstanding properties in Ti3C2T x @ BiFeO3 composites as two-dimensional multiferroic materials.

High magnitudes of permittivity with the permeability of the materials help to absorb electromagnetic waves more efficiently. Snoek's limit directly puts a constraint on the enhancement of the permeability of the material. However, the incorporation of the lossy material may help to enhance the permittivity abruptly. In this study, we prepared a FeSi/SiC composite material with the mechanical ball milling method and investigated its enhancement of the dielectric behavior. The bianisotropic nature was observed along with the phase purity in the morphological studies. The Cole-Cole relaxation mechanisms were observed to validate a complex relaxation mechanism with 104 times higher dielectric loss in the composite material. The detection of the Warburg capacitance using the impedance technique sheds new light on the ion diffusion mechanism in the metallic composite materials.

Fish kills are widespread visible events perceived by the civil society as a major cause for concern about water quality and ecosystem health. Investigations conducted so far have linked fish kills to multiple factors, but extensive studies examining quantitatively the likelihood of fish kills are missing. In the present study, factors related to fish kills in 67 Mediterranean reservoirs located in the Iberian Peninsula were investigated. Moreover, the variation in the likelihood of fish kills with the foreseen consequences of anthropogenically driven climate change upon temperature and precipitation was assessed. During the 23-year period studied (1995-2017) the number of fish kills per reservoir varied from 0 to 3 and happened mostly in Southern reservoirs and during the warmest months, particularly in June. Twelve explanatory variables showed significant differences between reservoirs with and without fish die-offs. Reservoir depth, surface area oxygen and chlorophyll a concentrations were the variables that, together, best discriminated between reservoirs with and without fish kills, explaining 67.2% of the total variation in the occurrence of fish die-offs. The variables retained in the mortality model explained unique parts of that variation, but a considerable amount of the explained variation was shared by all the variables. The number of fish kill events appears to be rising during the examined period and the projection made indicated an increase in the likelihood of fish kills towards the end of the 21st century, particularly for the RCP8.5 emission scenario, with the prevalence of fish kills reaching 0.865 in Southern reservoirs. In the future, oligotrophication is likely the only strategy to consistently reduce fish kills in Mediterranean reservoirs.

La novela de Adolfo Cardenas explota la ciudad no conocida a traves de personajes complejos, dejando de lado los estereotipos a los que peligrosamente se acercan quienes quieren reflejar sus claroscuros. No hay una intencionalidad, por parte del autor, de reclamar para ellos -los personajes- la unica y verdadera ciudadania, tampoco la insomne tendencia a justificarlos o a buscar culpables a priori por las situaciones que les toca vivir. Cada personaje mantiene su propia identidad, sostenida esta por un magistral trabajo del lenguaje, pero el trabajo narrativo de Cardenas no esta centrado simplemente en el uso del lenguaje, el lo utiliza para dejar traslucir una realidad que se sucede a diario, ni mas ni menos dramatica que cualquier otra vida. El futuro es una obra seria pero divertida, profunda sin perder la ironia, lacerante y cruda, cruda como la realidad que nos permite reir de nuestro propio llanto
