RESUMO

To determine the ontogeny of IgG subclasses in healthy Polish children IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, IgG4 concentrations were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in 30 cord blood sera and sera from 152 healthy children aged 4 months to 16 years. The geometric mean of concentrations all of IgG subclasses in age-related groups of children were calculated. In cord sera, four IgG subclasses were found with the IgG1 level reaching about 90%, IgG2--52%, IgG3--80% and IgG4--33% of the mean adult values. In the group of youngest children (4-6 months of age) the concentration of all IgG subclasses were significantly decreased in comparison to initial values. Then, IgG1 and IgG3 levels increased rapidly reaching ca. 50% of the mean adult values by 1 year of age. We also demonstrated much slower maturation of IgG2 and IgG4 which lagged behind IgG1 and IgG3 development, especially in younger children.

RESUMO

A 10-year-old girl with sclerosis tuberosa was admitted to the Children's Health Centre for febrile states of unclear origin. Ultrasonography revealed the presence of renal tumour of clear cell sarcoma character in histopathological examination. Despite nephrectomy the child died several weeks after the operation. The authors pay attention to the fact that both clear cell sarcoma and most lesions observed in sclerosis tuberosa have common origin from the nervous crest so their coexistence seems no accidental. In view of the observed in sclerosis tuberosa proneness to neoformation, the authors stress the necessity of periodical examinations of the brain and internal organs, mainly kidneys and liver.

RESUMO

67 children (age range 4-17 years) with severe asthma were examined for the presence of allergic pulmonary aspergillosis 28 of these underwent long term steroid therapy. The following parameters were analysed: medical history, clinical state, chest radiograms, microbiological examination of the sputum, precipitating IgG antibodies, skin prick tests with aspergillus, level of specific IgE antibodies. The authors did not find any single child that met the diagnostical criteria of allergic pulmonary aspergillosis. Only in 4 serum specific IgE antibodies were found but the precipitin and skin prick tests were negative. The children did not present typical clinical symptoms of pulmonary allergic aspergillosis. It seems worthwhile to re-examine these children in a few years.
