RESUMO

The parameters of iron in blood and in serum were studied with 90 children aged from 13 to 36 months from eight crèches of a large city. The investigations were performed in state of health, in state of acute respiratory disease and until the fourth week of convalescence. In the acute state iron of serum, transferrine and saturation index of transferrine are situated outside the limits of the normal state. The initial values of the state of health were not reached yet in the fourth week of the convalescence.

RESUMO

The zinc content in dental plaque after mouth rinsing with 0.2% zinc chloride solution is dependent on previous mouth rinsing with different pH value. Zinc retention is strongly reduced by rinsing with citric acid solution (pH value 1.0). Zinc retention is growing with increasing pH value when rinsing was made with sodium citrate buffer solution with increasing pH value. A rinsing with sodium citrate buffer solution (pH value 6.3) following a 0.2% zinc chloride solution leads to a drastic reduction of the zinc content. However, a chlorhexidine solution with the same pH value leaves no washing out effect.

RESUMO

The gastrointestinal tract is an important organ in the maintenance of zinc homeostasis. We determined the serum zinc level in 140 samples from 78 children with coeliac disease in different phases. Abnormally low values were found only in children with acute coeliac disease (50% below 2 SD), but not in children receiving a gluten-free diet. We therefore suggest to measure the serum zinc concentration in children with coeliac disease and to add a zinc supplementation in patients with diminished zinc values during a period of 2-4 weeks, because zinc deficiency could inhibit the recovery of the intestinal mucosa.

RESUMO

One can find only little information about the quantitative analysis of quantity elements and trace elements in animal bone compact substance and blood serum. The authors analysed potassium, sodium, phosphorus, calcium, iron, copper, zinc, and the alkaline phosphatase in the blood serum and in the compact substance of the tibial shaft of the rabbit. The collection and the preparation of blood serum and bone for the analytic investigation and the analysis methods were shown. The concentration of the inorganic elements were determined in mol/l and the content were calculated on 1 g dry bone substance.

RESUMO

The quantitative analysis of quantity elements and trace elements in the callus tissue of tibial fractures was carried out in 120 adult rabbits during the secondary bone fracture healing. The processing of the callus and the analysis methods of the inorganic elements were demonstrated. The trace elements copper and zinc are available much more compared with the quantity elements in the callus tissue during the acidotic early phase of the fracture healing. Copper and zinc are necessary for synthesis of the bone substance and the enzymes. The phosphorus concentration increased in a three-phasic way in the callus during the fracture healing. Phosphorus is prematurely enriched in the callus quantitatively stronger than calcium.

RESUMO

A weight loss of about 10 kg was acheived by means of individual periods of total fasting, hypocaloric diets and physical activity in three groups of patients: maturity-onset diabetics, patients with pathological OGTT and overweight persons with normal OGTT. Adipocyte volume decreased in all groups, glucose tolerance improved. IRI curves showed a significant overall lowering and FFA concentrations during OGTT were dimished.
