RESUMO

We conducted a systematic investigation into the spectral and pulse characteristics of C and L-band Nonlinear Polarization Rotation (NPR) mode-locked fiber lasers effectively employing nonlinear polarization rotation technology. In our experimental setup, we achieved a stable mode-locked state at 1560.076 nm, exhibiting a 3 dB spectral bandwidth of 9.1 nm. As the pump power increased, we observed spectral shifts accompanied by shifts in the first Kelly sideband and the generation of new Kelly sidebands. In this paper, the phenomenon of spectral deviation is elucidated through the interplay of self-phase modulation, group velocity drift, and polarization-dependent isolator (PD-ISO) filter effect, with an analysis of the formation and deviation of Kelly sidebands. Notably, spectral shift persisted even when the pump power exceeded 200 mW. However, continuous pump power escalation led to soliton splitting, resulting in the formation of new soliton beams. Based on the simultaneous generation of spectral shift and pulse splitting, our study contributes to an enhanced understanding of soliton dynamics in ultrafast fiber lasers and lays a foundation for the application of high-repetition-frequency harmonic mode-locked lasers with tunable wavelengths.

RESUMO

Spectral broadening due to amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) in a fiber amplifier is experimentally and theoretically investigated in this paper. By measuring and analyzing the variation in linewidth and noise of the fiber amplifier, the influence of ASE on laser linewidth is studied. The analysis shows that the ASE will cause broadening of the laser linewidth as noise, and the noise is introduced as an additive term rather than a multiplicative one.

RESUMO

In this paper, we have proposed and demonstrated the generation of passively mode-locked pulses and dissipative soliton resonance in an erbium-doped fiber laser based on Fe3O4 nanoparticles as saturable absorbers. We obtained self-starting mode-locked pulses with fundamental repetition frequency of 7.69 MHz and center wavelength of 1561 nm. The output of a pulsed laser has spectral width of 0.69 nm and pulse duration of 14 ns with rectangular pulse profile at the pump power of 190 mW. As far as we know, this is the firsttimethatFe3O4 nanoparticles have been developed as low-dimensional materials for passive mode-locking with rectangular pulse. Our experiments have confirmed that Fe3O4 has a wide prospect as a nonlinear photonics device for ultrafast fiber laser applications.

RESUMO

A type of Tm-doped silica fiber laser with narrow-linewidth and output wavelength near 1750 nm was firstly presented, by using a 1550 nm Er-doped fiber laser pump source and a volume Bragg grating (VBG). By means of a 15 cm Tm-doped fiber, a 400 mW continuous wave (cw) at ~1750 nm with FWHW of ~54 pm was generated, corresponding to an average slope efficiency up to 23.5% with respect to absorbed pump power. The influence of gain fiber length on the spectrum wavelength has been investigated in detail. All experimental results demonstrate that this fiber laser will be an effective and promising pump source for mid-IR laser output.

RESUMO

Experimental investigation of single and dual pulses in a passively Q-switched Nd:YAG microchip laser with a Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber has been reported. The dual pulses consist of a main and a satellite pulse with respective spectra, intensities, and durations. It is found that the preponderant oscillating mode gives birth to the main pulse, and the other oscillating mode corresponds to the satellite pulse. Our results demonstrate that the dual-pulse emission results from double-longitudinal-mode oscillation in high pump regime.

RESUMO

A compact tunable high power picosecond source based on Yb-doped fiber amplification of gain switch laser diode is demonstrated. A multi-stage single mode Yb-doped fiber preamplifier was combined with a single mode double-clad Yb-doped fiber main amplifier to construct the amplification system, which is seeded by a gain switch laser diode. By optimizing preamplifier???s parameters to compensate the seed spectrum gain, a "flat top" broadband spectrum is obtained to realize wavelength tunable output with a self-made tunable filter. The tunable pulses were further amplified to 3.5 W average power 90 ps pulses at 1 MHz repetition rate, and the center wavelength was tunable in the ranges from 1053 nm to 1073 nm with excellent beam quality.
