RESUMO

The rate of usage of community elderly care services in China is low, and past studies about the effects of these services on caregiver burden domestically are few. This study used a large sample of Beijing census data (n = 55,634) to examine the impact of these services on caregiver burden. Logistic regression and propensity score matching were used to estimate the effects. The results showed that meal assistance, respite care, and spiritual comfort are all significantly associated with a lower likelihood of perceived emotional burden among caregivers, while only respite care is very significantly associated with a lower likelihood of feeling physically burdened. However, the effects of these services on caregiver burden also depend on the activities of daily living performance and location of residence of the care recipients. The practical implications for policy makers are discussed.

Although barium titanate (BaTiO3) presented tremendous potential in achieving self-powered stimulation to accelerate bone repair, pervasive oxygen vacancies restricted the full play of its piezoelectric performance. Herein, BaTiO3-GO nanoparticles were synthesized by the in situ growth of BaTiO3 on graphene oxide (GO), and subsequently introduced into poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) powders to prepare PLLA/BaTiO3-GO scaffolds by laser additive manufacturing. During the synthesis process, CO and C-OH in GO would respectively undergo cleavage and dehydrogenation at high temperature to form negatively charged oxygen groups, which were expected to occupy positively charged oxygen vacancies in BaTiO3 and thereby inhibit the formation of oxygen vacancies. Moreover, GO could be partially reduced to reduced graphene oxide, which could act as a conductive phase to facilitate polarization charge transfer, thus further improving the piezoelectric performance. The results showed that the oxygen peak at the specific electron binding energy in O 1s declined from 54.4% to 14.6% and the Ti3+ peak that was positively correlated with oxygen vacancies apparently weakened for BaTiO3-GO, illustrating that the introduced GO significantly decreased the oxygen vacancy. As a consequence, the piezoelectric current of PLLA/BaTiO3-GO increased from 80 to 147.3 nA compared with that of PLLA/BaTiO3. The enhanced piezoelectric current effectively accelerated cell differentiation by upregulating alkaline phosphatase expression, calcium salt deposition and calcium influx. This work provides a novel insight for the design of self-powered stimulation scaffolds for bone regeneration.

Firmness, soluble solid content (SSC) and titratable acidity (TA) are characteristic substances for evaluating the quality of cherry tomatoes. In this paper, a hyper spectral imaging (HSI) system using visible/near-infrared (Vis-NIR) and near-infrared (NIR) was proposed to detect the key qualities of cherry tomatoes. The effects of individual spectral information and fused spectral information in the detection of different qualities were compared for firmness, SSC and TA of cherry tomatoes. Data layer fusion combined with multiple machine learning methods including principal component regression (PCR), partial least squares regression (PLSR), support vector regression (SVR) and back propagation neural network (BP) is used for model training. The results show that for firmness, SSC and TA, the determination coefficient R2 of the multi-quality prediction model established by Vis-NIR spectra is higher than that of NIR spectra. The R2 of the best model obtained by SSC and TA fusion band is greater than 0.9, and that of the best model obtained by the firmness fusion band is greater than 0.85. It is better to use the spectral bands after information fusion for nondestructive quality detection of cherry tomatoes. This study shows that hyperspectral imaging technology can be used for the nondestructive detection of multiple qualities of cherry tomatoes, and the method based on the fusion of two spectra has a better prediction effect for the rapid detection of multiple qualities of cherry tomatoes compared with a single spectrum. This study can provide certain technical support for the rapid nondestructive detection of multiple qualities in other melons and fruits.
