A 5 year old child with brucellosis is described who developed severe liver disease with neuropsychiatric signs and electroencephalographic changes.

Eighty cases of mumps meningitis are studied in children between the ages of one to seven years. The parotids were affected before, after and during the meningitis in all cases. In fifteen cases, when admitted to the hospital, levels of glucose were found in the C.S.F. equal or lower than 40 mg/100 ml. In three of them the hypoglycorrhachia persisted for a long time, as reported by other authors. The possible causes of low C.S.F. glucose values in meningitis are analized, not explanation for this phenomenon in viral meningitis is found.

The clinical, biochemical and anatomical studies of one case of galactosemia with cow's milk intolerance in a one month old infant are reported. Diagnosis was ascertained measuring the enzyme (Gal-1-P-Uridyl-transferase) deficiency with the methods of Anderson, Kalckar and Isselbacher. Overload and enzymatic studies were also carried out in relatives. The interest of this association of galactosemia with cow's milk intolerance, and its clinical and therapeutic implications are pointed out in the discussion.

Intramuscular injection of glucagon was used to assess HGH release in 31 normal children and 4 hypopituitary dwarfs. The peak response in controls was obtained at 120 min. with values (nanograms) of 12.93 plus or minus 5.18 (p smaller than 0.0005). Values at 60 and 180 min. were equally significant when compared with basal (7.04 plus or minus 9.24, p smaller than 0.025 and 6.74 plus or minus 6.65, p smaller than 0.001). Hypopituitary dwarfs did not respond to glucagon injection.
