Little is known about how changes in the biodiversity and functional traits of macroinvertebrates in rivers respond to the responses of anthropic pressures and their driving factors. Macroinvertebrates were sampled at 17 sites in the Irtysh River Basin and classified macroinvertebrates into 10 traits and 38 categories between May and August 2022. Then, we performed R-mode linked to Q-mode (RLQ) analysis and calculated functional richness, evenness, divergence, and Rao's quadratic entropy (RaoQ) for each site and community-weighted means for each trait category. Our results indicated that there were pronounced alterations in species variability in the urban region. Functional divergence indicated fierce competition among species and considerable niche overlap in the urban region. Functional evenness indicated that species abundance distribution and interspecific functional distance were not uniform in the urban region. Functional richness indicated that the urban region was the strongest region in terms of niche occupation, resource utilization, and buffering capacity for environmental fluctuations. Rao's quadratic entropy showed that the trait difference of macroinvertebrates was the largest in all regions, which was caused by the gradient environmental difference. Research has revealed that urbanization significantly influences the evolutionary trajectory of macroinvertebrate fauna, culminating in an upsurge in pollution-tolerant species and a convergence of functional traits. We recommend strengthening the control of urban and industrial pollution and wise planning and management of land and water resources to mitigate the impact of anthropogenic destruction on habitat fragmentation in the Irtysh River Basin.

In this study, we first sequenced the mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Schizothorax argentatus. The circular mitogenome of S. argentatus is 16,587 bp long, containing 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, and a control region (D-loop region). The base composition is AT biased (63.11%). A phylogenetic tree confirms monophyly at the genus level within Cyprinidae and supports S. argentatus as sister to Schizothorax pseudoaksaiensis.

Spin angular momentum enables fundamental insights for topological matters, and practical implications for information devices. Exploiting the spin of carriers and waves is critical to achieving more controllable degrees of freedom and robust transport processes. Yet, due to the curl-free nature of longitudinal waves distinct from transverse electromagnetic waves, spin angular momenta of acoustic waves in solids and fluids have never been unveiled only until recently. Here, we demonstrate a metasurface waveguide for sound carrying non-zero acoustic spin with tight spin-momentum coupling, which can assist the suppression of backscattering when scatters fail to flip the acoustic spin. This is achieved by imposing a soft boundary of the π reflection phase, realized by comb-like metasurfaces. With the special-boundary-defined spin texture, the acoustic spin transports are experimentally manifested, such as the suppression of acoustic corner-scattering, the spin-selected acoustic router with spin-Hall-like effect, and the phase modulator with rotated acoustic spin.

BACKGROUND: In China, high prevalence of HBV and HCV parallels with the growing epidemic of syphilis and HIV in the general population poses a great threat to blood safety. This study investigated the prevalence of serologic markers for transfusion transmissible infections (TTIs) among four Chinese blood centers. METHODS: We examined whole blood donations collected from January 2000 through December 2010 at four Chinese blood centers. Post-donation testing of TTIs (HIV, HBV, HCV and syphilis) were conducted using two different enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits for each seromarker. The prevalence of serologic markers for TTIs (%) was calculated and additional analysis was conducted to examine donor characteristics associated with positive TTIs serology. RESULTS: Of the 4,366,283 donations, 60% were from first-time donors and 40% were from repeated donors. The overall prevalence of HIV, HBsAg, HCV and syphilis was 0.08%, 0.86%, 0.51% and 0.47%, respectively. The prevalence profile of TTIs varied among different blood centers and appeared at relatively high levels. Overall, the prevalence of HBsAg and HCV demonstrated a decline trend among four blood centers, while the prevalence of HIV and syphilis displayed three different trends: constantly steady, continually increasing and declining among different centers. CONCLUSIONS: This study reflects the risk of TTIs has been greatly reduced in China, but blood transfusion remains an ongoing risk factor for the spread of blood-borne infections, and further work and improvements are needed to strengthen both safety and availability of blood in China.
