RESUMO

UNLABELLED: Trichoepithelioma is part of the adnexal carcinomas. It is a benign, small tumor, usually under a centimeter in diameter, which develops in the basal cells of the hair follicle. CASE REPORT: We present the case of a 30-year-old female patient, from rural area, which was hospitalized in the Clinic of Dermatology, Emergency County Hospital, Craiova, Romania, in March 2015, for the presence of a skin tumor, with round-oval shape, 0.5 cm in diameter, brownish colored, located on the left cervical region. The patient had no past medical history. The skin tumor appeared two years ago, and it was slowly increasing in size. Physical examination was in normal ranges. The dermatoscopic examination reveal a pearly white background covered with tumor islands that were oval shaped, with hyperpigmentation, centered by keratin cysts and surrounded by collagen. During hospitalization, we performed tumor biopsy. The histopathological examination showed microscopic structure of trichoepithelioma. After history taking, physical examination, dermatoscopic examination and histopathological result, our diagnosis was left cervical trichoepithelioma. CONCLUSIONS: Trichoepithelioma is a rare trichogenic tumor, which appears at any age, including newborns, with potential for local recurrence. Our case report represents a classic dermatoscopic aspect of trichoepithelioma, that can have close resemblance to basal cell carcinoma and other skin adnexal tumors, clinically, dermatoscopic and histopathological.

RESUMO

Necrobiosis lipoidica (NL) is a rare dermatosis that has been shown to precede the onset of diabetes mellitus in 15% of patients. It is more common in women; the average age of the onset is 30 years. Skin lesions of classic NL begin as a small papule, typically on the bilateral pretibial area. Progressively, these papules become indurated plaques with an atrophic, yellow center and multiple telangiectatic vessels, and brown-violaceous borders. We present the case of a 57-year-old male with type II diabetes mellitus from 2004, class II obesity, hepatosteatosis and metabolic disturbances who presents a disseminated eruption from 2010, formed by indurated plaques with flattened centers and a tendency of atrophy and raised, sharply demarcated, red-violaceous borders, having a variable diameter between 1.5 and 5 cm. The laboratory findings revealed elevated glucose levels between 250 and 300 mg%, high levels of transaminases and lipids. Diagnosis of disseminated necrobiosis lipoidica granuloma annulare-type was histopathologically confirmed. For the treatment, we have used topical corticosteroids and Tacrolimus 0.1% and systemic vasodilators. We consider this rare case interesting because has some peculiarities, as: disseminated lesions extend over the characteristic areas for necrobiosis lipoidica, the characteristic features of lesions similar to granuloma annulare, gender (male) and the onset of the disease over fifth decade.

RESUMO

Drawing on recent Romanian films, this article explores the distinctive post-communist concerns with national relocation in the symbolic geography of Europe. The focus on tragic comedies, an increasingly popular genre in Eastern European cinematography, foregrounds the critical usage of irony to express skepticism about the inclusive nature of geopolitical projects such as the European Union by national communities situated at its periphery. While the tragic comedies examined here are successful in challenging official narratives of European belonging, they rely on highly gendered scripts that prove more resilient to ironic reworkings. The movies resort to gendered plots and family tropes, representing Romania's efforts to receive European recognition as attempts to "marry into" the European Union. The larger thrust of this article is to open complex notions such as "Europe," "nation," and "gender," which are notoriously prone to essentialization, to a deconstructive analysis as systems of differentiation.
