The authors presented hygienic characteristics of industrial processes in chemical industrial complex (methacrylic acid, sodium cyanide) and results of work conditions influence on workers' health state through periodic medical examinations data.

The study covered assortment and amount of pesticides varying in purpose and chemical class and applied in Saratov region in 2002 vs in 1980s and 1990s. Findings are changed assortment, occurrence of new generation pesticides, significantly lower pesticide load, and seed mordants predominant over other pesticide groups. These findings necessitate special attention to occupational hygiene for health preservation among rural agricultural workers.

Wide use of chemicals in agriculture is associated with higher morbidity among inhabitants of agricultural regions. Extreme increase of the morbidity is confined to the area subjected to releases of oil-processing and petrochemical enterprises and therefore results from combined exposure to agricultural chemicals and waste of oil-processing.

Inhaled Orlok causes changes in the CNS, blood morphology, renal function. The threshold concentration of Orlok is 0.17 mg/m3, its subthreshold concentration is 0.023 mg/m3, MAC in the workplace air is 0.05 mg/m3.

The authors discuss a possibility to estimate risk of chronic intoxication by 2,4-D agricultural preparations and phosphorus organic pesticides among rural inhabitants having occupational contact with the chemicals. The estimation could be based on lipid metabolism parameters.
