RESUMO Este ensaio discute a relação entre o rugby e a questão da identidade nacional argentina. O trabalho apresenta uma breve contextualização sobre o rugby argentino e sua formação social, o papel do capitão no rugby e como é disputada a identidade nacional dentro do esporte. A partir disso, relaciona a homenagem da Seleção Argentina de rugby ao falecimento de Diego Maradona e o caso de racismo envolvendo alguns atletas, incluindo o capitão Pablo Matera. Como conclusão, aponta como essa identidade se manifesta em um lugar duplo, isto é, na sua relação dentro do país ao negar o que é nacional, e ao se apropriar do nacional-popular na relação com o exterior.

ABSTRACT This essay discusses the relationship between rugby and the question of Argentine national identity. The paper presents a brief contextualization about Argentine rugby and its social formation, the role of the captain in rugby, and how national identity is disputed within the sport. From this, it relates the tribute of the Argentinean national rugby team to the passing of Diego Maradona and the case of racism involving some athletes, including captain Pablo Matera. As a conclusion, the points out how this identity manifests itself in a double place, that is, in its relationship within the country by denying what is national; and by appropriating the national-popular in the relationship with the outside.

RESUMEN Este ensayo analiza la relación entre el tema de la identidad nacional argentina y el rugby argentino. El trabajo se presenta una breve contextualización sobre el rugby argentino y su formación social, el rol del capitán en el rugby y cómo se disputa la identidad nacional dentro del deporte. A partir de esto, relata el homenaje de la selección argentina de rugby a la muerte de Diego Maradona y el caso de racismo que involucró a algunos deportistas, entre ellos el capitán Pablo Matera. En conclusión, señala cómo esta identidad tiene un doble lugar, en su relación dentro del país, negando lo nacional; y con el exterior, apropiándose de lo nacional-popular.

[Beyond depression: assessing personality disorders, alexithymia and socio-emotional alienation in patients with HIV infection]. / Oltre la depressione: valutazione dei disordini della personalità, alessitimia edalienazione socio-emozionale nei pazienti con infezioneda HIV.

HIV infection is commonly associated with emotional and cognitive disorders that recognize both causes of an organic nature (related to the virus itself) and non-organic factors (emotional stress resulting from HIV diagnosis, social stigma and continued risk behaviour such as alcohol or drug abuse). Most of the literature has focused attention on depressive disorder, the most common mental disorder in the HIV population. In our analysis we evaluated the presence of personality disorders and alexithymia in a group of patients seropositive for HIV through appropriate psychological tests. Our data revealed a close relationship between socio-emotional alienation, distorted body perception and the difficulty in relating with each other, which is perceived as threatening and judgmental; this concept takes us back to the social stigma that modifies the emotional communication of HIV patients. The illness is experienced as an outsider that modifies the body, imprisons the emotionalism and cannot be controlled. Such personality alterations stop the emotional communication, thereby developing alexithymia.

Futebol profissional: o mercado e as práticas de liberdade / Professional football: football market and athletes freedom to voice their opinions towards the structure

A proposta deste artigo foi entender a relação entre a estrutura vigente do futebol profissional, que coloca os atletas em um mercado de trabalho restrito, e as práticas de liberdade como forma de posicionamento dos atletas diante da estrutura que, ao mesmo tempo, valida e controla as suas carreiras. Dessa forma, o texto foi estruturado de modo a discutir o Esporte Moderno e o controle que a Federação Internacional de Futebol (FIFA) exerce sobre futebol profissional, a mercadorização e a circulação dos jogadores brasileiros em busca dos mercados futebolísticos no exterior. Por meio de uma pesquisa bibliográfica, as práticas de liberdade foram discutidas a partir de dois episódios envolvendo os jogadores Neymar e Paulo Henrique Ganso, para entender como as suas reivindicações seguem rumos distintos. Como resultado as práticas de liberdade no futebol consistem na ação dos atletas em não se deixarem reduzir à condição de "peça" ou de "mercadoria"...

The purpose of this article was to understand the connection between the current structure of professional football in which athletes are submitted to work at a restricted field, and athletes' freedom to express their opinions facing such structure, that on one hand is responsible for validate their careers, and on the other hand is also responsible for that. Therefore, the text was structured to discuss the Modern Sport and the control that FIFA has done over professional football, the commodification of football players and the movement of Brazilian players abroad in order to find a job in the foreign market. Using a bibliographical research, athletes practices were analyzed taking into account two episodes involving the football players Neymar and Paulo Henrique Ganso, to understand some differences between their claims. The results show that, the practices of freedom in football consist of players action for reducing the status of "piece" or "good"...

[Abdominal tuberculosis in a young immigrant patient: a clinical case]. / Tubercolosi addominale in un giovane paziente extracomunitario: descrizione di un caso clinico.

In developing countries, tuberculosis (TBC) is commonly associated with inadequate socio-economic and sanitary conditions. Currently, in Western countries, TBC is often linked with HIV infection, an ageing population or trans-global migration. Approximately two out of ten TB cases worldwide are extra-pulmonary, of which abdominal tuberculosis accounts for 11%-16%. The Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex involves the abdomen as primary or secondary localization (hematogenous spread or from pulmonary foci or infected neighbouring organs). Abdominal TBC can infect the gastrointestinal tract, peritoneum, mesentery, abdominal lymph nodes, liver, spleen, and pancreas. Diagnosis of abdominal tuberculosis is difficult because of vague and non-specific clinical features and due to the differential diagnosis with other granulomatous diseases such as Crohn's Disease. It is of great importance for clinicians to pay great attention to tubercular aetiology as a possible cause of gastrointestinal symptoms. Here we describe the clinical case of a young immigrant patient with intestinal TB for whom the wrong initial diagnosis led to a delay in the correct diagnosis and a worsening of the already serious general conditions.

A construção do ídolo no fenômeno futebol / The construction of the idol in the football phenomenon

Este artigo objetivou investigar o papel do ídolo na construção do fenômeno futebol no Brasil. Foram entrevistados ex-jogadores de futebol, jogadores profissionais e jogadores de futebol para cegos. O tratamento dos dados destacou quatro categorias: Criação, Difusão, Idolatria e Papéis. Para tal categorização e inferência foi utilizada a Análise de Enunciação, uma das técnicas da Análise de Conteúdo. A construção de ídolos mostrou-se dependente da valorização de grandes feitos e da criação de vínculos. Os feitos são dependentes das categorias tempo e espaço, dando um “prazo de validade” para a idolatria e propiciando uma cíclica renovação de ídolos. Os vínculos serão maiores quanto maiores forem as relações da tríade jogador-clube-torcedor. Os feitos são “mostrados” na mídia e se os vínculos estiverem bem estabelecidos, a imagem do ídolo será exaltada e valorizada, alimentando e motivando a paixão dos torcedores e cultivando o sonho de ser jogador de futebol no imaginário social.

This paper objectives to investigate the idol role in the construction of the football phenomenon in Brazil. For that, ex-football players, professional football players and football 5-a-side players were interviewed. The data analysis emphasized four categories: Creation, Diffusion, Idolatry and Roles. To analyze and make inferences from the data, the Enunciation Analysis, one of the Contend Analysis technique was used. The construction of idols was dependent on the appreciation of great achievements and creating bonds. The achievements are dependent on the categories time and space, giving an "expiration date" to idolatry and providing a cyclic renewal of idols. The stronger the relationship of the triad player-club-fan, the deeper the bonds will be. The achievements are "shown" in the media and if the bonds are well established, the image of the idol will be exalted and valued, nurturing and motivating the passion of the fans and cultivating the dream of being a football player in the social imaginary.

Immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome associated with Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection: a systematic review.

HIV and tuberculosis (TB) are leading global causes of mortality and morbidity. Highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) is often initiated in patients being treated for TB. The immune recovery associated with HAART results in dramatic clinical benefits, but this restoration of immunity may result in immunopathological reactions. The immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome can result in fever, nodal enlargement, and worsening pulmonary infiltrates observed on a chest radiograph, with or without recurrent respiratory symptoms. Several other manifestations have also been described. As a consequence, the use of HAART might not be appropriate during the first weeks of anti-TB therapy in HIV-infected patients. In this review, we summarize the incidence, clinical presentations, and potential mechanisms of these conditions and we describe therapeutic methods.

Visceral leishmaniasis in a patient with common variable immunodeficiency and evans syndrome: clinical remarks.

Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) is a vector-borne zoonosis endemic in Southern Italy whose usual clinical features include fever, splenomegaly, pancytopenia and hypergammaglobulinemia. The clinical and biochemical picture may be misleading in patients with immunodeficiency diseases hampering the diagnosis. We describe a VL case in a patient whose spleen had been removed and who had Common Variable Immunodeficiency and Evans syndrome.

Mycobacterium xenopi pulmonary infection resulting in self-limited immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome in an HIV-1 infected patient.

Highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) has been shown to induce a major and durable viral load reduction accompanied by a stable CD4 increase. This process may evolve with adverse clinical phenomena, known as the immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome (IRIS). In the HIV population, non-tuberculous mycobacteria are a common cause of IRIS. However, only a few cases of Mycobacterium xenopi associated IRIS have been described. This paper concerns a case of M. xenopi pulmonary infection resulting in self-limited immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome in an HIV-1 infected patient.

Carotid artery intima-media thickness in highly treated HIV-1 patients.

The authors used ultrasonography to measure carotid artery intima-media thickness in a cohort of antiretroviral-experienced patients. Overall, 52 patients were enrolled in the study. Twenty-two patients (42.3%) showed a IMT > 1 mm and among these 14 (26.9%) showed a atheromatous plaque. Data analysis showed that IMT > 1 mm was associated with the duration of HIV infection (p 0.03), nadir CD4 cell count (p < 0.01), and conventional cardiovascular risk factors. No association was found between IMT and type or duration of antiretroviral therapy. These data confirm the direct role of HIV in the development of endothelial damage.

O jogo no ensino do handebol: proposta de um plano de ensino pensado para a prática diária / The game in handball instruction: a teaching plan for daily practice

A continua evolução dos esportes coletivos e a necessidade adequá-los aos interesses dos alunos geram a necessidade da discussão de novas possibilidades de ensino ou uma nova forma da utilização de métodos consagrados. Partindo desse pressuposto apresentamos nesse artigo uma reinterpretação dos métodos desenvolvidos por BAYER (1994), Garganta (1995) e Werner et al. (1996), os quais objetivam o ensino dos esportes coletivos através da compreensão tática utilizando para isso jogos. Apresentaremos aqui uma proposta de plano de ensino e atividades baseados nos conceitos desses autores, proporcionando aos professores uma possibilidade de utilizar de maneira simples e seqüencialtais conteúdos em sua prática diária.

The continuous evolution of team sports and the need to adapt to student interests make it necessary to create new teaching approaches and devise new ways to apply traditional teaching methods. In this article, we discuss and reinterpret the methods developed by Bayer (1994), Garganta (1995) and Werner et al. (1996), who advocate teaching team sports through games for building tactical awareness. The proposal includes a teaching plan and activities based on the concepts of these authors, there byoffering instructors the possibility of applying these concepts in a simple and sequential manner in their daily teaching.

Infected atrial myxoma: case report and literature review.

Myxoma is the most common type of cardiac tumour in all age groups. It may simulate infective endocarditis but is rarely infected. We describe one case of infected left atrial myxoma caused by Enterococcus faecalis. Combined therapy, consisting of surgical management and antimicrobial therapy, was used. Histological examination of the excised tumour revealed a typical myxoma with infiltrates of neutrophils. Few cases of infected atrial myxomas have been reported in the literature.
