Interrelationship of the immune state of patients with the reactive anxiety degree in patients suffering gastroduodenal ulcer disease was established. The most pronounced inhibition of the immunity cell link along with moderate activation of its humoral link was noted in patients with low degree of anxiety, and less pronounced one--with high degree of anxiety, in patients with middle degree of anxiety the changes were absent.

[The diagnosis and treatment procedure in nonopaque foreign bodies in the stomach and intestines]. / Diagnostika i taktika lecheniia nekontrastnykh inorodnykh tel zheludka i kishechnika.

For 10 years, 26 patients underwent treatment for complications caused by presence in the stomach and intestine of the foreign bodies with low radio-opacity and echogenicity. All the patients were operated on. At operation, a cause of the disease was established: in 17 cases--a fish bone, in 5--a small chicken bone, in 1--a conifer needle, in 2--a wooden chip, in 1--a home-made toothpick.

[The diagnosis and treatment of patients with foreign bodies in the stomach and intestines]. / Diagnostika i lechenie bol'nykh s inorodnymi telami zheludka i kishechnika.

The results of treatment of 39 patients with complications caused by presence of foreign bodies in the stomach and intestine are presented. Conservative treatment was performed in detection of a single foreign body with a length up to 10 cm. The foreign body staying at the same place for three days should serve an indication for operation. The emergency operation should be performed in presence of multiple foreign bodies in the stomach, when their length is more than 10 cm. and in development of complications--perforation of a hollow organ, development of hemorrhage, abscess, or infiltrate in the abdominal cavity.

[Relaparotomy in surgery of cholelithiasis]. / Relaparotomiia v khirurgii zhelchnokamennoi bolezni.

In a period of 5 years 790 patients underwent operation in the surgical clinic for cholelithiasis. Relaparotomy had to be conducted on 23 (2.9%) patients because intraabdominal complications occurred: escape of bile from the gallbladder bed and choledochus in its drainage, and development of peritonitis in 13 patients, pancreatitis in 2 patients, abdominal abscesses in 5, bleeding into the free abdominal cavity and the gastrointestinal tract in 3 patients. The diagnosis of complications is difficult. The developing symptoms are masked by infusion and antibiotic therapy, injection of narcotics, intestinal paresis. A complex approach is conducive to the establishment of the diagnosis: one doctor in charge, intensive surveillance of the patient, study of the results of laboratory and clinical methods of examination in dynamics. The indications for operation should be considered from the very onset in some cases. Nine (39.1%) patients died after relaparotomy.

[Diagnosis and therapy of acute hemorrhoids]. / Diagnostika i lechenie ostrogo gemorroia.

The analysis of the results of treatment of 137 patients with acute hemorrhoids was carried out. A typical hemorrhoidal analysis was noted in 83.5% of the patients. Operated on were 129 (94.1%) patients, including 27 (20.9%)--at day 3-4 after hospitalization. Duration of hospital stay of the patients operated on after short-term preparation was 9.2 days. This figure is 4.1 days less than that in patients operated on in a delayed order.

[Treatment of acute cholecystitis complicated by mechanical jaundice]. / Lechenie ostrogo kholetsistita, oslozhnennogo mekhanicheskoi zheltukhoi.

From the results of treatment of 127 patients with acute cholecystitis complicated by obstructive jaundice, the author concluded that jaundice is an unfavourable complication from the standpoint of prognosis and causes an effect on the immediate and late-term results of treatment. Early operation conducted after intensive preoperative management makes it possible to arrest the acute inflammatory process in the gallbladder and prevent the development of hepatic insufficiency in obstructive jaundice.

[Treatment of suppurative puerperal mastitis]. / Lechenie gnoinogo poslerodovogo mastita.

The treatment of 122 patients with acute puerperal mastitis consisted in wide opening of a purulent focus, excision of the necrotized tissues and rational drainage of the purulent cavities. After the operation, the antibiotics, intravenous infusion, drugs enhancing the specific and non-specific resistance of an organism were used. Average time of treating in hospital was 11 days, in infiltrative form of mastitis--6.5 days.

[Diagnosis and treatment of cicatricial strictures of the extrahepatic bile ducts]. / Diagnostika i lechenie rubtsovykh striktur vnepechenochnykh zhelchnykh protokov.

On the basis of the assessment of the results of treatment of 73 patients with cicatricial bile duct strictures, it was established that duration and degree of the pronouncement of cholestasis, presence of infection in the bile ducts influenced its early and long-term results. Adequate correction of cholestasis with carcass drainage of anastomoses permits to achieve a stable positive effect in 78.6% of the patients operated on.
