RESUMO

The usefulness of dynamic MR and fat suppression imaging was investigated in 19 patients with pancreatic duct cell carcinoma. In addition to conventional spin echo imaging, dynamic MR and fat suppression imaging were performed. These images were evaluated for the detectability of lesions. The detectability of lesions was classified as good, fair or poor. On T1 weighted images, 26% of cases were evaluated as "good" and 32% as "fair". On dynamic MRI, 69% of cases were evaluated as "good" and 26% of cases as "fair". On pre- and postcontrast fat suppression images, 32% and 28%, respectively, were evaluated as "good", and 47% and 39% as "fair". Neither T2 weighted images nor enhanced T1 weighted images were useful. Direct comparison between dynamic MR and fat suppression images was also done. In 42% of cases, dynamic MR was superior to fat suppression images and in 42%, dynamic MRI was equal to fat suppression. In 16% of cases, fat suppression was superior to dynamic MRI. It was concluded that dynamic MR and fat suppression imaging were more useful than conventional spin echo imaging for the detection of pancreatic carcinoma.

RESUMO

99mTc-DTPA-galactosyl human serum albumin (99mTc-GSA) is a new liver imaging agent which binds to heptic binding protein. This study evaluated the sensitivity of 99mTc-GSA kinetics and imaging anatomy to congestive hepatic injury in rats. Regional hepatic congestion was induced by clamping the left hepatic vein for 5, 10, 20, 40, or 90 min. After recanalization, 99mTc-GSA was intravenously administered to rats. A dynamic imaging study was performed, followed by static liver imaging performed for 5 min. A hepatic accumulation index, t90, was obtained on the basis of the dynamic data. A significant difference in t90 was observed between the experimental groups and the controls (p < 0.01). A significant difference in s-GPT also was observed between the experimental groups and the controls (p < 0.01). Excellent correlations were seen between t90 and ligation time (r = 0.967, p < 0.001), and t90 and s-GPT (r = 0.907, p < 0.001). Marked depression in hepatic 99mTc-GSA uptake was observed in rats with 40 or 90 min of hepatic vein occlusion. In conclusion, 99mTc-GSA is useful for evaluating hepatic injury in rats induced by hepatic vein occlusion.

RESUMO

99mTc-DTPA-galactosyl human serum albumin (Tc-GSA) is a new liver-imaging agent which binds specifically to hepatic binding protein. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of Tc-GSA in quantitatively evaluating hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury in the rat. Regional hepatic ischemia was induced by clamping the left hepatic artery and the left portal vein for 5 to 45 min. A hepatic accumulation index (t90) was obtained on the basis of the dynamic data. A significant difference of this index was observed between all ischemic groups and the control. In conclusion, 99mTc-GSA appears useful for evaluating the hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury.

RESUMO

We evaluated quantitatively the liver injury of rats induced by ischemia-reperfusion, using 99mTc-DTPA-Galactosyl-Human-Serum-Albumin (99mTc-GSA). The vessels of the left lobe were clamped for 5, 10, or 45 minutes followed by 15 minutes reperfusion. Then, 99mTc-GSA was intravenously administered (170 micrograms/kg body weight) to rats. Two compartment analysis was made on measurement curves in the heart and liver to obtain clearance parameters. Significant difference was observed between the ischemic group (clamped for 10 and for 45 minutes) and the control. These results suggest that 99mTc-GSA is useful in the estimation of liver injury produced by ischemia-reperfusion.
