RESUMO
Presented herein is a clinical case report concerning successful surgical management of a rare variety of a primary tumour of the heart, i. e., a capillary haemangioma of the left atrium, simulating by the contours and localization a myxoma. The final diagnosis was verified only by histological examination. The authors describe difficulties of diagnosis of the disease involved, underlying the necessity of plastic correction for restoration of the normal anatomical configuration of the heart. This is followed by a review of the literature, reflecting a possible course of the disease, problems of diagnosis, and therapeutic policy.

Systematised herein are the results of large-scale randomized studies, as well as own findings regarding the use of beta-adrenoblockers and statins in vascular patients. Administration of selective beta-adrenoblockers and statins appeared to decrease the cardiac-complication rate in this cohort of patients.

The article deals with the findings of studying the use of rosuvastatin in patients after endured reconstructive operations on the brachiocephalic arteries and aortofemoral segment in order to prevent cardiac atherothrombotic complications. A total of thirty patients were given "Crestors" at a daily dose of 10 mg for two weeks prior to surgery and for two weeks postoperatively and were found to have a significant decrease in the average levels of total cholesterol and low-density lipoproteins, which was accompanied and followed by certain improvement in the functional state of the vascular wall, with no cardiac complications being observed in either case.

Presented herein is the authors'experience with transcutaneous laser coagulation (TLC) used for treatment of various-localization venous angiodysplasias in a total of twenty-one patients. Also described are the issues concerning the methodology involved and the course of the operational procedure. The main criteria used while analysing the outcomes of TLC were the clinical patterns and the findings of duplex scanning. Good to satisfactory results were eventually observed in 71.4% of the patients. Based on the outcomes obtained after TLC, the authors worked out the principles of appropriate practical application of laser-mediated technologies in patients presenting with venous angiodysplasias.
