RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the effects of Shenling Chengqi decoction combined with routine treatment on gastrointestinal function and immune status of patients with gastrointestinal injury in severe sepsis. Methods: 160 patients with sepsis were randomly divided into a control group (n = 80) and observation group (n = 80). The control group was given routine treatment such as anti-infection and vasoactive drugs. The observation group was treated with Shenling Chengqi decoction on the basis of routine treatment for 7 days. The improvement of gastrointestinal symptoms, nutritional status, gastrointestinal dynamics, inflammatory response, and immune function was observed before and after treatment. The outcome indicators were evaluation of gastrointestinal symptoms, evaluation of disease severity, nutritional status, gastrointestinal dynamic indexes, inflammatory indexes, and immune function indexes. SPSS 22.0 statistical software was used for data processing. The paired t-test was used for comparison before and after treatment. Results: Compared with the control group, the disappearance time of reflux, vomiting, and recovery time of bowel sounds in the observation group were significantly shorter (P < 0.05), and the number of defecation per day was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). After 3 and 7 days of treatment, the APACHE II score, SIRS score, serum gas, IgA, IgM, serum hs-CRP, TNF, and PCT of the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment (P < 0.05), and the scores of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group (P < 0.05). The levels of SS and MOT were significantly higher than those before treatment (P < 0.05). After 7 days of treatment, the levels of serum Hb, ALB, and PA in the two groups were significantly higher than those before treatment (P < 0.05), and the nutritional status in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Shenling Chengqi decoction can effectively improve gastrointestinal symptoms, nutritional status, and gastrointestinal dynamics in patients with sepsis. It has high safety and is worthy of clinical promotion.

RESUMO

The assembly of a peptide-tetrathiophene-peptide (PTP) conjugate has been investigated in mixed solvents, which has different polarities by changing the solvent proportions. It was found that PTP can form fibers in THF/hexane solutions with 40-80%v of hexane. The fibers were stable and did not change on time. On the other hand, PTP formed ordered structures in a mixed solution with the water content from 40 to 60%v. For the as-prepared solutions, two nanostructures vesicles and parallelogram sheets were obtained. The parallelogram sheets could transform into vesicles on time. The fibers showed supramolecular chirality, however, there was no Cotton effect for vesicles and parallelogram sheets. UV-vis, FL, XRD, FT-IR, and CD spectra together with SEM, AFM, TEM were used to characterize the nanostructures and properties of the assemblies. Molecular packing mechanism was proposed based on the experimental data.

RESUMO

A peptide sequence N(3)-GVGV-OMe (G: glycine; V: valine) was attached to a benzene 1,3,5-tricarboxamide (BTA) derivative via"click chemistry" to afford a C(3)-symmetric artificial oligopeptide. The key feature of this oligopeptide is that the binding sites (triazole groups formed by click reaction) are located at the center, while the three oligopeptide arms with a strong tendency to assemble are located around it, which provides inner space to accommodate nanoparticles via self-assembly. The inclusion of Cu nanoclusters and the formation of one-dimensional (1D) arrays inside the nanofibers of the C(3)-symmetric artificial oligopeptide assembly were observed, which is quite different from the commonly observed nanoparticle growth on the surface of the pre-assembled oligopeptide nanofibers via the coordination sites located outside. Our finding provides an instructive concept for the design of other stable organic-inorganic hybrid 1D arrays with the inorganic nanoparticles inside.

RESUMO

Oligopeptide-based derivatives are important synthons for bio-based functional materials. In this article, a Gly-(L-Val)-Gly-(L-Val)-coumarin (GVGV-Cou) conjugate was synthesized, which forms 3D networks in ethanol. The gel nanostructures were characterized by UV-vis spectroscopy, FT-IR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), SEM and TEM. It is suggested that the formation of charge transfer (CT) complexes between the coumarin moieties is the main driving force for the gel formation. The capability of the gel to encapsulate and release dyes was explored. Both Congo Red (CR) and Methylene Blue (MB) can be trapped in the CT gel matrix and released over time. The present gel might be used as a functional soft material for guest encapsulation and release.

RESUMO

The biomolecule-assisted self-assembly of semiconductive molecules has been developed recently for the formation of potential bio-based functional materials. Oligopeptide-assisted self-assembly of oligothiophene through weak intermolecular interactions was investigated; specifically the self-assembly and chirality-transfer behavior of achiral oligothiophenes in the presence of an oligopeptide with a strong tendency to form ß-sheets. Two kinds of oligothiophenes without (QT) or with (QTDA) carboxylic groups were selected to explore the effect of the end functional group on self-assembly and chirality transfer. In both cases, organogels were formed. However, the assembly behavior of QT was quite different from that of QTDA. It was found that QT formed an organogel with the oligopeptide and co-assembled into chiral nanostructures. Conversely, although QTDA also formed a gel with the oligopeptide, it has a strong tendency to self-assemble independently. However, during the formation of the xerogel, the chirality of the oligopeptide can also be transferred to the QTDA assemblies. Different assembly models were proposed to explain the assembly behavior.
