RESUMO

Suppurative inflammatory complications were reported in 40 patients with gallbladder carcinoma. It was stated that the type of the complication and its clinical manifestation depended mainly on the site of the tumor in the gallbladder, the type of the tumor growth and its invasiveness. Development of suppurative complications was observed most frequently when the tumor was located in the cervical area of the gallbladder and in the endophytic type of its growth. Depending on these parameters, the clinical picture may have acute or torpid pattern with the corresponding pathologic anatomic changes in the abdomen due to suppurative complication. Thirty-five patients were operated on. Lethal outcomes made up 62.8%.

RESUMO

Perforative complications in 13 of 274 (4.7%) patients with carcinoma of the gallbladder are analysed. The author describes the specific features of the clinical course of this complication depending on certain factors associated with growth of the tumor and development of the pyogenic process, the types and outcomes of the operations.

RESUMO

The 8-10 weeks male Syrian hamsters were inserted beeswax pellets into the gallbladder, the pellets contained 5 mg of 3-methylcholanthrene (group IV). In control groups the animals were inserted intravesical beeswax pellets or subjected to a sham-operation (group I, II, III). The experiment lasted for 34 weeks, the first tumours were obtained 21 weeks after the operation. The tumours of gallbladder were obtained in group IV in 23 of 42 animals which lived for more than a month (54.2%). The first results of the experiment allow estimating positively the method, which permits due to the exact performance of the described details obtaining a number of tumours sufficient for studying the tumours of the gallbladder in a comparatively short period.

RESUMO

The study used 8 groups of 8-10 week-old male hamsters. Beeswax pellets containing 5 mg of 20-methylcholanthrene (group 4) or 2 mg (group 5) were injected into the gallbladder. In group 6, the latter treatment was supplemented with castration and subcutaneous injection of 40 micrograms of estradiol dipropionate (EP) once a week. Other experimental exposures included: sham operation (group 2), beeswax pellet injection into the gallbladder (group 3), beeswax pellet injection + castration + EP (group 7) and castration + EP (group 8) with the animals is group 1 being in control. The gallbladder tumor development frequency in groups 4, 5 and 6 was 58.3; 39.3 and 77.8%, respectively. The difference between the data on group 5 and 6 proved significant. The study on cumulative likelihood of tumor development showed a significant increase in tumor frequency in group 6 as compared with group 4 and 5. A strong stimulating effect of castration and EP treatment on tumorigenesis in the gallbladder was demonstrated.
