RESUMO

Wide excision of neoplasm is most frequently used in surgery for soft tissue tumors, on appropriate sites and whenever the "envelope" can be preserved. The most frequent site of pelvic girdle soft-tissue tumors was the glutal area (39.0 +/- 4.8%). Out of 100 patients with such sarcomas, wide excision of tumor was performed in 82, and tumor excision + bone resection--18. The former procedure was mostly used in the management of liposarcomas (26.5 +/- 4.2%), while the latter--in synovial sarcoma (33.3 +/- 4.9%).

RESUMO

Incision biopsy of skin melanoma is performed after forming a circular blocking barrier by means of a laser beam. Once tumor proper is subsequently irradiated, this prevents dissemination of tumor process. Skin melanomas, degree I-IV invasion (Clark), and 4.5 mm thick (Breslow) are effectively treated by pulsed laser radiation.

RESUMO

An analysis of observation of 24 patients after partial resection of nonorganic retroperitoneal tumors has shown that 3 years survival of the patients subjected to partial resection of the tumor was equal to (57.7 +/- 10.8)% and 5 years survival was noted in (47.2 +/- 11.1)% of the patients. None of the patients subjected to explorative operations survived more than 3 years.

RESUMO

The analysis of case histories of 152 patients with non-visceral tumors of the retroperitoneal space established misdiagnosis of tumor in 45.7%. Some patients (38.1%) presented with tumor, swelling and/or severe pain in the ipsilateral leg. Tumor proved inoperable in 50.4%. Diagnosis of tumor is complicated mainly by the diversity of patterns and peculiarities of clinical course. Also, lack of knowledge about the pathology and unawareness of cancer may account for misdiagnosis by general practitioners.
