RESUMO
The authors describe an analog biophotometer for the implementation of a method of the biological reference point that enables the comparison of the photometric diagnosis data for biological objects having different optic characteristics. The analog biophotometer can be used for superficial tissues of biological objects as well as for the diagnosis of not easily accessible areas, which is carried out by means of a fiber optical sensor contained in the apparatus.

The biophysical bases of photoplethysmography in the reflected light were investigated by means of simulating the biological object-photoplethysmographic transducer system. The parameters of the system, exerting the most powerful influence on the photoplethysmographic readings, were defined. The program for selecting an optimal design of the fiber-optical++ sensor to solve concrete functional problems was elaborated.

A laser catheter with fibre optic light guide for surgery is developed. As experimental studies have shown, the laser power at the catheter output was more than 70 Wt. The catheter may operate with both flexible and rigid endoscopes and may be used for coagulation of hemorrhages and destruction of neoplasms.

Experiments on 20 rabbits were made to explore the fluorescent properties of a water-soluble drug pyrroloindolysin administered to the blood vessels. The fluorescent spectra were excited in the UV spectrum. The drug was rapidly accumulated by the heart, with the fluorescence being mainly seen in the structures of the interatrial septum. The data obtained point to the possibility of the use of the described method for fluorescent studies of the different parts and structures of the heart.
