RESUMO
The article gives an objective assessment of remote results of surgical treatment of 197 patients who underwent organ-sparing operations combined with vagotomy for ulcer disease. Combined utilization of contemporary roentgenologic and endoscopic techniques allowed some important conclusions of practical value to be drawn.

The functional peculiarities of transversal gastrointestinal anastomosis performed according to the modified method was investigated with the help of radiological method in 16 mongrel dogs, whom the stomach resection according to Bilroth-II was conducted. The emptying of gastric stump contents occurred in time with small portions. Its reflux into the afferent loop of intestine was not noted. The small intestine filling in was regular all the way. Complete restoration of motor-evacuating function of gastric stump and transit of contents down the small intestine loops was caused by the conduction of the proposed operative procedure.

The authors examined 527 patients who underwent organ-preserving operations with vagotomy for bleeding duodenal ulcers. Motor-evacuation disorders were encountered in 23.3% of patients in the form of gastrostasis. A classification of gastrostasis was formulated on the basis of the obtained data. The possibility of establishing the differential diagnosis of the causes of gastrostasis is shown. The aspects of individualization of the therapeutic tactics according to the etiology and severity of gastrostasis are discussed.

The dynamic x-ray changes in the lungs of 57 cases with severe non-thoracic traumas and shock were studied. 18 patients showed a symmetric injury to the lung, increase of the size of the pulmonary roots and dramatic markedness of the vascular picture within the first hours after trauma. The small peripheral vessels dilated and became very visible. Alveolar oedema was found in 39 patients 6 to 12 hours after trauma. In 11 patients alveolar oedema progressed to massive oedema. Two phases were found in the development of alveolar oedema: microfocal and macrofocal ones.
