RESUMO

In this study, fluorescent carbon dots were synthesized for the first time using ammonium citrate and glutamic acid as precursors via a one-pot hydrothermal method. The synthesized carbon dots emit blue fluorescence at 436 nm (excited at 320 nm) and demonstrate excellent photobleaching resistance and fluorescence stability in high salt environments. Within the range of 1-25 µM, the fluorescence of CDs gradually increases with the increasing concentration of Cd2+, reaching a limit of detection as low as 13 nM. This phenomenon could be ascribed to the chelation-enhanced fluorescence, a result of Cd2+ forming complexes with the abundant surface functional groups such as CN-, -COOH, -OH, -NH2 in CDs. Furthermore, this turn-on fluorescent probe has been successfully used for the detection of Cd2+ in tap water and lake water, providing an efficient and sensitive method for the analysis of environmental metals.

RESUMO

Nitrogen, boron co-doped carbon quantum dots (gCQDs), and a coloration probe (PPD-NPs) with response to cobalt ions (Co2+) were prepared by using 4-hydroxyphenylboric acid as the common precursor, with ethylenediamine and p-phenylenediamine (PPD) adopted as nitrogen-doped reagents, respectively. A noticeable brown-to-purple color change can be observed with the addition of Co2+, and a broad absorption band emerges at 535 nm. At the same time, gCQDs, which is introduced as the fluorescence signal source, will be significantly quenched due to the enhanced inner filtration effect, induced by the overlap between the emission spectrum of gCQDs and the emerging absorption band. Therefore, a colorimetric/fluorescent dual-mode sensing probe for Co2+ is constructed by combining the recognition unit PPD-NPs and the fluorescent gCQDs into PPD-NP/gCQD. Under the optimized experimental conditions, the calculated limits of detection are 1.51 × 10-7 M and 3.75 × 10-7 M for the colorimetric mode and the fluorescence mode, respectively, well qualified for the determination of Co2+ maximum permitted level in drinking water. The feasibility of the proposed method has been verified in tap water, lake water, and black tea samples.

RESUMO

Sweet sorghum has a large biomass and strong cadmium (Cd) absorption capacity, which has the potential for phytoremediation of Cd-contaminated soil. In order to study the Cd phytoremediation effect of sweet sorghum assisted with citric acid on the typical parent materials in southern China, a field experiment was carried out in two typical parent material farmland areas (neutral purple mud field and jute sand mud field) with Cd pollution in Hunan Province. The results showed that:① Citric acid had no inhibitory effect on the growth of sweet sorghum. After the application of citric acid, the aboveground biomass of sweet sorghum at the maturity stage increased by 10.1%-24.7%. ② Both sweet sorghum planting and citric acid application reduced the soil pH value, and the application of citric acid further reduced the soil pH value at each growth stage of sweet sorghum; this decrease was greater in the neutral purple mud field, which decreased by 0.24-0.72 units. ③ Both sweet sorghum planting and citric acid application reduced the total amount of soil Cd, and the decreases in the neutral purple mud field and jute sand mud field were 23.8%-52.2% and 17.1%-31.8%, respectively. The acid-extractable percentage of soil Cd in both places increased by 38.6%-147.7% and 4.8%-22.7%, respectively. ④ The application of citric acid could significantly increase the Cd content in various tissues of sweet sorghum. The Cd content in the aboveground part of the plant in the neutral purple mud field was higher than that in the jute sand mud field, and the Cd content in stems and leaves was 0.25-1.90 mg·kg-1 and 0.21-0.64 mg·kg-1, respectively. ⑤ After applying citric acid, the Cd extraction amount of sweet sorghum in neutral purple mud soil in the mature stage reached 47.56 g·hm-2. In summary, citric acid could enhance the efficiency of sweet sorghum in the phytoremediation of Cd-contaminated soil, and the effect was better in neutral purple mud fields. This technology has the potential for remediation coupled with agro-production for heavy metal-contaminated farmland.

RESUMO

Herein, a fluorescent "on-off-on" nanosensor based on N,S-CDs was developed for highly precise and sensitive recognition of Hg2+ and ampicillin (AMP). Nitrogen and sulfur co-doped carbon dots with blue fluorescence were synthesized by one-pot hydrothermal method using ammonium citrate and DL-methionine as precursors. N,S-CDs exhibited a surface abundant in -OH, -COOH, and -NH2 groups, aiding in creating non-fluorescent ground state complexes when combined with Hg2+, leading to the suppression of N,S-CDs' fluorescence. Subsequent to additional AMP application, the mixed system's fluorescence was restored. Based on this N,S-CDs sensing system, the thresholds for detection for AMP and Hg2+ were discovered to be 0.121 µM and 0.493 µM, respectively. Furthermore, this methodology proved effective in identifying AMP in real samples of tap and lake water, yielding satisfactory results. Consequently, in the area of bioanalysis in intricate environmental sample work, the sensing system showed tremendous promise.

RESUMO

A rice pot experiment was conducted to identify the effect of silica fertilizer prepared from husk ash on the soil bioavailability of cadmium (Cd) and arsenic (As), enzyme activities, microbial community structure, and heavy metal content in brown rice at different growth stages. The results showed that the application of 0.1%-1.0% silica fertilizer-husk ash increased the pH value of soil by 0.04-0.24 units and the content of soil available silicon by 44.2%-97.5%. It also decreased the content of available Cd and available As by 16.2%-21.4% and 16.0%-24.9%, respectively. With the increase in application amount, the soil enzyme activities increased at all growth stages, and the sucrase activity and the dehydrogenase activity significantly increased by 6.3%-145.7% and 6.7%-224.1%, respectively. The analysis of the soil microbial community composition structure at mature stages showed that the application of silica fertilizer-husk ash had no effect on microbial α-diversity, but it had a significant effect on microbial ß-diversity and then promoted microbial growth and maintained the stability of the community structure. With the increase in application amount, the contents of Cd in brown rice decreased by 29.3%-89.7%, and the contents of total As and inorganic As in brown rice decreased by 7.8%-42.3% and 17.2%-44.5%, respectively. Under the application of 0.5% and 1.0% silica fertilizer-husk ash, the Cd contents in brown rice were lower than 0.2 mg·kg-1, and the inorganic As contents in brown rice were lower than 0.35 mg·kg-1. In conclusion, the silica fertilizer-husk ash can improve soil quality and reduce the contents of Cd and As in brown rice, and it is eco-friendly and can be used to remedy the paddy soil contaminated with Cd and As.

RESUMO

In this study, a field experiment was conducted to examine the effects of the application of irrigation water containing Zn at the key growth period (booting stage and filling stage) on exchangeable Cd content in the soil, Cd concentration in pore water, and Cd uptake and transport in rice in a Cd-contaminated paddy field in Liuyang City, Hunan Province. The results indicated that: ① the application of irrigation water containing Zn during the key growth period could inhibit the releasing process of exchangeable Cd from the soil into pore water. Compared with that in the control, the content of exchangeable Cd in soil was slightly changed, but the concentration of Cd in soil pore water at the mature stage was significantly reduced by 16.7%-57.6%. ② The application of irrigation water containing Zn at the key growth period could significantly reduce the Cd content in various parts of rice. Cd contents in root, stem, and brown rice with the application of irrigation water containing 20 mg·L-1 Zn before the booting and the filling stage (BF1) were significantly decreased by 56.0%, 83.8%, and 85.2%, respectively. ③ Compared with the application of 100 mg·L-1 irrigation water containing Zn, the application of 20 mg·L-1 irrigation water containing Zn significantly reduced the uptake and transport of Cd in rice, and the translocation factor (TF) of Cd from rice roots to stems was also significantly reduced by 12.5%-56.3%, with the B1 and BF1 treatments reaching significant levels. These results suggested that the application of irrigation water containing Zn could significantly reduce the uptake and accumulation of Cd in rice, and the application of 20 mg·L-1 irrigation water containing Zn before the booting and filling stage could effectively realize the safe production of Cd-contaminated paddy fields.

RESUMO

Herein, we developed a sophisticated dual-mode sensor that utilized 3-aminophenylboric acid functionalized carbon dots (APBA-CDs) to accurately detect uric acid (UA). Our innovative process involved synthesizing APBA-CDs that emitted at 369 nm using a one-step hydrothermal method with 3-aminophenylboric acid and L-glutamine as precursors, ethanol and deionized water as solvents. Once UA was introduced to the APBA-CDs, the fluorescence of the system became visibly quenched. The results of Zeta potential, Fourier transformed infrared (FTIR) spectra, fluorescence lifetime, and other characteristics were analyzed to determine that the reaction mechanism was static quenching. This meant that after UA was mixed with APBA-CDs, it combined with the boric acid function on the surface to form complexes, resulting in a decrease in fluorescence intensity and a blue shift in the absorption peak at about 295 nm in the Ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) absorption spectra. We were pleased to report that we have successfully used the dual-reading platform to accurately detect UA in serum and human urine. It provided a superior quantitative and visual analysis of UA without the involvement of enzymes. We firmly believe that our innovative dual-mode sensor has immense potential in the fields of biosensing and health monitoring.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the potential role of Tongxinluo (TXL) in attenuating myocardial fibrosis after myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI) in mice. METHODS: A MIRI mouse model was established by left anterior descending coronary artery ligation for 45 min. According to a random number table, 66 mice were randomly divided into 6 groups (n=11 per group): the sham group, the model group, the LY-294002 group, the TXL group, the TXL+LY-294002 group and the benazepril (BNPL) group. The day after modeling, TXL and BNPL were administered by gavage. Intraperitoneal injection of LY-294002 was performed twice a week for 4 consecutive weeks. Echocardiography was used to measure cardiac function in mice. Masson staining was used to evaluate the degree of myocardial fibrosis in mice. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of endothelial mesenchymal transition (EndMT) after MIRI was performed by immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence staining and flow cytometry, respectively. The protein expressions of platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (CD31), α-smoth muscle actin (α-SMA), phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K) and phospho protein kinase B (p-AKT) were assessed using Western blot. RESULTS: TXL improved cardiac function in MIRI mice, reduced the degree of myocardial fibrosis, increased the expression of CD31 and inhibited the expression of α-SMA, thus inhibited the occurrence of EndMT (P<0.05 or P<0.01). TXL significantly increased the protein expressions of PI3K and p-AKT (P<0.05 or P<0.01). There was no significant difference between TXL and BNPL group (P>0.05). In addition, the use of the PI3K/AKT pathway-specific inhibitor LY-294002 to block this pathway and combination with TXL intervention, eliminated the protective effect of TXL, further supporting the protective effect of TXL. CONCLUSION: TXL activated the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway to inhibit EndMT and attenuated myocardial fibrosis after MIRI in mice.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The enzyme Aspartyl tRNA synthetase 2 (DARS2) is a crucial enzyme in the mitochondrial tRNA synthesis pathway, playing a critical role in maintaining normal mitochondrial function and protein synthesis. However, the role of DARS2 in ESCA is unclear. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Transcriptional data of pan-cancer and ESCA were downloaded from UCSC XENA, TCGA, and GEO databases to analyze the differential expression of DARS2 between tumor samples and normal samples, and its correlation with clinicopathological features of ESCA patients. R was used for GO, KEGG, and GSEA functional enrichment analysis of DARS2 co-expression and to analyze the connection of DARS2 with glycolysis and m6A-related genes. In vitro experiments were performed to assess the effects of interfering with DARS2 expression on ESCA cells. TarBase v.8, mirDIP, miRTarBase, ENCORI, and miRNet databases were used to analyze and construct a ceRNA network containing DARS2. RESULTS: DARS2 was overexpressed in various types of tumors. In vitro experiments confirmed that interfering with DARS2 expression significantly affected the proliferation, migration, apoptosis, cell cycle, and glycolysis of ESCA cells. DARS2 may be involved in multiple biological pathways related to tumor development. Furthermore, correlation and differential analysis revealed that DARS2 may regulate ESCA m6A modification through its interaction with METTL3 and YTHDF1. A ceRNA network containing DARS2, DLEU2/has-miR-30a-5p/DARS2, was successfully predicted and constructed. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings reveal the upregulation of DARS2 in ESCA and its association with clinical features, glycolysis pathway, m6A modification, and ceRNA network. These discoveries provide valuable insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying ESCA.

RESUMO

In this paper, we obtained nitrogen and phosphorus co-doped carbon dots through a hydrothermal method using o-phenylenediamine and citric acid in a 40% phosphoric acid environment. The carbon dots emitted fluorescence at 476 nm under excitation at 408 nm and exhibited good selectivity and high sensitivity towards mercury ions. These carbon dots showed excellent dispersibility in water and maintained stable fluorescence even in high concentration salt environments. The interaction between mercury ions and functional groups on the carbon dots surface through electrostatic interaction resulted in static quenching. Simultaneously, by detecting the lifetime and transient absorption spectra of the carbon dots, we observed that the coordination of mercury ions with the carbon dots broadened the band structure of the carbon dots, and the existing photoinduced electron transfer process increased the non-radiative transition channel. The combined effect of dynamic quenching and static quenching significantly reduced the fluorescence intensity of the carbon dots at 476 nm. The carbon dots exhibited linear detection of mercury ions in the range of 0.01-1 µM, with a detection limit as low as 0.0245 µM. In terms of practical water environmental detection applications, these carbon dots were able to effectively detect mercury ions in tap water and lake water, demonstrating their broad application prospects in the field of environmental metal analysis.

RESUMO

With the expansion of human activities, the consequent influx of mercury (Hg) into the food chain and the environment is seriously threatening human life. Herein, nitrogen and sulfur co-doped fluorescent carbon quantum dots (yCQDs) were prepared via a hydrothermal method using o-phenylenediamine (OPD) and taurine as precursors. The morphological characteristics as well as spectral features of yCQDs indicated that the photoluminescence mechanism should be the molecular state fluorophores of 2, 3-diaminophenothiazine (oxOPD), which is the oxide of OPD. The as-synthesized yCQDs exhibited sensitive recognition of Hg2+. According to the investigation in combination of UV-Vis absorption spectra, time-resolved fluorescence spectra and quantum chemical calculations, the abundant functional groups on the surface of yCQDs allowed Hg2+ to bind with yCQDs through various interactions, and the formed complexes significantly inhibited the absorption of excitation light, resulting in the static fluorescence quenching of yCQDs. The proposed yCQDs was utilized for Hg2+ sensing with the limit of detection calculated to be 4.50 × 10- 8 M. Furthermore, the recognition ability of yCQDs for Hg2+ was estimated in tap water, lake water and bottled water, and the results indicated that yCQDs have potential applications in monitoring Hg2+.

RESUMO

Woody plants possess great potential for phytoremediation of heavy metal-contaminated soil. A pot trial was conducted to study growth, physiological response, and Cd and Pb uptake and distribution in black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.), as well as the rhizosphere bacterial communities in Cd and Pb co-contaminated soil. The results showed that R. pseudoacacia L. had strong physiological regulation ability in response to Cd and Pb stress in contaminated soil. The total chlorophyll, malondialdehyde (MDA), soluble protein, and sulfhydryl contents, as well as antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase, peroxidase, catalase) activities in R. pseudoacacia L. leaves under the 40 mg·kg-1 Cd and 1000 mg·kg-1 Pb co-contaminated soil were slightly altered. Cd uptake in R. pseudoacacia L. roots and stems increased, while the Pb content in the shoots of R. pseudoacacia L. under the combined Cd and Pb treatments decreased in relative to that in the single Pb treatments. The bacterial α-diversity indices (e.g., Sobs, Shannon, Simpson, Ace, and Chao) of R. pseudoacacia L. rhizosphere soil under Cd and Pb stress were changed slightly relative to the CK treatment. However, Cd and Pb stress could significantly (p < 0.05) alter the rhizosphere soil microbial communities. According to heat map and LEfSe (Linear discriminant analysis Effect Size) analysis, Bacillus, Sphingomonas, Terrabacter, Roseiflexaceae, Paenibacillus, and Myxococcaceae at the genus level were notably (p < 0.05) accumulated in the Cd- and/or Pb-contaminated soil. Furthermore, the MDA content was notably (p < 0.05) negatively correlated with the relative abundances of Isosphaeraceae, Gaiellales, and Gemmatimonas. The total biomass of R. pseudoacacia L. was positively (p < 0.05) correlated with the relative abundances of Xanthobacteraceae and Vicinamibacreraceae. Network analysis showed that Cd and Pb combined stress might enhance the modularization of bacterial networks in the R. pseudoacacia L. rhizosphere soil. Thus, the assembly of the soil bacterial communities in R. pseudoacacia L. rhizosphere may improve the tolerance of plants in response to Cd and/or Pb stress.

RESUMO

A field experiment was conducted in a lightly Cd-contaminated rice field in Ningxiang City, Hunan Province, to study the effects of straw removal measures on the soil Cd bioavailability and rice Cd accumulation. The results showed that:① two consecutive seasons of straw removal measures (T1-T4 treatments) effectively increased soil pH by 0.04-0.58 units, reduced soil organic matter by 0.68%-25.87%, and reduced the Cd content of rhizosphere soil by 3.76%-12.78%. ② The proportions of Cd in the acid-extractable fraction and oxidizable fraction decreased, and the proportion of Cd in the residual fraction increased. Furthermore, straw removal measures significantly reduced the bioavailability of Cd in rhizosphere soil, and the Cd contents in TCLP, DTPA, and CaCl2 extracts all significantly decreased compared with those in CK. ③ The straw removal measure could significantly reduce the content of DOC and Cd in soil pore water; and the contents of Cd in soil pore water decreased by 4.54%-40.00% and 2.75%-67.34% under the straw removal measure (T1-T4) for two consecutive seasons, respectively, indicating that DOC was one of the key factors affecting the content of Cd in soil pore water. ④ Two consecutive straw removal measures (T1-T4) reduced the accumulation of Cd in different rice tissues, among which, under the treatment of all straw and root removal (T4), the Cd contents of brown rice in late rice planting in 2020 and early rice planting in 2021 decreased by 18.52% and 39.69%, respectively. Therefore, full or partial removal of straw in Cd-contaminated rice fields is a powerful measure to reduce the risk of exceeding Cd levels in brown rice.

RESUMO

Quinolone antibiotics have good antibacterial properties and are commonly used antibiotics in the dairy industry. Currently, the problem of excessive antibiotics in dairy products is very serious. As an ultra-sensitive detection technology, Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) was applied to the detection of quinolone antibiotics in this work. In order to classify and quantify three antibiotics (Ciprofloxacin, Norfloxacin, Levofloxacin) with highly similar molecular structures, a combination of magnetic COF-based SERS substrate and machine learning algorithms (PCA-k-NN, PCA-SVM, PCA-Decision Tree) was used. The classification accuracy of the spectral dataset could reach 100% and the results of LOD calculation were: CIP: 5.61 × 10-9M, LEV: 1.44 × 10-8M, NFX: 1.56 × 10-8M. This provides a new method for the detection of antibiotics in dairy products.

RESUMO

The detection of non-protein nitrogen adulterants is a major challenge in dairy testing. As a marker molecule of animal hydrolyzed protein, the presence of non-edible L-hydroxyproline (L-Hyp) molecules can be used to identify low-quality milk containing components of animal hydrolyzed protein. However, it is still difficult to detect L-Hyp directly in milk. The Ag@COF-COOH substrate in this paper can be used to realize label-free L-Hyp sensitive detection based on the hydrogen bond transition mechanism. To explore the mechanism, the binding sites of hydrogen bond interaction have been verified experimentally and computationally, and the charge transfer process was also explained in terms of HOMO/LOMO energy level. In conclusion, the quantitative models for L-Hyp in an aqueous environment and in milk were developed. The limit of detection (LOD) of L-Hyp in an aqueous environment could reach 8.18 ng/mL, with R2 of 0.982. The linear range of quantitative detection in milk was 0.5-1000 µg/mL and the LOD was as low as 0.13 µg/mL. In this work, a hydrogen bond interaction based Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) method for the label-free detection of L-Hyp was proposed, which complemented the application of SERS technology in the detection of dairy products.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) has become one of the leading causes of disa-bility and death in diabetic patients. Restoring blood supply to the hindlimbs, especially by promoting arteriogenesis, is currently the most effective strategy, in which endothelial cells play an important role. Tongxinluo (TXL) has been widely used for the treatment of cardio-cerebrovascular diseases and extended for diabetes-related vascular disease. AIM: To investigate the effect of TXL on diabetic PAD and its underlying mechanisms. METHODS: An animal model of diabetic PAD was established by ligating the femoral artery of db/db mice. Laser Doppler imaging and micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) were performed to assess the recovery of blood flow and arteriogenesis. Endothelial cell function related to arteriogenesis and cellular pyroptosis was assessed using histopathology, Western blot analysis, enzyme-linked immuno-sorbent assay and real-time polymerase chain reaction assays. In vitro, human vascular endothelial cells (HUVECs) and human vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) were pretreated with TXL for 4 h, followed by incubation in high glucose and hypoxia conditions to induce cell injury. Then, indicators of HUVEC pyroptosis and function, HUVEC-VSMC interactions and the migration of VSMCs were measured. RESULTS: Laser Doppler imaging and micro-CT showed that TXL restored blood flow to the hindlimbs and enhanced arteriogenesis. TXL also inhibited endothelial cell pyroptosis via the reactive oxygen species/nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor family pyrin domain-containing 3/Caspase-1/GSDMD signaling pathway. In addition, TXL restored endothelial cell functions, including maintaining the balance of vasodilation, acting as a barrier to reduce inflammation, and enhancing endothelial-smooth muscle cell interactions through the Jagged-1/Notch-1/ephrin-B2 signaling pathway. Similar results were observed in vitro. CONCLUSION: TXL has a pro-arteriogenic effect in the treatment of diabetic PAD, and the mechanism may be related to the inhibition of endothelial cell pyroptosis, restoration of endothelial cell function and promotion of endothelial cell-smooth muscle cell interactions.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of Tongxinluo (TXL) on thromboangiitis obliterans (TAO) and the underlying mechanisms. METHODS: Ninety male C57/BL6J mice were randomly divided into 6 groups according to a random number table: the sham group, TAO model group, Compound Danshen Tablet (CDT) group, and the high-, medium-, and low-dose TXL groups. All mice except the sham group were injected with sodium laurate (0.1 mL, 5 mg/mL) in the femoral artery to establish TAO mouse model. After modeling, mice in the sham and TAO model groups were intragastrically administered 0.5% (w/v) sodium carboxymethylcellulose, mice in the CDT group were intragastrically administered 0.52 g/kg CDT, and mice in the TXL-H, TXL-M, and TXL-L groups were intragastrically administered 1.5, 0.75, and 0.38 g/kg TXL, respectively. After 4 weeks of gavage, the recovery of blood flow in the lower limbs of mice was detected by Laser Doppler Imaging. The pathological changes and thrombosis of the femoral artery were observed by morphological examination. The expressions of tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in the femoral artery wall were detected by HE staining. Levels of thromboxane B2 (TXB2), 6-keto-prostaglandin F1α (6-keto-PGF1α), endothelin-1 (ET-1), interleukin (IL)-1ß and IL-6 were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Levels of activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), prothrombin time (PT), thrombin time (TT) and fibrinogen (FIB) were detected by a fully automated biochemical analyzer. RESULTS: TXL promoted the restoration of blood flow in the lower limbs, reduced the area of thrombosis in the femoral artery, and alleviated the pathological changes in the femoral artery wall. Moreover, the levels of TXB2, ET-1, IL-6, IL-1ß, TNF-α and iNOS were significantly lower in the TXL groups compared with the model group (P<0.05 or P<0.01), while the level of 6-keto-PGF1α was significantly higher (P<0.01). In addition, APTT, PT, and TT were significantly prolonged in TXL groups compared with the model group (P<0.05 or P<0.01), and FIB levels were significantly decreased compared with the model group (P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS: TXL had a protective effect on TAO mice, and the mechanism may involve inhibition of thrombosis and inflammatory responses. TXL may be a potential drug for the treatment of TAO.

RESUMO

In this study, we synthesized stable nitrogen-doped carbon dots by a simple and economical one-step hydrothermal method using l-cysteine and anhydrous ethylenediamine as precursors. The prepared carbon dots have bright and stable blue light emission near 383 nm and can be used as fluorescent probes to detect the concentration of Fe3+ in environmental waters. It was demonstrated that due to intermolecular electrostatic interaction, a non-fluorescent complex N-CDs/Fe3+ is formed by coordination of Fe3+ with amino and carboxyl functional groups on the surface of carbon dots. Therefore, in combination with internal filtration effect, the fluorescence of carbon dots can be quenched in the presence of Fe3+, and the degree of quenching is linearly related to the concentration of Fe3+. The limit of detection in deionized water was as low as 0.069 µM with R2 of 0.998 and a linear range of 0.3 to 20 µM. In addition, satisfactory recoveries were achieved for the determination of Fe3+ in environmental water samples. The method is reliable, with highly sensitivity and selectivity, and has potential for practical applications in environmental metal analysis.

RESUMO

Sodium thiocyanate (NaSCN) can be added to fresh milk to enhance the sterilization ability of the lactoperoxidase system (LP system) in milk, extending shelf life. However, excessive intake of NaSCN can be harmful to human health because it can prevent absorption of iodine leading to disease. Also NaSCN can be used as a marker to distinguish smokers from non-smokers. In this work, we successfully synthesized meatball-like Al2O3@Ag composite structures as surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates using a simple wet chemical method adapted to conventional laboratory conditions. The substrate exhibited strong SERS enhancement for NaSCN. Under the optimal experiment conditions, we obtained a detection limit of 0.28 µg L-1 and a quantification limit of 1 µg L-1, R2 = 0.992. Based on the analysis of the intensity of SERS characteristic peak, the substrate had good reproducibility and uniformity. In summary, the Al2O3@Ag composite structure achieved sensitive SERS detection of NaSCN. Combining the facile and low-cost methods, we believe that the SERS detection method developed in this work can be used as a potential candidate for biosensing applications in the future.

RESUMO

The accurate detection of fructose in human urine can help prevent and screen for diseases such as fructokinase deficiency and hereditary fructose intolerance. Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is an analytical technique with selectivity and high sensitivity, which has been widely applied to the detection of targets with complex backgrounds. In this work, 4-mercaptophenylboronic acid (4-MPBA) was modified on the surface of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) under mild conditions to obtain a boronic acid-functionalized SERS substrate for the detection of fructose in artificial urine. The detection mechanism was based on the deboronization reaction of 4-MPBA on the surface of AgNPs, which was induced by fructose, and the Raman signal of the generated thiophenol (TP) molecules was significantly enhanced by the silver nanoparticles, with a linear increase in SERS peak intensity at 1570 cm-1. We achieved the detection limits of 0.084 µmol/L in water and 0.535 µmol/L in urine by this method. The relative standard deviation (RSD) in the recovery experiments of urine ranged from 1.01 % to 2.22 %, and the whole detection time was less than 10 min, which indicated that this method is highly reliable for fructose detection and has a good prospect in bioassay and clinical medicine.
