RESUMO

In recent years, compute-in-memory (CIM) has been extensively studied to improve the energy efficiency of computing by reducing data movement. At present, CIM is frequently used in data-intensive computing. Data-intensive computing applications, such as all kinds of neural networks (NNs) in machine learning (ML), are regarded as 'soft' computing tasks. The 'soft' computing tasks are computations that can tolerate low computing precision with little accuracy degradation. However, 'hard' tasks aimed at numerical computations require high-precision computing and are also accompanied by energy efficiency problems. Numerical computations exist in lots of applications, including partial differential equations (PDEs) and large-scale matrix multiplication. Therefore, it is necessary to study CIM for numerical computations. This article reviews the recent developments of CIM for numerical computations. The different kinds of numerical methods solving partial differential equations and the transformation of matrixes are deduced in detail. This paper also discusses the iterative computation of a large-scale matrix, which tremendously affects the efficiency of numerical computations. The working procedure of the ReRAM-based partial differential equation solver is emphatically introduced. Moreover, other PDEs solvers, and other research about CIM for numerical computations, are also summarized. Finally, prospects and the future of CIM for numerical computations with high accuracy are discussed.

RESUMO

Realgar as a kind of arsenic agent is currently used to treat APL in China. The effectiveness and low toxicity of realgar have been verified, lower than arsenic trioxide. Although the therapeutic efficacy of realgar is blocked severely by its poor insolubility in water. In our lab, we addressed this problem by obtaining realgar bioleaching solution (RBS) from microbiological leaching technique. To develop a tradition Chinese medicinal formula (TCMF) for clinical application realgar is usually used with other herbs. However, treated realgar with RBS has not been evaluated in TCMF contain realgar. In the present study we used NB4 to investigate the effects of novel Realgar-Indigo naturalis formula (FRBS) on cell proliferation and apoptosis. We used MTT assay to measure anti proliferative activity of FRBS. We further study the effects of FRBS on cell growth and apoptosis according flow cytometry, DNA fragmentation assay and Fluorescence microscopy and Western blot. The results revealed that FRBS significantly inhibited growth in a dose-dependent manner, and induced apoptosis in NB4 cells. NB4 cell inhibitory response to FRBS at 2µg ml-1 of arsenic concentration was twofold higher, dissimilar to RIF, and induced apoptosis more effectively. Further, a higher expression of caspase-3, caspase-9 and cytochrome C from increased from FRBS. RBS can substitute the traditional realgar powder in RIF in order to provide a novel and promising Realgar-Indigo naturalis formula to treat acute promyelocytic leukemia.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To deepen the understanding of chronic subdural hematoma and to seek the effective treatment for chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH). METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed a series of 17 consecutive patients with CSDH, who received the treatment of bone flap craniotomy. To explore the surgical indications for CSDH, the data of imaging appearance, intraoperative findings and postoperative complications were analyzed. RESULTS: Among the patients, 13 were septated CSDH, with the characteristic imaging features such as anti-"3" impression in the inner edge of the hematoma and fibrous strap structure in the hematoma. Four patients were organized CSDH, with strong signals of T1 and T2 as well as hypointense netlike structure within the hematoma cavity while low signal on MRI in the thickened inner membrane. Burr hole trepanation was performed, but no improvement were achieved, whereas the bone flap craniotomy removed the hematoma completely without serious surgical complication except 1 case. CONCLUSION: Based on the preoperative imaging data, flap bone craniotomy seems to be the first choice for treatment of CSDH.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study angiogenesis patterns in the edematous area and the center of human astrocytomas by histological observation, and to reveal histological basis of vasculogenic mimicry. METHOD: Tissue samples were drawn from the tumor center and the edematous area in 51 patients with human astrocytomas during operation MR and were examined by CD34 endothelial marker periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) dual staining. RESULTS: Vessels or capillaries stained by both PAS and CD34 were found in edematous areas of human astrocytomas. Besides vessels or capillaries stained by both PAS and CD34, vasculogenic mimicries (PAS-positive and CD34-negative tubes containing red blood cells and lined by neoplastic cells), PAS-positive and CD34-negative tubes containing red blood cells and without cells around, PAS-positive and partial CD34-positive vessels or capillaries, and PAS-positive and CD34-negtive vessels or capillaries were detected in the center of tumor of 4 human glioblastomas. CONCLUSIONS: Vasculogenic mimicries in the center of some high-grade astrocytomas may be caused by blood capillary dysplasia, while angiogenesis patterns are vessels or capillaries in the edematus area and the center of most human astrocytomas.
