RESUMO

Interest in the application of sewage sludge as amendments to grow trees has continued to increase, especially for fast-growing trees such as poplars. In this study, two-year field trial was conducted to determine the effects of compost sewage sludge (CSS) soil application on the distributions of metal and nutrient elements in poplars (Populus × euramericana 'Guariento') and poplar growth. Soil was amended with one of four CSS treatments in both study years: control (2012, 2013: 0 t/ha), SS1 (2012: 7.5 t/ha, 2013: 15 t/ha), SS2 (2012: 15 t/ha, 2013: 30 t/ha), and SS3 (2012: 30 t/ha, 2013: 45 t/ha). During the two-year field trial period, CSS treatments significantly affected leaf K, Mg, Ni, Cr, and Pb contents and root P contents. The element contents in different plant parts responded differently to the different CSS application rates; microelement contents in roots and trace element contents in leaves were significantly affected by the high sludge treatment. The CSS application significantly influenced Ca, Na, Cu, Ni, and Pb accumulation in aerial parts of poplar and the distributions of N, S, Ni, Mg, and P between roots and leaves or stems, and significantly increased the diameter at breast height (DBH) of poplars by 2.4-18.6%. The CSS application of 15 t/ha per year resulted in the largest average increase in DBH of 11.1%; therefore, it could be considered as the most suitable application rate. In summary, CSS application can improve nutrition uptake in various parts of poplars and promote the growth of poplar. Poplar forest amendment is a good CSS disposal strategy.

RESUMO

Objective@#To investigate the heart rate control situation of chronic heart failure (CHF) patients who received cardiovascular implantable electronic device (CIED) therapy, and to assess the heart rate control efficacy by optimized medication adjustment.@*Methods@#We performed a perspective study in heart failure with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (HFrEF) patients who received CIED according to guideline recommendations, patients were enrolled from January 2012 to January 2017. Resting heart rate (RHR) recorded by electrocardiogram after 10 minutes' rest and medication usage within 1 month were recorded at baseline. RHR less than 70 beats per minute (bpm) was regarded as well controlled. β-receptor blockers and (or) ivabradine would be added in patients whose RHR were over 70 bpm. RHR after optimized medication adjustment was recorded during follow-up period.@*Results@#One hundred and fifty patients were included in this study with average RHR (80.6±11.9) bpm. RHR was<70 bpm in 27.3% (41/150) patients at baseline and β-receptor blockers was underused in 80.7% patients (88/109) whose RHR was>70 bpm. The overall RHR decreased to (73.1±10.4) bpm and percent of patients with RHR<70 bpm increased to 70.0% (105/150) after up-titration of β-receptor blockers compared to baseline (χ2=52.958, P<0.001). Ivabradine was added in the rest 45 patients and RHR was<70 bpm in 43 out of 45 patients after ivabradine use. The overall RHR decreased to (67.1±2.7) bpm and percent of RHR<70 bpm significantly increased to 98.7% (148/150) (χ2=44.504, P<0.001 vs. up-titration of β-receptor blockers only).@*Conclusion@#RHR in CHF patients who received CIED therapy is not ideally controlled in this patient cohort, individual up-titration ofβ-receptor blockers and ivabradine use may help to optimize RHR in these patients.

RESUMO

To describe the effects of endogenous testosterone levels on the visuospatial ability.Thevisuospatial ability, testosteronewere included as the key words, retrieving 46 papers in the database.35 relevant papers have been reviewed in the paper,as the results,we have found that the visuospatial ability of male was better than female. The performances of the visuospatial tasks in males were associated with the lev-els of endogenous testosterone, and the effects comprised two aspects:the organizational function and activa-tional function of the testosterone. The latter have received more attention from researchers.Until now, most studies of activational effects of testosterone on visuospatial ability remained on the level of behavioral re-search.The mental rotation task, navigation task and virtual reality scenes tasks were implied in these stud-ies.A nonlinear relationship has aroused a great controversy.Latest research suggests that further investiga-tion of the neural mechanisms related to visual-spatial ability is needed, using ERP and MRI techniques,to assess the relationship of endogenous testosterone levels with the relevant neural basis of visuospatial ability.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study crave-related cerebral regions induced by game figure cues in online game addicts. fMRI brain imaging was done when the subjects were shown picture cues of the WoW (World of Warcraft, Version: 4.1.014250) game. METHODS: 10 male addicts of WoW were selected as addicts' group, and 10 other healthy male non-addicts who were matched by age, were used as non-game addicts' group. All volunteers participated in fMRI paradigms. WoW associated cue pictures and neutral pictures were shown. We examined functional cerebral regions activated by the pictures with 3.0 T Philips MRI. The imaging signals' database was analyzed by SPM5. The correlation between game craving scores and different image results were assessed. RESULTS: When the game addicts watch the pictures, some brain areas show increased signal activity namely: dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, bilateral temporal cortex, cerebellum, right inferior parietal lobule, right cuneus, right hippocampus, parahippocampal gyrus, left caudate nucleus. But in these same brain regions we did not observe remarkable activities in the control group. Differential image signal densities of the addict group were subtracted from the health control group, results of which were expressed in the bilateral dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, anterior cingulate cortex, inferior parietal lobe and inferior temporal gyrus, cerebellum, right insular and the right angular gyrus. The increased imaging signal densities were significant and positively correlated with the craving scale scores in the bilateral prefrontal cortex, anterior cingulate cortex and right inferior parietal lobe. CONCLUSIONS: Craving of online game addicts was successfully induced by game cue pictures. Crave related brain areas are: dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, anterior cingulate cortex, and right inferior parietal lobe. The brain regions are overlapped with cognitive and emotion related processing brain areas.
