RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The aim: A systematic analysis and generalization of scienti!c information of Ukrainian scientists about planning of the stages of diagnosis of patients with TMJ diseases, which will allow to optimize the commonly accepted examination algorithm. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and methods: Scienti!c analysis and generalization of obtained data of literary sources of Ukrainian scientists articles with characteristics of planning stages of diagnosis of patients with TMJ diseases is based on such databases as Scopus, Web of Science, MedLine, PubMed, NCBI, the study of which does not exceed 6 years, including monographs and results clinical research. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: The results of scienti!c research by Ukrainian scientists are the basis for increasing the effectiveness of diagnosis of TMJ diseases by improving complex examination methods and implementing clinical algorithms, which will allow to choose adequate treatment methods.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The aim: To assess the actual prevalence of rubber dam usage among general dentists. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and methods: Surveyed participants were offered a questionnaire containing 14 questions about gender, country of origin, clinical experience, time and place of acquisition of skills of rubber dam, as well as the frequency of its usage. RESULTS: Results: 30.69% of dentists always use rubber dams for direct restorations; 74.26% always use rubber dams during root canals treatment; 36.3% always use rubber dam for bonding indirect restorations. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: The prevalence of rubber usage among general dentists shows positive growth dynamics, but the frequency is still considered insufficient.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Introduction: Abrasion of teeth significantly affects electromyography results. Analyzing electromyograms of patients who needs complex rehabilitation, it is necessary to note absence of dissociation of the structure, appearance of spontaneous activity in one of the muscles, presence of the prevailing chewing side, appearance of low-amplitude oscillations in biocurrents. The aim: The purpose of this study was to determine the role of anterior teeth in the rehabilitation of patients with increased abrasion. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Material and methods: The experimental group involved patients (men and women) aged 20 to 59 years with increased abrasion of teeth I-III degrees. Patients were provided with all the necessary complexes of rehabilitation measures: direct restorations with composite materials using the adhesive system of the Vth generation (in case of light abrasion), indirect ceramic restorations (severe abrasion). All work was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki (1964) and was approved by the Ethical Committee of the academy. RESULTS: Results: Activity of the right masseter muscle was slightly higher than that of the left one (313.42 ± 97.96 ms. against 226.69 ± 35.39 ms. respectively). At the same time the resting time of the left and right masseter muscles slightly differs (300.57 ± 30.93 ms. and 307.96 ± 49.47 ms. respectively). CONCLUSION: Conclusions: Rehabilitation of patients with increased abrasion using combined methods (direct composite restorations with the adhesive system of Vth generation and indirect ceramic restorations), give the possibility to restore the masticatory function (evidenced by an increase in the activity of right and leftmasseter muscle on 2%, a decrease in the rest phase on 20% almost and an increase in amplitude on 2.9%).

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Introduction: Supernumerary teeth, like etiological factor of impaction, occur in 7,05% of patients, are usually located in anterior maxillary region - 93,2%. The aim of the study is to develop an algorithm of treatment of patients with impaction of permanent maxillary central incisors, caused by supernumerary teeth, during periods of mixed and permanent dentition by processing our own approaches to treatment. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and methods: Treatment results of seven patients (6, 7 (2 patients), 8, 9, 10 and 15 years old) with delay in eruption of maxillary central incisors were analyzed. According to the results of clinical and additional examination methods (photometric examination of face, study of diagnostic models of jaws and orthopantomograms, 3D computed tomography), impacted central incisors, supernumerary teeth, blocking their eruption, were diagnosed. RESULTS: Results: Clinical experience of treatment of patients with impacted teeth caused by presence of supernumerary teeth in the jaws, allowed us to propose algorithms of providing complex treatment in such cases, depending on physiological state of occlusion - mixed or permanent, and depth of supernumerary tooth location. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: If there are no central incisors in the dental arch after the term of their physiological eruption, orthopantomogram must be taken to confirms or reject tooth impaction, and then 3D computed tomography should be done to show accurate localization of the tooth and only after these stages it is possible to choose the treatment plan. Patients with impacted maxillary central incisors caused by supernumerary teeth should undergo orthodontic treatment in several stages.
