RESUMO

A total of 49 patients with rheumatism running a sluggish course, were examined, as were those with decompensated tonsillitis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and 20 essentially healthy subjects. In inactive rheumatism an increase in the killer activity of lymphocytes and augmentation of amounts of Fc+lymphocytes were revealed, which values were significantly different from those in the other groups. The detected changes in the activity of lymphocytes may serve as differential-diagnostic criteria.

RESUMO

The group of 18 men exposed to radiation during amelioration work in the Chernobyl NPP was examined in the course of adaptation to intermittent hypoxia (rebreathing technique during 10 days of three daily 5-7 min sessions with 15 min break). The starting level of ventilatory response to hypoxic stimulus (HVR) did not differ from the one in persons living in non-contaminated areas. This hypoxic training (HT) caused the increase of HVR, activity of NADPH-oxidase and cationic protein content in neutrophils as well as various changes in myeloperoxidase activity. The correlation between respiration reactivity and deviations in neutrophil metabolism under HT was found.

RESUMO

Sixty-five patients with subleukemic myelosis (SLM) during the stage of advanced clinical manifestations were evaluated for parameters characterizing immunologic reactivity. Infectious- inflammatory processes in SLM were found out to develop in the presence of immunity deficiency manifested by the depression of T-and phagocytic link of immunity. Superimposed infection in this pathology promotes further depression of T-link of immunity as well as activation of those cellular parameters characterizing the nonspecific defence.

RESUMO

T-cell immunity was assessed in 111 patients with subleukemic myelosis. In such patients with large tumor mass and leukemia exacerbation the amount of immunocompetent cells and their functional activity were reduced more prominently. Association of infection and inflammation promoted aggravation of initial immune deficiency.

RESUMO

A study was made of cytotoxic activity of lymphocytes and neutrophils in the peripheral blood of 16 patients with advanced stage Kahler's disease, 4 patients in terminal stage, 14 patients with advanced stage chronic lymphoid leukosis, and 6 patients in the terminal stage disease. It has been shown that the level of cytotoxic activity of leucocytes in tumor diseases on the immunity B-system is a criterion for the extent to which the tumor process has been disseminated.

RESUMO

An evaluation was done of parameters of neutrophilic link of fagocytosis in 177 patients with chronic myeloleukemia during the course of the illness. All parameters characterizing the phagocyte reaction got reduced compared to normal findings, with the chronic myeloleukemia patients presenting with great size tumors manifesting somewhat more apparent reduction. Pyo-inflammatory processes were found to be most common among those persons presenting with manifest suppression of the phagocytosis function.

RESUMO

Immunological reactivity and factors of nonspecific body defense were studied in 35 patients with advanced chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Prior to cytostatic therapy, CML patients have secondary combined immunodeficiency manifesting by inhibition of T-system immunity and phagocytic neutrophil activity. Repeated courses of myelosan chemotherapy aggravate the above immune defects. The adjuvant immunomodulator tactivin corrects cellular immunity and reduces the occurrence of infectious complications 1.77-fold.

RESUMO

The author studied natural cellular cytotoxicity (NCC) and antibody-dependent cytotoxicity (ADC) in lymphocytes from 31 patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and 37 patients with subleukemic myeloleukemia (SLM) in active clinical stage. The above parameters were found low in both diseases. Cytostatic therapy for CML did not affect NCC, but inhibited ADC. SLM treatment with myelobromol inhibited both cytotoxic responses. Combined therapy with adjuvant tactivin stimulated cytotoxic reactions activity. Tactivin positive effects persisted for two months.

RESUMO

The paper provides the results of experimental studies of the effects of heparin given to albino rats with vasorenal hypertension in a dose of 150 U/kg on electrolyte levels in plasma, erythrocytes, cardiac and abdominal aortic tissues, the viscosity coefficient and charge of erythrocytic suspension, transmural difference of abdominal aortic potentials. Heparin has been shown to correct hypertension-induced changes in the transmural difference of abdominal aortic potentials, the charge and viscosity coefficient of erythrocytic suspension, the gradient of sodium, potassium, and calcium in the system of erythrocyte-plasma-abdominal aortic wall.

RESUMO

Out of 177 patients with advanced chronic myeloid leukemia infectious complications developed in 23.66%. The chief reason for emergence of bacterial processes in chronic myeloid leukemia is attributed to qualitative and quantitative insufficiency of phagocytizing and immunocompetent cells provoking disturbance of cooperative interaction between lymphocytes and neutrophils.

RESUMO

The study of natural killers' (NK) activity was carried out in 114 patients with myelo-proliferative diseases (MPD). Fall of NK-activity was found in all patients. Chronic myeloleukemia was associated with the most considerable decrease of blood leukocytes' cytotoxicity. Patents with gross tumorous mass and exacerbation of leukemic process revealed reduced NK activity as compared to those with low mass of tumor and stable leukemia.

RESUMO

A study of functional activity of segmentonuclear neutrophil granulocytes of the peripheral blood in 20 patients with subleukemic myelosis (SLM) and 20 patients with polycythemia vera (PV) revealed in the latter an increase of the functional activity of phagocytosis, oxygen-dependent metabolism and enzymatic activity were more pronounced than in SLM. Nonhomogeneity of morphological and cytochemical indices and patients with SLM and IP may be used as supplementary differential diagnostic criterion in SLM and IP.

RESUMO

Concentration of circulating immune complexes (CIC) and cytotoxicity (natural and antibody-dependent) of blood lymphocytes were studied in 52 patients at the developed stage of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Elevation of CIC level and reduction of cytotoxicity detectable in all CML patients were most manifest in those with high tumor mass and during exacerbation of the leukemia process. A conclusion has been made that CIC are suppressors of natural and antibody-dependent cytotoxicity of blood lymphocytes in CML patients.

RESUMO

A study of 32 patients with chronic lympholeucosis (CL) revealed a reduction of the number of phagocytosing neutrophil granulocytes and a reduction of production of humoral mediators by lymphocytes that stimulated the phagocytic function of granulocytes. It is shown that treatment by usually used cytostatic agents did not essentially effect the investigated values. Inclusion of proper-myl in the treatment course of patients with chronic lympholeucosis furthered increase of the number of phagocytosing neutrophil granulocytes and an increased production of humoral mediator stimulating the phagocytic activity of granulocytes.
