RESUMO

This work reports the effect of different processing parameters on the structural and morphological characteristics of MoSe2 layers grown by chemical vapour deposition (CVD), using MoO3 and Se powders as solid precursors. It shows the strong dependence of the size, shape and thickness of the MoSe2 layers on the processing parameters. The morphology of the samples was investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and the thickness of the deposited layers was determined by atomic force microscopy (AFM). Raman and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopies were used to confirm the high quality of the MoSe2 layers. Surface composition was examined by photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Moreover, the MoSe2/SiOx/Si heterojunctions exhibit diode behaviour, with a rectification ratio of 10, measured at ±2.0 V, which is due to the p-i-n heterojunctions formed at the p-Si/SiOx/MoSe2 interface. A photovoltaic effect was observed with a short circuit current density (Jsc), open circuit voltage (VOC) and efficiency of -0.80 mA/cm2, 1.55 V and 0.5%, respectively. These results provide a guide for the preparation of p-i-n heterojunctions based on few-layer MoSe2 with improved photovoltaic response.

RESUMO

Resveratrol is a polyphenol found in different plant species and having numerous health-promoting properties in animals and humans. However, its protective action against deleterious effects of ethanol is poorly elucidated. In the present study, the influence of resveratrol (10 mg/kg/day) on some hormones and metabolic parameters was determined in rats ingesting 10 % ethanol solution for two weeks. Blood levels of insulin, glucagon and adiponectin were affected by ethanol, however, resveratrol partially ameliorated these changes. Moreover, in ethanol drinking rats, liver lipid accumulation was increased, whereas resveratrol was capable of reducing liver lipid content, probably due to decrease in fatty acid synthesis. Resveratrol decreased also blood levels of triglycerides and free fatty acids and reduced gamma-glutamyl transferase activity in animals ingesting ethanol. These results show that resveratrol, already at low dose, alleviates hormonal and metabolic changes induced by ethanol in the rat and may be useful in preventing and treating some consequences of alcohol consumption.

RESUMO

The authors have demonstrated the statistically significant decrease of aldolase and pyruvate kinase activity in erythrocytes in a group of men with hypogonadism and with a significant defect of gonad endocrinologic function. A similar phenomenon appeared in erythrocytes in a group of sexually mature rabbits after castration. In the course of substitutional treatment with testosterone esters given intramuscularly, the increase of activity characteristic for both examined glycolytic enzymes was observed in both experimental groups, i.e. the patients and the animals. The pyruvate kinase increase, however, was not statistically significant in the examined group of men, which resulted from the small size of the group. The authors suggest the existence of testosterone influence on regular activity of bone marrow glycolytic enzymes, and consequently on the mature erythrocytes. The decrease of aldolase and pyruvate kinase activity in erythrocytes of patients with male hypogonadism may decrease the erythrocytes valence. This ist another biochemical argument for the need of conducting long-term substitutional therapy in cases of male hypogonadism.
