RESUMO
The computed tomography findings in a case of recurrent retroperitoneal hemangiopericytoma with an abdominal wall metastasis are reported. The lesions were well-circumscribed solid masses with varying computed tomography densities. The computed tomography findings in hemangiopericytoma are not pathognomonic; however, a patient with a history of this tumor, computed tomography can suggest recurrence or metastasis and define the location and extent of disease prior to surgical intervention.

Mucocele of the appendix is an uncommon entity infrequently diagnosed prior to surgery or autopsy. Patients may be asymptomatic or present with a palpable right lower quadrant mass and/or pain. Barium enema findings are nonspecific and include nonfilling of the appendix and occasionally mass impression on the cecum. When visualized, calcification of the rim of a right lower quadrant mass may aid in diagnosis. The sonographic appearance in two cases is presented and compared with that in three other case reports in the literature, illustrating a spectrum of sonographic findings. Differential diagnosis is discussed.

The history of a 27-year-old woman with 10 years of episodic abdominal pain and the development of calcific pancreatitis secondary to hyperlipoproteinemia is presented. The relationship between familial and alcoholic hyperlipidemia and pancreatitis is discussed as well as the mechanism of injury to the pancreas.

A review of abdominal radiographs of 50 patients with the clinical diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis showed calcific pancreatitis in 27 patients. Ten patients had severe pain associated with weight loss. Five had obstruction of the duct of Wirsung: one by a pseudocyst and four by large stones near the ampulla of Vater. The radiologic workup presented emphasizes the need to study the duct of Wirsung in patients with chronic pancreatitis to guide the surgical approach for relief of intractavle pain. Theories regarding the pathophysiology of calcium deposition and stone formation and migration are reviewed.
