RESUMO

Atherosclerosis is a disease that covers the arteries of the middle to large arteries and can affect the aorta to the coronary arteries. Atherosclerosis is a progressive and slow process that begins in childhood and leads to clinical manifestations in adulthood. Increased activity of the NADPH oxidase complex plays an important role in the development of this complication. In this study, the clinical effects of resveratrol were considered on atherosclerosis treatment and its effect on the expression of NADPH oxidase complex genes was performed in the vascular smooth muscle cell line. For this purpose, 120 Chinese Patients prone to atherosclerosis participated for 12 months. These patients were divided into two groups of 60 patients. The first group was treated to the placebo and the second group was treated to 100 mg/day resveratrol for 12 months. Also, the expression of gp91Phox and P22Phox subunits of NADPH oxidase complex was evaluated in vascular smooth muscle cells by real-time PCR technique. The results showed that resveratrol could decrease systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, cholesterol, triglyceride, and low-density lipoprotein (LDL). It was also able to reduce the expression of gp91Phox and P22Phox subunits of NADPH oxidase complex in the vascular smooth muscle cell line. Therefore, it is possible to introduce resveratrol as an able medicine to treat atherosclerosis. However, more studies are needed to complete the information about the role of resveratrol.

RESUMO

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy of self-made Wenyang-Huoxue Decoction combined with gestrinone capsule in the treatment of adenomyosis dysmenorrhea. Methods:A total of 88 patients with adenomyosis dysmenorrhea who met the inclusion criteria in Datong Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from January 2016 to December 2018 were enrolled and divided into two groups according to random number table method, 44 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional western medicine and the study group was treated with self-made Wenyang-Huoxue Decoction on the basis of the control group. Two groups were treated continuously for 6 months. The TCM syndrome score and dysmenorrhea score were performed before and after treatment. The vaginal ultrasound was used to detect and calculate uterine volume, Nottingham Health Poofite (NHP) was used to evaluate the quality of life. The ELISA was used to detect serum carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125), TNF-α and IL-8 levels. The clinical efficacy was evaluated. Results:The total effective rate of the study group was 93.2% (41/44) and that of the control group was 72.7% (32/44), where the difference between the two groups was statistically significant ( χ2=6.510, P<0.01). After treatment, the TCM syndrome score, dysmenorrhea score and uterine volume of the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group ( t values were 7.956, 4.959 and 4.235, respectively, all Ps<0.01); the scores of pain, energy, emotion, sleep, social activity and physical activity were significantly lower than those in the control group ( t values were 8.592, 9.341, 6.652, 13.597, 4.085, 7.858, respectively, all Ps<0.01). After treatment, serum CA125 (33.02 ± 5.11 IU/ml vs. 46.22 ± 6.51 IU/ml, t=10.580), TNF-α (41.13 ± 5.03 pg/ml vs. 55.50 ± 6.15 pg/ml, t=11.997) and IL-8 (38.02 ± 5.50 pg/ml vs. 49.42 ± 6.51 pg/ml, t=8.873) in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group ( P<0.01). Conclusions:Self-made Wenyang-Huoxue Decoction combined with gestrinone capsule can reduce the levels of serum CA125, TNF-α and IL-8 in patients with adenomyosis dysmenorrhea, and improve the clinical symptoms, and the quality of life.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the protective effect of total flavonoids from the leaves of Choerospondias axillaris (TFLC) on myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury (MIRI) model rats. METHODS: Male SD rats were randomly divided into sham operation group, model group, positive control group (verapamil, 0.02 g/kg), TFLC low-dose and high-dose groups (0.1, 0.4 g/kg), with 10 rats in each group. Administration groups were intragastrically given relevant medicine (2 mL/100 g); sham operation group and model group were given constant volume of normal saline intragastrically, once a day, for consecutive 7 d. After last medication, MIRI model was induced by modified ligation method. The times and duration of ventricular tachycardia (VT) and ventricular fibrillation (VF) in rats were recorded with biological function experiment system during reperfusion period.The activity of CK and contents of TNF-α, IL-6, NF-κB and NO in serum were determined by ELISA double antibody clip art assay. The morphological characteristics of myocardial tissue was observed by HE staining. The myocardial infarction scope (i.e. the ratio of myocardial tissue mass to ventricular mass) was measured by TTC method. RESULTS: Compared with sham operation group, the times and duration of VT and VF were increased or prolonged significantly in model group; CK activity, serum contents of TNF-α, IL-6 and NF-κB were enhanced or increased significantly, while NO content was decreased significantly (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Obvious myocardial infarction focus, serious cell structure damage, disorderly muscle fibers arrangement, cell nucleus pyknosis and accompanied inflammatory cell infiltration were all observed in cardiac tissue; the mass of infarcted myocardial tissue and ventricular as well as the scope of myocardial infarction increased significantly (P<0.01). Compared with model group, the times and duration of VT and VF were decreased or shortened significantly in administration groups; CK activity, serum contents of TNF-α, IL-6, NF-κB were decreased significantly, while NO content was increased significantly (P<0.05 or P<0.01). The above symptoms of myocardial injury were improved;the mass of infarcted myocardial tissue and ventricular as well as the scope of myocardial infarction was significantly reduced (P<0.05 or P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS: TFLC can relieve MIRI-induced ischemic arrhythmia and myocardial damage, reduce the release of inflammatory factors, promote the recovery of myocardial and endothelial cell function, reduce the scope of myocardial infarction and has a certain protective effect.
