BACKGROUND: There are relatively few studies on continuing care of coronary heart disease (CHD), and its research value needs to be further clarified. AIM: To investigate the effect of continuous nursing on treatment compliance and side effect management in patients with CHD. METHODS: This is a retrospective study with patients from January 2021 to 2023. The study was divided into two groups with 30 participants in each group. Self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and Self-rating depression scale (SDS) were used to assess patients' anxiety and depression, and medical coping questionnaire was used to assess patients' coping styles. The pelvic floor dysfunction questionnaire (PFDI-20) was used to assess the status of pelvic floor function, including bladder symptoms, intestinal symptoms, and pelvic symptoms. RESULTS: SAS score decreased from 57.33 ± 3.01before treatment to 41.33 ± 3.42 after treatment, SDS score decreased from 50.40 ± 1.45 to 39.47 ± 1.57. The decrease of these two indexes was statistically significant (P < 0.05). PFDI-20 scores decreased from the mean 16.83 ± 1.72 before treatment to 10.47 ± 1.3the mean after treatment, which was statistically significant (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The results of this study indicate that pioneering research in continuous care of CHD has a positive impact on improving patients' treatment compliance, reducing anxiety and depression levels, and improving coping styles and pelvic floor functional status.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to explore inflammation of soft tissue around the upper third molar as a prevalent cause of limited mouth opening, identify the clinical and radiographic features, and summarize the therapeutic effectiveness of tooth extraction. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective analysis of data from 264 patients with limited mouth opening over the last five years was performed. RESULTS: Among the 264 patients, 24 (9.1%) had inflammation of the soft tissue around the upper third molar, which was the second most common cause of limited mouth opening. Twenty-one of the twenty-four affected patients, with an average mouth opening of 19.1 ± 7.6 mm, underwent upper third molar extraction. Gingival tenderness around the upper third molar or maxillary tuberosity mucosa was a characteristic clinical manifestation (p < 0.05). The characteristic features on maxillofacial CT included soft tissue swelling around the upper third molar and gap narrowing between the maxillary nodules and the mandibular ascending branch. Post extraction, the average mouth opening increased to 31.4 ± 4.9 mm (p < 0.05), and follow-up CT demonstrated regression of the inflammatory soft tissue around the upper third molar. CONCLUSIONS: Inflammation of soft tissue around the upper third molar is a common cause of limited mouth opening. Symptoms of pain associated with the upper third molar and distinctive findings on enhanced maxillofacial CT scans are crucial for diagnosis. Upper third molar extraction yields favorable therapeutic outcomes. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Inflammation of the soft tissue around the maxillary third molar commonly causes limited mouth opening, but this phenomenon has long been overlooked. Clarifying this etiology can reduce the number of misdiagnosed patients with restricted mouth opening and enable more efficient treatment for patients.

Psoriasis is an immune-mediated skin disease associated with neurogenic inflammation, but the underlying molecular mechanism remains unclear. We demonstrate here that acid-sensing ion channel 3 (ASIC3) exacerbates psoriatic inflammation through a sensory neurogenic pathway. Global or nociceptor-specific Asic3 knockout (KO) in female mice alleviates imiquimod-induced psoriatic acanthosis and type 17 inflammation to the same extent as nociceptor ablation. However, ASIC3 is dispensable for IL-23-induced psoriatic inflammation that bypasses the need for nociceptors. Mechanistically, ASIC3 activation induces the activity-dependent release of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) from sensory neurons to promote neurogenic inflammation. Botulinum neurotoxin A and CGRP antagonists prevent sensory neuron-mediated exacerbation of psoriatic inflammation to similar extents as Asic3 KO. In contrast, replenishing CGRP in the skin of Asic3 KO mice restores the inflammatory response. These findings establish sensory ASIC3 as a critical constituent in psoriatic inflammation, and a promising target for neurogenic inflammation management.

The quaternion cubature Kalman filter (QCKF) algorithm has emerged as a prominent nonlinear filter algorithm and has found extensive applications in the field of GNSS/SINS integrated attitude determination and positioning system (GNSS/SINS-IADPS) data processing for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). However, on one hand, the QCKF algorithm is predicated on the assumption that the random model of filter algorithm, which follows a white Gaussian noise distribution. The noise in actual GNSS/SINS-IADPS is not the white Gaussian noise but rather a ubiquitous non-Gaussian noise. On the other hand, the use of quaternions as state variables is bound by normalization constraints. When applied directly in nonlinear non-Gaussian system without considering normalization constraints, the QCKF algorithm may result in a mismatch phenomenon in the filtering random model, potentially resulting in a decline in estimation accuracy. To address this issue, we propose a novel Gaussian sum quaternion constrained cubature Kalman filter (GSQCCKF) algorithm. This algorithm refines the random model of the QCKF by approximating non-Gaussian noise with a Gaussian mixture model. Meanwhile, to account for quaternion normalization in attitude determination, a two-step projection method is employed to constrain the quaternion, which consequently enhances the filtering estimation accuracy. Simulation and experimental analyses demonstrate that the proposed GSQCCKF algorithm significantly improves accuracy and adaptability in GNSS/SINS-IADPS data processing under non-Gaussian noise conditions for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).

The study aims to construct an inertial measuring system for the application of amputee subjects wearing a prosthesis. A new computation scheme to process inertial data by installing seven wireless inertial sensors on the lower limbs was implemented and validated by comparing it with an optical motion capture system. We applied this system to amputees to verify its performance for gait analysis. The gait parameters are evaluated to objectively assess the amputees' prosthesis-wearing status. The Madgwick algorithm was used in the study to correct the angular velocity deviation using acceleration data and convert it to quaternion. Further, the zero-velocity update method was applied to reconstruct patients' walking trajectories. The combination of computed walking trajectory with pelvic and lower limb joint motion enables sketching the details of motion via a stickman that helps visualize and animate the walk and gait of a test subject. Five participants with above-knee (n = 2) and below-knee (n = 3) amputations were recruited for gait analysis. Kinematic parameters were evaluated during a walking test to assess joint alignment and overall gait characteristics. Our findings support the feasibility of employing simple algorithms to achieve accurate and precise joint angle estimation and gait parameters based on wireless inertial sensor data.

Objectives: The willingness of family members to take care of older relatives directly affects the quality of life of disabled older adults, so it is necessary to understand the status quo of willingness to care and its influencing factors. This has been extensively studied in other countries, but, it is rarely studied in China. Based on the theory of altruism, employing a unique sample from Shanghai, China in 2017 and 2022, we attempt to reveal the influencing factors of the care willingness of family caregivers during the transition period. Methods: To measure caregiver burden and functional disability of the care recipient, we employ the Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI) and the Barthel Index, respectively. Then we utilized the ordinary least squares (OLS) methodology and estimated four regression models. Models 1, 2, and 3 examined the impact of the variables of the caregiver burden, responsibility and love, and the quality of the caregiver-caregiver recipient relationship, respectively, on family caregivers' willingness to care. Model 4 was the full model. To testify whether the caregiver burden is likely to act as a mediator, path analysis was used, and the path was adjusted and verified. Results: According to the survey, in Shanghai, only half of the caregivers had a very high care willingness to care for disabled older relatives, while nearly one-tenth of the caregivers had a low willingness. It was the caregiver burden rather than the functional disability of older adults that harms family caregivers' willingness to care. Responsibility and caring out of love were positively related to care willingness. Relationship quality was the most important influencing factor, explaining 10.2% of the variance in care willingness. Path analysis demonstrated that responsibility, caring out of love, and relationship quality directly and through the mediation of caregiver burden indirectly affected care willingness. Conclusion: Our results revealed that reciprocal altruism presented by the quality of the caregiver-care recipient relationship had a significantly positive impact on family caregivers' willingness to care. In addition, the caregiver burden was found not only directly affected care willingness, but also acted as a mediator. To promote the perfection of laws and policies, comprehensive samples of different types of cities should be included and the measurement of key variables could be further improved in future studies.

BACKGROUND: Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) is placed important role in the therapy of complications of portal hypertension, there is still no suitable criterion for a reduction in portosystemic gradient (PSG), which can both reduce PSG and maximize clinical results and minimize hepatic encephalopathy (HE). AIM: To compare the clinical outcomes and incidence of HE after one-third PSG reduction during TIPS in patients with variceal bleeding and refractory ascites. METHODS: A total of 1280 patients with portal-hypertension-related complications of refractory ascites or variceal bleeding who underwent TIPS from January 2016 to January 2019 were analyzed retrospectively. Patients were divided into group A (variceal hemorrhage and PSG reduced by one third, n = 479); group B (variceal hemorrhage and PSG reduced to < 12 mmHg, n = 412); group C (refractory ascites and PSG reduced by one third, n = 217); and group D (refractory ascites and PSG reduced to < 12 mmHg of PSG, plus medication, n = 172). The clinical outcomes were analyzed. RESULTS: By the endpoint of follow-up, recurrent bleeding was no different between groups A and B (χ 2 = 7.062, P = 0.374), but recurrent ascites did differ significantly between groups C and D (χ 2 = 14.493, P = 0.006). The probability of total hepatic impairment within 3 years was significantly different between groups A and B (χ 2 = 11.352, P = 0.005) and groups C and D (χ 2 = 13.758, P = 0.002). The total incidence of HE differed significantly between groups A and B (χ 2 = 7.932, P = 0.016), groups C and D (χ 2 = 13.637, P = 0.007). There were no differences of survival rate between groups A and B (χ 2 = 3.376, P = 0.369, log-rank test), but did differ significantly between groups C and D (χ 2 = 13.582, P = 0.014, log-rank test). CONCLUSION: The PSG reduction by one third may reduce the risk of HE, hepatic function damage and achieve good clinical results.

Alcohol liver disease (ALD) is one of the leading outcomes of acute and chronic liver injury. Accumulative evidence has confirmed that oxidative stress is involved in the development of ALD. In this study, we used chick embryos to establish ALD model to study the hepatoprotective effects of tamarind shell exttract (TSE). Chick embryos received 25% ethanol (75 µL) and TSE (250, 500, 750 µg/egg/75 µL) from embryonic development day (EDD) 5.5. Both ethanol and TSE were administrated every two days until EDD15. Ethanol-exposed zebrafish and HepG2 cell model were also employed. The results suggested that TSE effectively reversed the pathological changes, liver dysfunction and ethanol-metabolic enzyme disorder in ethanol-treated chick embryo liver, zebrafish and HepG2 cells. TSE suppressed the excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) in zebrafish and HepG2 cells, as well as rebuilt the irrupted mitochondrial membrane potential. Meanwhile, the declined antioxidative activity of glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and superoxide dismutase (SOD), together with the content of total glutathione (T-GSH) were recovered by TSE. Moreover, TSE upregulated nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (NRF2) and heme oxyense-1 (HO-1) expression in protein and mRNA level. All the phenomena suggested that TSE attenuated ALD through activating NRF2 to repress the oxidative stress induced by ethanol.

The C2 sulfonylation of quinoxalinones via a metal-free oxidative S-O cross-coupling strategy for synthesizing 2-sulfonyloxylated quinoxalines is established. It effectively solved the long-standing problems in the C2 transformation of quinoxalinones via a metal-free oxidative O-S coupling strategy. Compared with the traditional C2 transformed quinoxalinones-C2 chlorination method, this protocol is mild, facile, and environmentally friendly and exhibits good atomic economy and excellent functional group tolerance. Moreover, the utility of this methodology and the sulfonyloxyl handles was demonstrated through the synthesis of 2-substituted quinoxaline-based bioactive molecules.

Objective:To analyze the clinical efficacy and prognostic factors of intracranial primary diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).Methods:Clinical data of 205 patients pathologically diagnosed with intracranial primary DLBCL at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer center from March 2001 to September 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. Among them, 101 patients were male and 104 female, the median age was 54 years old. Non-germinal center B cell (GCB) subtype accounted for 74.1%(126/170). A total of 177 patients received high-dose methotrexate (HD-MTX) and 91 patients received rituximab. After induction chemotherapy, 59 patients (30.4%) achieved complete response (CR), 112 patients (57.7%) achieved partial response (PR) or stable disease (SD). A total of 83 patients received consolidation or salvage radiotherapy, and only 14 patients received autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT). The influence of pathological type, chemotherapy, rituximab treatment, radiotherapy and radiotherapy mode, ASCT and other factors on the overall survival (OS) and progression free survival (PFS) was evaluated. The survival rate was calculated by Kaplan-Meier method. Univariate prognostic analysis was performed by log-rank test. Multivariate prognostic analysis was conducted by COX model.Results:The median follow-up time was 34 months. The 5-year OS and PFS rates were 55.6% and 44.2%, respectively. GCB subtype, chemotherapy with HD-MTX, rituximab treatment, remission status after induction chemotherapy, and radiotherapy were favorable prognostic factors for OS or PFS, in which the last three were the independent prognostic factors. Consolidation radiotherapy in patients who obtained CR after induction chemotherapy did not significantly improve survival, while salvage radiotherapy in patients who achieved PR/SD after induction chemotherapy significantly improved both OS and PFS(both P<0.01). Consolidation radiotherapy showed no significant survival difference compared with consolidation ASCT. Conclusions:The non-GCB subtype of intracranial primary DLBCL is related to poor prognosis. The addition of rituximab to HD-MTX based induction chemotherapy can improve survival. Radiotherapy is still an important treatment for intracranial primary DLBCL, and there are limitations of ASCT in practical clinical application.

BACKGROUND: Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare disease of unknown etiology. LCH involving the thymus is mainly seen in pediatric patients and is extremely rare in adults. In this report, we describe a rare case of LCH originating from the thymus in an adult. CASE SUMMARY: A 56-year-old man was admitted in April 2022 with complaints of intermittent dizziness since 2020, which had worsened in the previous 10 d. The physical chest examination was negative, and there was a history of hypertension for > 2 years. Chest computed tomography showed a nodular soft tissue density shadow in the anterior mediastinum measuring approximately 13 mm × 9 mm × 8 mm. Postoperative pathological findings confirmed the diagnosis of LCH. CONCLUSION: It is challenging to differentiate LCH involving the thymus from thymoma in imaging features. Pathological biopsy remains the gold standard when an anterior mediastinal occupying lesion is found.

BACKGROUND: The Rome IV criteria eliminated abdominal discomfort for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), which was previously included in Rome III. There are questions as to whether IBS patients with abdominal discomfort (seen in Rome III but not Rome IV) are different from those with abdominal pain (Rome IV). AIM: To compare bowel symptoms and psychosocial features in IBS patients diagnosed with Rome III criteria with abdominal discomfort, abdominal pain, and pain & discomfort. METHODS: We studied IBS patients meeting Rome III criteria. We administered the IBS symptom questionnaire, psychological status, and IBS quality of life. Patients were classified according to the predominant abdominal symptom associated with defecation into an only pain group, only discomfort group, and pain & discomfort group. We compared bowel symptoms, extraintestinal symptoms, IBS quality of life, psychological status and healthcare-seeking behaviors, and efficacy among the three groups. Finally, we tested risk factors for symptom reporting in IBS patients. RESULTS: Of the 367 Rome III IBS patients enrolled, 33.8% (124 cases) failed to meet Rome IV criteria for an IBS diagnosis. There were no meaningful differences between the pain group (n = 233) and the discomfort group (n = 83) for the following: (1) Frequency of defecatory abdominal pain or discomfort; (2) Bowel habits; (3) Coexisting extragastrointestinal pain; (4) Comorbid anxiety and depression; and (5) IBS quality of life scores except more patients in the discomfort group reported mild symptom than the pain group (22.9% vs 9.0%). There is a significant tendency for patients to report their defecatory and non-defecatory abdominal symptom as pain alone, or discomfort alone, or pain & discomfort (all P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: IBS patients with abdominal discomfort have similar bowel symptoms and psychosocial features to those with abdominal pain. IBS symptoms manifesting abdominal pain or discomfort may primarily be due to different sensation and reporting experience.

Neural tube defect (NTD) is the most common and severe embryopathy causing embryonic malformation and even death associated with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Leu-Pro-Phe (LPF) is an antioxidative tripeptide isolated from hydrolysates of corn protein. However, the biological activity of LPF in vivo and in vitro remains unclear. This study is aimed at investigating the protective effects of tripeptide LPF against NTD in the high glucose exposure condition and delineate the underlying biological mechanism. We found that LPF alleviated NTD in the high glucose-exposed chicken embryo model. In addition, DF-1 chicken embryo fibroblast was loaded with high glucose for induction of oxidative stress and abnormal O-GlcNAcylation in vitro. LPF significantly decreased accumulation of reactive oxygen species and content of malondialdehyde in DF-1 cells but increased the ratio of reduced glutathione and oxidized glutathione in chick embryo. Oxygen radical absorbance capacity results showed that LPF itself had good free radical scavenging capacity and could enhance antioxidant activity of the cell content. Mechanistic studies suggested that the resistance of LPF to oxidative damage may be related to promotion of NRF2 expression and nuclear translocation. LPF alleviated the overall O-GlcNAcylation level of cellular proteins under high glucose conditions and restored the level of Pax3 protein. Collectively, our findings indicate that LPF peptide could act as a nutritional supplement for the protection of development of embryonic neural tube affected by GDM.

BACKGROUND: Population aging has caused a rise in the institutionalization, disability, and mortality rates of older adults worldwide. Older adults are able to engage in muscle training. Elastic band exercises can safely and effectively improve the upper and lower muscle strength and balance of older adults. PURPOSE: This study was developed to examine the effects of a 3-month elastic band exercise program on the activities of daily living (ADLs), hand muscle strength, balance, and lower limb muscle strength of older adults living in institutional settings. METHODS: This was a randomized controlled trial. Sixty-one participants were randomly sampled from two long-term care facilities (LTCFs) in northern Taiwan (31 participants in the experimental group and 30 participants in the control group). Both groups underwent pretesting concurrently. The experimental group participated in 3 months of elastic band exercises, whereas the control group participated in the routine exercise program in their LTCFs. All of the participants were tested 1 and 3 months after the intervention. RESULTS: The average ADL, hand muscle strength, balance, and lower limb muscle strength scores of participants in the experimental group had improved significantly more than those of the control group at posttest (all p s < .05). CONCLUSIONS/IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: Elastic band exercises positively affect ADLs, hand muscle strength, balance, and lower limb muscle strength in older adults living in LTCFs. Moreover, the high benefit-to-cost ratio of these exercises helps lower the threshold of health promotion. We recommend including elastic band exercises in routine activities and designing different elastic band exercises for older adults at different proficiency levels. Furthermore, an elastic band exercise network should be established to improve the policy and implementation aspects of elastic band activities, raise awareness among community-dwelling and institutionalized older adults, and promote elastic band exercises to LTCFs nationwide.

Excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation is involved in the pathogenesis of liver fibrosis and damage, specifically in the developing embryo that is extremely sensitive to oxidative stress. Herein, a liver injury model in chick embryo was established by using 2,2-azobis (2-amidinopropane) dihydrochloride (AAPH), which was used to investigate the effect of cyclo(-Phe-Phe) (CPP), a natural dipeptide found in foods and beverages. The results showed that CPP significantly alleviated AAPH-induced liver pathological damage, hepatic dysfunction and inhibited the excessive production of ROS in both chick embryo liver and HepG2 cells. Additionally, CPP increased the antioxidative activity of glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and superoxide dismutase (SOD), as well as elevated the level of glutathione (GSH), suggesting that CPP combating liver injury probably depends on its antioxidant capability. Mechanistically, CPP upregulated the mRNA and protein expression of heme oxyense-1 (HO-1) and NADPH quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) in vivo and in vitro, along with promoting the translocation of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) while inhibiting its degradation through binding with Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (Keap1). In conclusion, this study proposes a potential peptide drug for the treatment of hepatic damage induced by oxidative stress and also unravels its mechanism of action.

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to investigate the association of metabolic phenotypes that are jointly determined by body mass index (BMI) or fat mass percentage and metabolic health status with the ten-year risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) among Chinese adults. METHODS: Data were obtained from a cross-sectional study. BMI and body fat mass percentage (FMP) combined with the metabolic status were used to define metabolic phenotypes. Multiple linear regression and logistic regression were used to examine the effects of metabolic phenotypes on CVD risk. RESULTS: A total of 13,239 adults aged 34-75 years were included in this study. Compared with the metabolically healthy non-obese (MHNO) phenotype, the metabolically unhealthy non-obese (MUNO) and metabolically unhealthy obese (MUO) phenotypes defined by BMI showed a higher CVD risk [odds ratio, OR (95% confidence interval, CI): 2.34 (1.89-2.89), 3.45 (2.50-4.75), respectively], after adjusting for the covariates. The MUNO and MUO phenotypes defined by FMP showed a higher CVD risk [ OR (95% CI): 2.31 (1.85-2.88), 2.63 (1.98-3.48), respectively] than the MHNO phenotype. The metabolically healthy obese phenotype, regardless of being defined by BMI or FMP, showed no CVD risk compared with the MHNO phenotype. CONCLUSION: General obesity without central obesity does not increase CVD risk in metabolically healthy individuals. FMP might be a more meaningful factor for the evaluation of the association of obesity with CVD risk. Obesity and metabolic status have a synergistic effect on CVD risk.

RESUMO

Two new phenylpropanoid glycosidic compounds (a pair of epimers), named pleionosides K (1) and L (2), were isolated from the pseudobulbs of Pleione bulbocodioides (Franch.) Rolfe. Their structures, including absolute configurations, were elucidated by a combination of MS, NMR data, chemical methods and the comparison of experimental and calculated electronic circular dichroism (ECD). Their possible biosynthetic pathway was discussed in the text. Furthermore, the two compounds exhibited moderate hepatoprotective activity against N-acetyl-p-aminophenol (APAP)-induced HepG2 cell damage in in vitro assays, with cell survival rates of 25.83% and 28.82% at 10 µM, respectively, and antioxidant effect against H2O2-induced toxicity in human SK-N-SH cell, with increasing viability at 10 µM of 24.9% and 34.6%, respectively.

Objective:To investigate the association of plasma EBV-DNA copy number, serum cytokines and B symptoms in patients with extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKTL), unravel the mechanism and assess the prognostic value of clinical indicators.Methods:Clinical data of 173 newly-diagnosed ENKTL patients (116 male, 57 female; median age: 43, 4 to 71 years)were retrospectively analyzed. According to Ann Arbor stage, 126 cases were classified as stage I-II and 47 cases of stage Ⅲ-IV. The primary sites of tumors included nasal cavity (n=100), extranasal upper aerodigestive tract (extranasal UADT, n=34), and extra-upper aerodigestive tract (extra-UADT, n=39). Prior to treatment, 91 patients had B symptoms and 82 cases of without B symptoms. According to plasma EBV-DNA copy levels, all patients were divided into the negative group (n=36), low load group (<10 4 copies/ml, n=73) and high load group (≥10 4 copies/ml, n=64). Serum cytokines including IFN-γ, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10 and TNF-α were detected. Correlation analysis was performed by Cochran-Armitage trend test and Spearman correlation analysis. Survival analysis was conducted using univariate and multivariate Cox regression hazard analysis and survival curves were derived from Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. Results:The incidence of B symptoms and fever showed a significant upward trend with the increasing plasma EBV-DNA copy levels. In addition, serum levels of IFN-γ, IL-6 and IL-10 cytokines were higher in patients with B symptoms than those without B symptoms (all P<0.05). Serum IFN-γ, IL-6, and IL-10 levels were also positively correlated with plasma EBV-DNA copy number. The occurrence of B symptoms was associated with high-risk clinical features including advanced stage, primary tumor invasion, regional lymph node involvement, and elevated pre-treatment LDH. Survival analysis showed that stage, B symptoms, plasma EBV-DNA, and the above serum cytokines affected the prognosis of overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) (all P<0.05). However, multivariate analysis showed that the occurrence of B symptoms was not an independent prognostic factor of ENKTL patients. Conclusion:This exploratory study suggests that the incidence of B symptoms is associated with increasing levels of EBV-DNA copies and cytokines, and these indicators are also important factors influencing the prognosis of ENKTL patients.

To explore root architecture and its effects on soil reinforcement of main tree species in typical black soil region, we measured root spatial distribution characteristics, root fractal characte-ristics, and geometric morphological characteristics of Amygdalus triloba, Caragana microphylla, Betula platyphylla, Acer negundo, Picea koraiensis, Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica, using whole root excavation method and WinRHIZO Pro LA2004 root analysis system. All the examined species are distributed widely in typical black soil region. The vertical uprooting force was determined by in-situ uprooting tests. The results showed that inclined roots were dominant in A. triloba, horizontal roots were dominant in C. microphylla, B. platyphylla, A. negundo and P. koraiensis, and the horizontal and vertical distribution of roots were commensurable in P. sylvestris var. mongolica. Except for the total root surface area of B. platyphylla and the total root length of P. koraiensis, the total root length and root surface area of shrub species were significantly greater than those of arbor species, while deciduous broad-leaved trees were significantly larger than coniferous evergreen trees. The total root volume of B. platyphylla was significantly larger than that of C. microphylla, A. negundo, P. koraiensis and P. sylvestris var. mongolica. The root fractal dimension and abundance of A. triloba, C. microphylla, B. platyphylla were significantly higher than those of P. koraiensis and P. sylvestris var. mongolica. The average maximum uprooting force of A. triloba, C. microphylla, and A. negundo was significantly higher than that of B. platyphylla, P. koraiensis, and P. sylvestris var. mongolica. Due to the role of total root length, total root surface area and the number of inclined roots, root system of A. triloba, C. microphylla and A. negundo showed strong soil reinforcement capacity. A. triloba, C. microphylla and A. negundo could be used as the option-preferred tree species when constructing soil and water conservation vegetation in typical black soil region.

Nine new glucosyloxybenzyl 2-hydroxy-2-isobutylsuccinates, pleionosides M-U (1-9), and 12 known compounds (10-21) were isolated from the pseudobulbs of Pleione yunnanensis. Their structures and absolute configurations were established through a combination of HRESIMS and NMR data and supported by physical and chemical methods. Compounds 5, 6, 10, and 15 showed significant in vitro hepatoprotective activity against d-galactosamine (d-GalN)-induced toxicity in HL-7702 cells with increasing cell viability by 27%, 22%, 19%, and 31% compared to the model group (cf. bicyclol, 14%) at 10 µM, respectively. Compounds 4, 9, and 11 exhibited moderate hepatoprotective activity against N-acetyl-p-aminophenol (APAP)-induced toxicity in HepG2 cells with increasing cell viability by 9%, 16%, and 12% compared to the model group (cf. bicyclol, 9%) at 10 µM, respectively.
