[Treatment of severe digitoxin poisoning with digitalis antibodies]. / Behandlung einer schweren Digitoxinintoxikation mit Digitalis-Antikörpern.

In a 59-year-old patient who for suicide had taken 75 tablets of digitoxin the symptoms of a severe digitalis intoxication developed. By application of the digitalis antidote BM the life-threatening condition could quickly be mastered. Because of the distinct hyperkalaemia additionally an initial haemodialysis treatment was carried out.

[Acute hemopericardium--a rare intraoperative complication of cardiac pacemaker therapy]. / Das akute Hämoperikard--eine seltene intraoperative Komplikation der Herzschrittmachertherapie.

During the observation period from 1977 to 1985 in altogether 1,520 cardiac pacemaker operations 7 perforations of the myocardium with haemodynamic effect on the cardiac function were treated. In the light of the own experiences of the operative surroundings and the results the pericardiotomy is regarded as method of choice. If in the implantation of a cardiac pacemaker an acute deterioration of the general condition of the patient develops, one should at first think of the possibility of the tamponade of the pericardium. Only by active approach (pericardiotomy or puncture) the patient's life can be preserved.

[Acute respiratory distress syndrome of the adult]. / Akutes Atemnotsyndrom des Erwachsenen.

In a 43-year-old female patient after a bland influenzal infection suddenly an acute life-threatening picture of a disease with severe dyspnoea developed. Radiologically a distinct interstitial oedema was to be seen. According to the clinical and paraclinical data the case in question was the benign for of an acute dyspnoea syndrome of the adult. Etiology and therapy of the acute dyspnoea syndrome are shown. This picture of a disease should be included into the differential-diagnostic consideration in acute conditions of dyspnoea.
