RESUMO

The article deals with surfactants capable of forming an aerodispersive system, foam, under specific conditions as described below. Characteristics of surfactants usable as foaming agents are specified. Attention is paid to detergency and detergent effects of foams, wetting process, dispersion formation, stabilization of foams and stabilizers. Rheological properties of foams, more precisely volume increase and stability, are described. Methods for disinfection efficacy testing of foaming agents are presented. Advantages and disadvantages of using foams for disinfection are summarized: it is concluded that the use of foams in disinfection is universally advantageous and means a great advance in disinfection technology.

RESUMO

Antimicrobial efficacy of modern antiseptics-iodophores based on the iodine-polyvinylpyrrolidone complex using standard suspension tests and their modifications and screening methods with bacteriophage phi X 174 was studied. The study was completed with molecular modelling of structural and spatial distribution of these substances with the help of computer programme HyperChem 2.0. Using calculation methods of quantum and molecular mechanics the conditions and results of the antimicrobial efficacy of these antiseptics were described.

RESUMO

The paper deals with the influence of long-chain fatty acids on the formation of insoluble elastin in vivo. Oil isolated from the sea fish named flounder has been chosen as the source of those long-chain fatty acids. The diet containing the flounder oil was administered to pregnant rat females. The influence of fatty acids on the formation of insoluble elastin was evaluated according to the percentage changes of insoluble elastin in the aortas of newborn rats and to the changes of the amount of desmosine cross-links in isolated elastin. The administration of the diet with long-chain fatty acids causes no changes in the content of elastin in the aortas of the new-born rats, meanwhile the amount of desmosine increases considerably. The results on the aortas of new-born rats shown here are in good agreement with the changes on the aortas of 3-month-old rats published in a previous paper.
