RESUMO

Pathogen avoidance is a crucial and evolutionarily conserved behavior that enhances survival by preventing infection in diverse species, including Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans). This behavior relies on multiple chemosensory neurons equipped with cilia that are exposed to the external environment. However, the specific role of neuronal cilia in pathogen avoidance has not been completely elucidated. Herein, we discovered that osm-3(p802) mutants, which lack chemosensory neuronal cilia, exhibit slower avoidance of the pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa PA14, but not Escherichia coli OP50. This observation was consistent when osm-3(p802) mutants were exposed to P. aeruginosa PAO1. Following an encounter with PA14, the pumping, thrashing, and defecation behaviors of osm-3 mutants were comparable to those of the wild-type. However, the osm-3 mutants demonstrated reduced intestinal colonization of PA14, suggesting that they have stronger intestinal clearance ability. We conducted RNA-seq to identify genes responding to external stimuli that were differentially expressed owing to the loss of osm-3 and PA14 infection. Using RNAi, we demonstrated that three of these genes were essential for normal pathogen avoidance. In conclusion, our findings demonstrate that the loss of chemosensory neuronal cilia reduces pathogen avoidance in C. elegans while delaying intestinal colonization.

RESUMO

Light field (LF) image depth estimation is a critical technique for LF-related applications such as 3D reconstruction, target detection, and tracking. The refocusing property of LF images provide rich information for depth estimations; however, it is still challenging in cases of occlusion regions, edge regions, noise interference, etc. The epipolar plane image (EPI) of LF can effectively deal with the depth estimation because of its characteristics of multidirectionality and pixel consistency-in which the LF depth estimations are converted to calculate the EPI slope. This paper proposed an EPI LF depth estimation algorithm based on a directional relationship model and attention mechanism. Unlike the subaperture LF depth estimation method, the proposed method takes EPIs as input images. Specifically, a directional relationship model was used to extract direction features of the horizontal and vertical EPIs, respectively. Then, a multiviewpoint attention mechanism combining channel attention and spatial attention is used to give more weight to the EPI slope information. Subsequently, multiple residual modules are used to eliminate the redundant features that interfere with the EPI slope information-in which a small stride convolution operation is used to avoid losing key EPI slope information. The experimental results revealed that the proposed algorithm outperformed the compared algorithms in terms of accuracy.

RESUMO

Transition metal dichalcogenides have been the most attractive two-dimensional layered materials for electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution due to their unique structure and multi-phase electronic states. However, the enhancement of the WSe2 electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) performance by bimetal co-doping has been rarely reported. Herein, the NiMo-WSe2 catalyst has been synthesized by a one-step hydrothermal reaction, with lower overpotentials of 177 and 188 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm-2 in 0.5 M H2SO4 and 1 M KOH, respectively. The large specific surface area and thinner edge morphology provide more active sites for hydrogen production, thereby significantly improving the charge transfer kinetics. Density functional theory calculation results show that under acidic conditions the ΔGH* values of NiMo-WSe2 with different structures and hydrogen adsorption sites are also different, when the hydrogen adsorption site was located at the top of the Se-Ni bond, the meta NiMo-WSe2 has a ΔGH* value (-0.04 eV) that is closest to 0. Meanwhile, NiMo-WSe2 (meta) also has a minimum of ΔGH* under alkaline conditions. DOS confirmed that Ni doping has a large impact on the electronic states at the WSe2 Fermi level, while NiMo co-doping greatly reduces the potential energy barrier of the HER reaction, jointly increasing the current density, and thus improving the HER performance.

RESUMO

As one of the knee preservation surgical approaches, good clinical outcomes of high tibial osteotomy were reported. Aims of this study were to analyze the clinical outcome and pre- and postoperative radiographical parameter and knee functional score between distal tibial tubercle high tibial osteotomy (DTTHTO) and open wedge- high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO) in patients with varus knee osteoarthritis after more than 1 year following-up. A total of 194 consecutive patients in our joint center from March 2016 to October 2021 were enrolled, according to the surgical method, patients were divided into DDTHTO and OWHTO groups. Radiographic parameters of Kellgren-Lawrence grading, hip-knee-ankle angle, weight bearing line ratio and medial tibial plateau angle, knee functional score of American knee society (AKS) score, western Ontario and McMaster universities arthritis index (WOMAC) score, visual analogue score (VAS) were introduced to evaluate clinical outcome for patients who received DDTHTO and OWHTO. There were 103 knees and 89 knees in the OWHTO and DTTHTO group, respectively. Mean weight bearing line ratio for OWHTO and DTTHTO were 25.1 ±â€…11.7 and 25.2 ±â€…12.0% respectively, medial tibial plateau angle and hip-knee-ankle angle angle demonstrated that all patients in the present study inherited a varus angle ranges from 3.4° to 9.5°. Preoperative AKS, WOMAC and VAS were 68.4 ±â€…5.7 versus 69.0 ±â€…5.9, 109.3 ±â€…15.0 versus 107.7 ±â€…14.0 and 6.8 ±â€…1.0 versus 6.9 ±â€…0.8, and there was no significant difference between 2 groups (P > .05). Mean postoperative AKS and WOMAC score for patients in both OWHTO and DTTHTO group were significantly improved, moreover, postoperative VAS of DTTHTO patients was lower than that in OWHTO group (P < .05). When comparing the operation time, intraoperative blood loss and bone union time, DHHTO group shows a superiority in these variables over patients in OWHTO (121 ±â€…29.6 vs 145.7 ±â€…35.2 minutes, 115.0 ±â€…20.8 vs 103.3 ±â€…17.3 mL, 13.7 ±â€…4.1 vs 12.0 ±â€…2.8 weeks; P < .005) and incidence of complication was lower for DTTHTO group. DTTHTO in patients with varus knee osteoarthritis has good clinical outcomes, and it can achieve a better postoperative alignment. Operation time and surgical trauma were also less in patients who underwent DTTHTO.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Cervical cancer is the second largest tumor disease threatening female reproductive tract health. AS2O3 is a multi-directional and multi-target anti-cervical cancer drug. It can be combined with platinum drugs to treat cervical cancer. The literatures of AS2O3 combined with platinum drugs related to cervical cancer have shown inconsistent results, and there is currently no high quality of systematic review to evaluate the effects of AS2O3 combined with platinum drugs in cervical cancer patients. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: English and Chinese literature about AS2O3 combined with platinum drugs treatment for cervical cancer published before August 31, 2020 will be systematic searched in PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Open Grey, Clinicaltrials.gov, Chinese Clinical Trial Registry, WANFANG, VIP Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database, CNKI, Chinese biomedical document service system (SinoMed). Only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of patients with cervical cancer will be included. Literature screening, data extraction, and the assessment of risk of bias will be independently conducted by 2 reviewers, and the 3rd reviewer will be consulted if any different opinions existed. Clinical total effective rate, adverse events, SCCAg, CYFRA21-1, quality of life, and immune function will be evaluated. Systematic review and meta-analysis will be produced by RevMan 5.3 and Stata 14.0. This protocol reported in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis Protocols (PRISMA-P) statement, and we will report the systematic review by following the PRISMA statement. RESUMO

The aim of this study is to introduce a self-designed, minimally invasive technique for repairing an acute Achilles tendon rupture percutaneously. Comparing with the traditional open repair, the new technique provides obvious advantages of minimized operation-related lesions, fewer wound complications as well as a higher healing rate. However, a percutaneous technique without direct vision may be criticized by its insufficient anastomosis of Achilles tendon and may also lead to the lengthening of the Achilles tendon and a reduction in the strength of the gastrocnemius. To address the potential problems, we have improved our technique using a percutaneous Kirschner wire leverage process before suturing, which can effectively recover the length of the Achilles tendon and ensure the broken ends are in tight contact. With this improvement in technique, we have great confidence that it will become the treatment of choice for acute Achilles tendon ruptures.
