RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The Internet of Things is a revolution in health care both in the field of patient treatment and health information management. This technology can improve the status of patients, providing them with healthcare, collecting, sharing, storing and analyzing their medical information. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: Since the use of the IOT will create a wonderful future in the field of electronic health and the telecommunications industry, hospitals, health centers and policymakers in the health sector in the country should not neglect to get advantage of this technology. Therefore, this study aims to collect the necessary indicators for entering this technology and also measuring its preparation to use it. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a practical research and in terms of information gathering, a descriptive survey type that describes and evaluates the preparation of IOT technology implementation in hospitals affiliated to Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. In order to measure the preparation for implementation of such technology in the treatment centers, a model based on the opinion of the experts in this area should be designed. According to which the model of this assessment in 5 different sections in the treatment centers that require this technology are also significant and Effective changes will be reviewed to assess their preparation. RESULT: According to the standard coefficients obtained as a result of reviewing the opinions of the experts in this field, the most effective factor is "training of specialist staff in the university" and the least effective factor is "purchasing technical knowledge from universities and affiliated centers". CONCLUSION: The results show that current hospitals are not prepared to move to this area and the universities should be able to enter the field quickly.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Simultaneously along with information technology progress, knowledge has considered as a fundamental base for economic growth for the time being. In today's knowledge-based economy, production and exploitation of knowledge play the main roles in the process of wealth creation. The current revolution in information technology has given new light to the importance of knowledge such that it has now become the base of economy in today's world. In today's knowledge-based economy, production and exploitation of knowledge play the main roles in the process of wealth creation. Considering key contributions of knowledge management in competitiveness of organizations and their entry into global arenas, this study sought to evaluate the impact of different aspects of intellectual property on innovations in computer and health information system (HIS) units at selected medical center in the city of Isfahan during 2015. OBJECTIVES: The present study seeks to evaluate the impact of different aspects of intellectual property on innovations in computer and HIS units at selected medical centers in the city of Isfahan during 2015 (2015). SETTINGS AND DESIGN: Population of this research includes staff working in computer and HIS units of 10 medical centers. Data were collected using a questionnaire made by the researcher. A written questionnaire (also referred to as self-administered questionnaire) is a data collection tool in which written questions are presented that are to be answered by study individuals, where for the case of the present study include staff members working at computer and HIS units of 10 medical centers. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In the first stage, medical factors were determined by experts of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences as intellectual property. Factors were then distributed randomly among 100 employees during a survey, after considering their validity and reliability. STATISTICAL ANALYSIS: Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for data analysis. RESULTS: Data analysis showed that innovation is one of the most important indicators of intellectual capital in computer and HIS units of medical centers and has a higher than average importance. CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study, in addition to providing guidelines in the management of intellectual capital in Isfahan province hospitals, can be used as a model for improving innovation in hospitals and understanding various factors affecting organizational innovation.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The main objective of creating a portal is to make information service available for users who need them for performance of duties and responsibilities regardless of the sources. This article is attempted to consider the parameters that can evaluate these sites since these criteria can be effective in designing and implementing such portals. On the other hand, portal sites in health systems of every country make it possible for leaders, policy makers, and directors to system education as a tool for new learning technologies. One of the main decisions each manager has to make is precise selection of appropriate portal sites. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a descriptive and qualitative study. The research sample was 53 computer professional working in the area of computer programming and design. In the first part of the study a questionnaire was send to the participants and in the second part of the study based on their response to the questionnaire the participant was interviewed and the main themes of the studies were formulated. The validity and the reliability of the questionnaire were confirmed. RESULTS: The study results were summarized in 10 themes and 50 sub-categories. The main themes included were portal requirements, security, management, and efficiency, user friendliness, built-in applications, portal flexibility, interoperability, and support systems. CONCLUSION: Portal sites in any education systems make it possible for health system leaders and policy makers to manage their organization information system efficiently and effectively. One of the major decisions each manager has to make is precise selection of an appropriate portal sites design and development. The themes and sub-categories of this study could help health system managers and policy makers and information technology professionals to make appropriate decisions regarding portal design and development.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Silymarin derived from silybum marianum (milk thistle), a flowering member of the daisy family, may benefit liver function in people infected with the hepatitis C virus. The aims of this pilot study were to assess the efficacy and safety of silymarin on serum hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA, serum aminotransferases (ALT, AST) levels, liver fibrosis and well-being in patients with chronic hepatitis C (CHC). METHODS: This prospective self-controlled trial study was conducted from March to September 2006 at Department of Gastroenterology, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Isfahan, Iran. 55 patients with HCV (10 female and 45 male) with a mean age of 31.8 ± 6.4 years (10-67 years) were participated in the study. Patients received 24 weeks of silymarin (630 mg/day). Baseline virological biochemical, liver fibrosis (by a serum fibrosis markers, including YKL-40 and Hyaluronic acid), and SF-36 questionnaire were performed with biochemical tests repeated at the end of the treatment period. RESULTS: There was statistically difference in mean of ALT (108.7 ± 86.6 vs 70.3 ± 57.7) before and after the treatment (p < 0.001). The means of AST were 99.4 ± 139.7 and 59.7 ± 64.32 before and after the treatment with statistically differences (p = 0.004). After the treatment, nine patients were found with negative HCV-RNA (p = 0.004) and statistically significant improvement in results of liver fibrosis markers were found only in fibrosis group (p = 0.015). Quality of life was improved significantly (p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: This study indicated that in patients with CHC performing silymarin (650 mg/day) for 6 months, improved serum HCV-RNA titer, serum aminotransferases (ALT, AST), hepatic fibrosis and patient's quality of life. More future studies are warranted.
