RESUMO

Enshi Yulu green tea (ESYL) is the most representative traditional steamed green tea in Enshi, Hubei. Different ESYL grades exhibit distinct flavors, tastes, and prices. In this study, a visual sensor based on 4-MPBA Au@AgNPs was developed for the rapid and accurate identification of ESYL grades. The recognition mechanism involved the binding of 4-MPBA Au@AgNPs with polyphenolic compounds in ESYL to form borate esters and the conversion of Ag+ to Ag0, with the generated Ag0 depositing on the surface of 4-MPBA Au@AgNPs. The results showed that the sensor can amplify the color differences of different grades of ESYL. The visual results were also validated by the partial least squares discriminant analysis model, demonstrating an enhancement in recognition accuracy from 68.2 % to 95.5 % compared to the original extraction solution. The colorimetric sensor developed in this study is expected to provide a new approach for traceability research of other foods.

RESUMO

In order to solve the problem of uneven microporous structure of Poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) bulk orientation by using biological safety multi-functional plant oil as chain extenders (CE), multi-armed flexible chains were introduced into PLLA through reactive processing to prepare long chain branched PLLA (LCB-PLLA). When the total content of the CE was 6.15 wt%, PLLA and the CE reacted most fully, while maintaining the tensile strength of PLLA and improving toughness. After introducing the LCB structure, the presence of multi-armed flexible chains increased the mobility of the molecular chains, resulting in a significantly lower degree of crystallinity. When the draw ratio up to 900 %, the crystallinity of LCB-PLLA-F-900 % was only 45.15 %, lower than that of PLLA-F-900 %. Thanks to the mobility of polymer chains can be enhanced, which reduces the degree of crystallinity while promoting the uniform growth of oriented microporous structures. Finally, an oriented micro-porous biomimetic LCB-PLLA material with an average cell diameter of 540 nm was prepared, and the results of in vitro cell culture showed that the oriented micro-porous LCB-PLLA biomimetic material was more conducive to cell proliferation.

RESUMO

In this work, a rapid and accurate strategy for classification of Chinese traditional cereal vinegars (CTCV) and antioxidant property predication was proposed by using the combination fluorescence spectroscopy and machine learning. Three characteristic fluorescent components were extracted by parallel factor analysis (PARAFAC), which have correlations greater than 0.8 with antioxidant activity of CTCV obtained by Pearson correlation analysis. Machine learning methods, including linear discriminant analysis (LDA), partial least squares-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) and N-way partial least squares discriminant analysis (N-PLS-DA), were used for the classification of different types of CTCV, and the correct classification rates was higher than 97%. The antioxidant property of CTCV were further quantified by using optimized variable-weighted least-squares support vector machine based on particle swarm optimization (PSO-VWLS-SVM). The proposed strategy provides a basis for further research on antioxidant active ingredients and antioxidant mechanisms of CTCV, and enable the continued exploration and application of CTCV from different types.

RESUMO

Copper (Cu2+), as a heavy metal, accumulates in the human body to a certain extent, which can induce various diseases and endanger human health. Rapid and sensitive detection of Cu2+ is highly desired. In present work, a glutathione modified quantum dot (GSH-CdTe QDs) was synthesized and applied in a "turn-off" fluorescence probe to detect Cu2+. The fluorescence of GSH-CdTe QDs could be rapidly quenched in the presence of Cu2+ through aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ), resulting from the interaction between the surface functional groups of GSH-CdTe QDs and Cu2+ and the electrostatic attraction. In the range of 20-1100 nM, the Cu2+ concentration showed a good linear relationship with the fluorescence decline of the sensor, and the LOD is 10.12 nM, which was lower than the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defined limit (20 µM). Moreover, aiming to attain visual analysis, colorimetric method was also used for rapidly detecting Cu2+ by capturing the change in fluorescence color. Interestingly, the proposed approach has successfully been applied for the detection of Cu2+ in real samples (i.e., environment water, food and traditional Chinese medicine) with satisfactory results, which provides a promising strategy for the detection of Cu2+ in practical application with the merits of being rapid, simple and sensitive.

RESUMO

Circular RNAs have been reported to be widely involved in cancer cell tumorigenesis and drug resistance; here, the aim of this study was to investigate whether circRNA Integrin Subunit Alpha 7 (ITGA7) (circ_ITGA7) was associated with the tumor growth and radiosensitivity of colorectal cancer (CRC). We found that circ_ITGA7 expression was lower in CRC tissues and cells than those in the normal tissues and cell lines according to quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. As shown by cell counting kit-8 assay, flow cytometry, colony formation assay, and xenograft experiment, ectopic overexpression of circ_ITGA7 remarkably restrained CRC tumor growth and enhanced radiosensitivity in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, circ_ITGA7 could target microRNA (miR)-766 to prevent the degradation of its target gene mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 4 (SMAD4), the binding between miR-766 and circ_ITGA7 or SMAD4 was first verified by dual-luciferase activity assay. Additionally, miR-766 up-regulation reversed the inhibitory effects of circ_ITGA7 on CRC growth and radiosensitivity. Besides that, inhibition of miR-766 reduced CRC cell growth and sensitized cells to radiotherapy, and these effects mediated by miR-766 inhibitor were rescued by the silencing of SMAD4. In all, circ_ITGA7 suppressed CRC growth and enhanced radiosensitivity by up-regulating SMAD4 through sequestering miR-766, providing an insight for the further development of CRC treatment.

RESUMO

Poly(l-lactic acid) (PLLA) displays simultaneous repair and regeneration properties. Therefore, it is vital for developing bone repair materials while improving their mechanical strength, and biocompatibility is essential for guaranteeing its application. In this manuscript, using solid hot drawing (SHD) technology to fabricate an oriented shish-kebab like structure, furthermore, the interface-oriented grain boundary controlled the nucleation site and cell morphology during low temperature supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) foaming process, resulted in an oriented microcellular structure which was similar to load-bearing bone. The tensile strength, elastic modulus, and elongation at break of the oriented microcellular PLLA were 98.4 MPa, 3.3 GPa, and 16.4%, respectively. Furthermore, the biomimetic structure improved osteoblast cells (MC3T3) attachment, proliferation, and propagation. These findings may pave the way for designing novel biomaterials for bone fixation or tissue engineering devices.

RESUMO

Eucommia ulmoides is an important and valuable traditional Chinese medicine with various medical functions, and has been widely used as health food in China, Japan, South Korea and other Asian countries for many years. The efficacy and quality of E. ulmoides are closely associated with the geographical origin. In this work, the potential of excitation-emission matrix (EEMs) fluorescence coupled with chemometric methods was investigated for simple, rapid and accurate for identification E. ulmoides from different geographical origins. Parallel factor analysis (PARAFAC) was applied for characterizing the fluorescence fingerprints of E. ulmoides samples. Moreover, k-nearest neighbor (kNN), principal component analysis-linear discriminant analysis (PCA-LDA) and partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) models were used for the classification of E. ulmoides samples according to their geographical origins. The results showed that kNN model was more suitable for identification of E. ulmoides samples from different provinces. The kNN model could identify E. ulmoides samples from eight different geographical origins with 100% accuracy on the training and test sets. Therefore, the proposed method was available for conveniently and accurately determining the geographical origin of E. ulmoides, which can expect to be an attractive alternative method for identifying the geographic origin of other traditional Chinese medicines.

RESUMO

Near-infrared spectroscopy technique is a prevailing tool for quality control of foods and traditional Chinese medicines. However, it usually faced the problems of severe peak overlap, low classification accuracy and poor specificity. In this work, the potential of carbon dot-tetramethoxyporphyrin nanocomposite-based nano-effect near-infrared spectroscopy sensor combined with chemometric method was investigated for the accurate identification lily from different geographical origins. Partial least squares-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) was used for differentiating geographical origins of lily based on the collected traditional and nano-effect near-infrared spectroscopy. Compared with traditional near-infrared spectroscopy, the nano-effect near-infrared spectroscopy obtains superior classification performance with 100% accuracy on the training and test set. The results showed that the proposed method based on near-infrared spectroscopy combined with nanocomposites and chemometrics could be considered as a promising tool for rapid discrimination of the authenticity of food and traditional Chinese medicine in the future.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Ethyl carbamate (EC) is a potentially toxic carcinogen produced during fermentation and storage of fermented foods, and many countries have set thresholds for its content in food. Therefore, sensitive, rapid and accurate detection of EC is meaningful to ensure the quality of fermented food. RESULTS: This study introduces a CdTe quantum dots/nano-5,10,15,20-tetrakis (4-methoxyphenyl)-porphyrin (nano TPP-OCH3 ) fluorescence sensor system detection of EC. The specificity of this sensing mainly relies on a photo-induced electron transfer and electrostatic force interaction between EC and nano TPP-OCH3 . This sensor presented a linear range of 10 to 1000 µg L-1 (R2  = 0.9903) with a low detection limit of 7.14 µg L-1 . Meanwhile, the recovery (91.19-101.09%) and precision [relative standard deviation (RSD) = 0.64-3.05%] of the sensor for the analysis of fermented food (yellow rice wine, soy sauce, Chinese spirits, Pu-erh tea) samples were good and could meet the requirements of practical detection. Moreover, the detection results of fermented food (yellow rice wine, soy sauce, Chinese spirits, Pu-erh tea) samples by this sensor are basically consistent with those of high-performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence detector (HPLC-FLD). CONCLUSION: This method was expected to provide a potential platform for sensitive and accurate detection of EC in food safety monitoring, which would provide knowledge of the flavor and quality related to fermented food. © 2021 Society of Chemical Industry.
