RESUMO

Dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of the main diseases that causes blindness in humans, and the number of cases is increasing yearly. However, effective treatments are unavailable, and arbutin (ARB) has been reported to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging effects in other age-related diseases. However, whether ARB can be used to treat dry AMD remains unknown. To explore the therapeutic potential and molecular mechanism of arbutin in the treatment of dry AMD. MTT assays, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production assays, flow cytometry assays, qPCR and western blotting were used to assess the impact of ARB on human RPECs induced by H2O2. A transcriptome sequencing assay was used to further explore how ARB acts on human RPECs treated with H2O2. Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) assays were used to observe the impact of ARB on mouse retina induced by sodium iodate. ARB counteracted the H2O2-induced reduction in human RPECs viability, ARB reversed H2O2-induced cellular ROS production by increasing the expression of antioxidant-related genes and proteins, ARB also reversed H2O2-induced cell apoptosis by altering the expression of apoptosis-related genes and proteins. Transcriptome sequencing and western blotting showed that ARB reduced ERK1/2 and P-38 phosphorylation to prevent H2O2-induced oxidation damage. The in vivo experiments demonstrated that ARB protected against retinal morphology injury in mice, increased serum T-AOC levels and increased antioxidant oxidase gene expression levels in the mouse retina induced by sodium iodate. We concluded that ARB reversed the H2O2-induced decrease in human RPECs viability through the inhibition of ROS production and apoptosis. The ERK1/2 and P38 MAPK signaling pathways may mediate this process. ARB maintained retinal morphology, increased serum T-AOC level and improved the expression of antioxidant oxidase genes in mice.

RESUMO

Rice paddy has been the main source of anthropogenic methane (CH4) emissions, with significant variations among rice varieties. 2-Acetyl-1-pyrroline (2-AP) is the key component of the pleasant aroma in fragrant rice. Here, we show that fragrant rice is metabolically active in nitrogen assimilation and exhibits high levels of 2-AP and that CH4 fluxes at the booting stage and cumulative emissions are 25.5% and 14.8% lower, respectively, in fragrant rice paddies compared with nonfragrant rice paddies. Three precursors involved in 2-AP synthesis-proline, glutamic acid, and ornithine-are identified as crucial nitrogen compounds that significantly promote CH4 oxidation in the rhizosphere. Augmenting 2-AP synthesis, either through foliar spraying or by utilizing CRISPR-Cas9 technology to generate knockout lines of BETAINE ALDEHYDE DEHYDROGENASE 2 gene, effectively enhances CH4 oxidation and reduces CH4 fluxes. Our findings reveal that the 2-AP metabolic pathway coordinates the carbon/nitrogen cycle to improve nitrogen assimilation along with high 2-AP levels and mitigate CH4 emissions in paddy ecosystems.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: 5-Aminolevulinic acid (ALA) recently received much attention due to its potential application in many fields such as medicine, nutrition and agriculture. Metabolic engineering is an efficient strategy to improve microbial production of 5-ALA. RESULTS: In this study, an ALA production strain of Escherichia coli was constructed by rational metabolic engineering and stepwise improvement. A metabolic strategy to produce ALA directly from glucose in this recombinant E. coli via both C4 and C5 pathways was applied herein. The expression of a modified hemARS gene and rational metabolic engineering by gene knockouts significantly improved ALA production from 765.9 to 2056.1 mg/L. Next, we tried to improve ALA production by RGMS-directed evolution of eamA gene. After RGMS, the ALA yield of strain A2-ASK reached 2471.3 mg/L in flask. Then, we aimed to improve the oxidation resistance of cells by overexpressing sodB and katE genes and ALA yield reached 2703.8 mg/L. A final attempt is to replace original promoter of hemB gene in genome with a weaker one to decrease its expression. After 24 h cultivation, a high ALA yield of 19.02 g/L was achieved by 108-ASK in a 5 L fermenter. CONCLUSIONS: These results suggested that an industrially competitive strain can be efficiently developed by metabolic engineering based on combined rational modification and optimization of gene expression.

RESUMO

Bacterial biofilms are associated with antibiotic resistance and account for approximately 80% of all bacterial infections. In this study, we explored novel nanomaterials for combating bacteria and their biofilms. Artemisinin nano-copper (ANC) was synthesised using a green synthesis strategy, and its shape, size, structure, elemental composition, chemical valence, zeta potential, and conductivity were characterised using transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometer, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, zeta potential, and dynamic light scattering (DLS). The results showed that ANC was successfully synthesised utilizing a liquid-phase chemical reduction method using chitosan as a modified protectant and l-ascorbic acid as a green reducing agent. The stability of ANC was evaluated using DLS. The results showed that the particle size of the ANC at different concentrations was comparable to that of the original solution after 7 days of storage, and there was no significant change in PDI (P > 0.05). The antibacterial effects of ANC on Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) were determined by Disk diffusion and broth dilution methods. The results demonstrated that ANC inhibited and killed E. coli and S. aureus. The effect of ANC on bacterial biofilms was investigated using Crystal Violet staining, scanning electron microscopy, laser confocal microscope, and quantitative PCR. The results showed that ANC treatment was able to destroy bacterial biofilms and downregulate biofilm- and virulence-related genes in E. coli (HlyA, gyrA, and F17) and S. aureus (cna, PVL, ClfA, and femB). Green-synthesised ANC possesses excellent anti-biofilm properties and is expected to exhibit antibacterial and anti-biofilm properties.

RESUMO

AIM: To analysis of research hotspots and trends on the application of premium intraocular lens (PIOLs) in the past 2 decades. METHODS: The literature search was performed on the Web of Science and included PIOLs studies published between January 2000 and December 2022. The retrieved literature was collated and analyzed by R-tool's Bibliometrix package, CitNetExplorer, CiteSpace and other software. RESULTS: A total of 1801 articles about PIOLs were obtained, most of which were published in Spain and the United States. The organization that published the most articles was the University of Valencia in Spain. Alió JL, and Montés-Micó R, from Spain were the most influential authors in this field. The Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and Journal of Refractive Surgery were the core journals for this field; the top 10 cited articles mainly focus on postoperative satisfaction with multifocal intraocular lens (IOLs) and postoperative results of toric IOLs. Through the keyword analysis, we found that trifocal IOLs, astigmatism and extended depth of focus (EDoF) IOLs are the most discussed topics at present, and the importance of astigmatism and the clinical application of the new generation of PIOLs are the emerging research trends. CONCLUSION: Bibliometric analysis can effectively help to identify multilevel concerns in PIOLs research and the prevailing research trends in the realm of PIOLs encompass the adoption of EDoF IOLs, trifocal IOLs, and their respective Toric models.

RESUMO

At present, the main treatment method for wet AMD is single anti-VEGF therapy, which can require multiple injections, is costly and may have poor efficacy. Studies and clinical experiments have shown that the oral Chinese medicine Xueshuantong combined with anti-VEGF therapy is more effective, and this study aims to explore the molecular mechanism. The TCMSP database was used to identify the main Xueshuantong components. The PubChem database and SWISS Target Prediction data were used to find the SMILES molecular formulas of compounds and corresponding target genes and disease-related genes were searched using the GEO, DisGeNET, and GeneCards databases. Venny was used to identify the intersecting wet AMD-related genes and Xueshuantong targets and Cytoscape software was used to construct direct links between the drug components and disease targets. Then, PPI networks were constructed using the STRING website. R software was used for GO and KEGG enrichment analyses. Cytoscape software was used for topological analyses, and AutoDock Vina v.1.1.2 software was used for molecular docking. 64 compounds corresponding to four drugs were found by the TCMSP database, 1001 total drug targets were found by the PubChem database, 607 wet AMD target genes were found by the GEO, DisGeNET, and GeneCards databases, and 87 Xueshuantong target genes for wet AMD were obtained. Then, by constructing the drug component and disease target network and PPI network, we found that the components closely interacted with VEGF, TNF, caspase 3, CXCL8, and AKT1, which suggested that the therapeutic effects might be related to the inhibition of neovascularization, inflammation, and AKT pathway. Then, GO enrichment analysis showed that the biological processes response to hypoxia, positive regulation of angiogenesis, and inflammatory response were enriched. KEGG enrichment results showed that the HIF-1 and pi3k-akt pathways may mediate the inhibition of wet AMD by Xueshuantong. Topological analysis results identified 10 key proteins, including VEGF, TNF, AKT1, and TLR4. The results of molecular docking also confirmed their strong binding to their respective compounds. In this study, it was confirmed that Xueshuantong could inhibit wet AMD by targeting VEGF, TNF, TLR4, and AKT1, multichannel HIF-1, and the PI3K-AKT pathway, which further proved the therapeutic effects of Xueshuantong combined with single anti-VEGF therapy on wet AMD and provided new insights into the study of novel molecular drug targets for the treatment of wet AMD.

RESUMO

Accurate segmentation of industrial CT images is of great significance in industrial fields such as quality inspection and defect analysis. However, reconstruction of industrial CT images often suffers from typical metal artifacts caused by factors like beam hardening, scattering, statistical noise, and partial volume effects. Traditional segmentation methods are difficult to achieve precise segmentation of CT images mainly due to the presence of these metal artifacts. Furthermore, acquiring paired CT image data required by fully supervised networks proves to be extremely challenging. To address these issues, this paper introduces an improved CycleGAN approach for achieving semi-supervised segmentation of industrial CT images. This method not only eliminates the need for removing metal artifacts and noise, but also enables the direct conversion of metal artifact-contaminated images into segmented images without the requirement of paired data. The average values of quantitative assessment of image segmentation performance can reach 0.96645 for Dice Similarity Coefficient(Dice) and 0.93718 for Intersection over Union(IoU). In comparison to traditional segmentation methods, it presents significant improvements in both quantitative metrics and visual quality, provides valuable insights for further research.

RESUMO

Bartter syndrome (BS, OMIM #601678) is a rare inherited salt-losing tubulopathy characterized by hypokalemia metabolic alkalosis with secondary renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system activation. As reported, BS type 1 is generally presented prenatal and neonatal period, and symptoms usually appear before and after birth or in infancy, accompanied by severe salt loss, whilst kidney function remains mostly normal. In this study, we report a case of BS type 1 with childhood onset and proteinuria and renal impairment. The child was born preterm due to hyperamniotic fluid, but there were no apparent symptoms after birth until the age of 3 when the child began to present with polydipsia, polyuria and increased nocturnal uria. At the age of 5, she had elevated serum creatinine level and proteinuria. After admission, she was diagnosed with chronic tubulointerstitial disease and stage 2 chronic kidney disease(CKD). According to the chloride clearance test, the abnormal function of medullary thick ascending limb Henle′s loop, was confirmed and BS type 1 was diagnosed by gene sequencing. After active management of complications, kidney function of the child improved. In the long-term follow-up, the urinary protein amount of the child still increased, eGFR slowly decreased, and the child was currently in the CKD2 stage. Children with prenatal BS may not present typical clinical manifestations immediately after birth until the onset of relevant clinical symptoms in childhood. BS type 1 patients may have renal impairment, which needs to be identified in time. Clinical differentiation diagnosis between BS and Gitelman syndrome can be made by chloride clearance tests. Early diagnosis and treatment are critical to improve prognosis.

RESUMO

The effective use of long-range information can yield improved network performance, which is very important for image restoration. Although local window-based models have linear complexity and can be feasibly applied to process high-resolution images, a single-scale window has a limited receptive field and is less efficient for encoding long-range context information. To address this issue, this paper presents a single-stage multiscale spatial rearrangement multilayer perceptron (MSSR-MLP) architecture that can obtain information at different scales within a local window. Specifically, we propose a simple and efficient spatial rearrangement module (SRM) that moves information outside the local window to the inside of the local window so that long-range dependencies can be modeled using only a window-based fully connected (FC) layer. The SRM can extend the local receptive field of a window-based FC layer without introducing additional parameters and FLOPs. Utilizing several spatial rearrangement modules with different step sizes, we design an efficient multiscale spatial rearrangement MLP architecture for image restoration. This design aggregates multiscale information to achieve improved restoration quality while maintaining a low computational cost. Extensive experiments conducted on several image restoration tasks demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of our method. For example, it requires only ~4.3% of the FLOPs needed by SwinIR for Gaussian gray image denoising, ~13.9% of the FLOPs needed by C2 PNet for single-image dehazing and ~18.9% of the FLOPs needed by MAXIM for single-image motion deblurring but achieves better performance on each of these restoration tasks.

RESUMO

The heavily human-perturbed coastal oceans are hotspots of nitrous oxide (N2O) emission to the atmosphere. The processes underpinning the N2O flux, however, remain poorly understood, leading to large uncertainties in assessing global N2O budgets. Using a suite of nitrogen isotope labeling experiments, we show that multiple processes contribute to N2O production throughout the estuarine-coastal gradient, sustaining intensive N2O flux to the atmosphere. Unexpectedly, denitrification, rather than ammonia oxidation as previously assumed, constitutes the major source of N2O in well-oxygenated coastal waters. Size-fractionated manipulation experiments with gene analysis further reveal niche partitioning of ammonia oxidizers and denitrifiers across the particle size spectrum; denitrification dominated on large particles and ammonia oxidizers on small particles. Total N2O production rate increases with substrate and particle concentrations, suggesting a crucial interplay between nutrients and particles in controlling N2O production. The controlling factors identified here may help understand climate feedback mechanisms between human activity and coastal oceans.

RESUMO

As of 2021, over 2.8 million small-incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) procedures have been performed in China. However, knowledge regarding the selection of intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation formula for post-SMILE cataract patients remains limited. This study included 52 eyes of 26 myopic patients from northern China who underwent SMILE at Tianjin Eye Hospital from September 2022 to February 2023 to investigate the suitability of multiple IOL calculation formulas in post-SMILE patients using a theoretical surgical model. We compared the postoperative results obtained from three artificial intelligence (AI)-based formulas and six conventional formulas provided by the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS). These formulas were applied to calculate IOL power using both total keratometry (TK) and keratometry (K) values, and the results were compared to the preoperative results obtained from the Barrett Universal II (BUII) formula for the SMILE patients. Among the evaluated formulas, the results obtained from the Emmetropia Verifying Optical 2.0 Formula with TK (EVO-TK) (0.40 ± 0.29 D, range 0-1.23 D), Barrett True K with K formula (BTK-K, 0.41 ± 0.26 D, range 0.01-1.19 D), and Masket with K formula (Masket-K, 0.44 ± 0.33 D, range 0.02-1.39 D) demonstrated the closest proximity to BUII. Notably, the highest proportion of prediction errors within 0.5 D was observed with the BTK-K (71.15%), EVO-TK (69.23%), and Masket-K (67.31%), with the BTK-K showing a significantly higher proportion than the Masket-K (p < 0.001). Our research indicates that in post-SMILE patients, the EVO-TK, BTK-K, and Masket-K may yield more accurate calculation results. At their current stage in development, AI-based formulas do not demonstrate significant advantages over conventional formulas. However, the application of historical data can enhance the performance of these formulas.

RESUMO

Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a large category of crucial environmental contaminants of global concerns. There are limited data on PFAS in surface water around international airports in China. The present study investigated the concentrations, distributions, and sources of emerging and legacy PFAS in surface waters around Beijing Capital International Airport (BC), Shanghai Pudong International Airport (SP), and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (GB) in China. Twenty-seven target compounds were quantified. The Σ27PFAS concentrations ranged from 19.0 to 62.8 ng/L (mean 36.1 ng/L) in BC, 25.6-342 ng/L (mean 76.0 ng/L) in SP, 7.35-72.7 ng/L (mean 21.6 ng/L) in GB. The dominant compound was perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), which accounted for an average of 27% (5%-65%) of the Σ27PFAS concentrations. The alternatives with -C6F12- group had detection frequencies ranging from 72% to 100%. The partition coefficient results indicate that the longer chain PFAS (C > 8) tend to be more distributed in the particle phase. Fifty suspect and nontarget PFAS were identified. In GB, 44 PFAS were identified, more than SP of 39 and BC of 38. An ultra short-chain (C = 2) precursor, N-methylperfluoroethanesulfonamido acetic acid (MeFEtSAA), was identified and semi-quantified. Domestic wastewater discharges might be the main sources around BC, while industrial and aviation activities might be the main sources around SP and GB.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: As the two most prevalent refractive surgeries in China, there is a substantial number of patients who have undergone Femtosecond Laser-assisted In Situ Keratomileusis (FS-LASIK) and Small Incision Lenticule Extraction (SMILE) procedures. However, there is still limited knowledge regarding the selection of intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation formulas for these patients with a history of FS-LASIK or SMILE. METHODS: A total of 100 eyes from 50 postoperative refractive surgery patients were included in this prospective cohort study, with 25 individuals (50 eyes) having undergone FS-LASIK and 25 individuals (50 eyes) having undergone SMILE. We utilized a theoretical surgical model to simulate the IOL implantation process in postoperative FS-LASIK and SMILE patients. Subsequently, we performed comprehensive biological measurements both before and after the surgeries, encompassing demographic information, corneal biometric parameters, and axial length. Various formulas, including the Barrett Universal II (BUII) formula, as a baseline, were employed to calculate IOL power for the patients. RESULTS: The Barrett True K (BTK) formula, demonstrated an mean absolute error (AE) within 0.5 D for both FS-LASIK and SMILE groups (0.28 ± 0.25 D and 0.36 ± 0.24 D, respectively). Notably, the FS-LASIK group showed 82% of results differing by less than 0.25 D compared to preoperative BUII results. The Barrett True K No History (BTKNH) formula, which also incorporates measured posterior corneal curvature, performed similarly to BTK in both groups. Additionally, the Masket formula, relying on refractive changes based on empirical experience, displayed promising potential for IOL calculations in SMILE patients compared with BTK (p = 0.411). CONCLUSION: The study reveals the accuracy and stability of the BTK and BTKNH formulas for IOL power calculations in myopic FS-LASIK/SMILE patients. Moreover, the Masket formula shows encouraging results in SMILE patients. These findings contribute to enhancing the predictability and success of IOL power calculations in patients with a history of refractive surgery, providing valuable insights for clinical practice. Further research and larger sample sizes are warranted to validate and optimize the identified formulas for better patient outcomes.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Arginase-1 (ARG1) promotes collagen synthesis and cell proliferation. ARG1 is highly expressed in various tumour cells. The mechanisms of ARG1 in epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-associated cataracts were studied herein. METHODS: C57BL/6 mice, a human lens epithelial cell line (HLEC-SRA01/04), and human lens capsule samples were used in this study. The right lens anterior capsule of the mouse eye was punctured through the central cornea with a 26-gauge hypodermic needle. Human lens epithelial cells (HLECs) were transfected with ARG1-targeted (siARG1) or negative control siRNA (siNC). For gene overexpression, HLECs were transfected with a plasmid bearing the ARG1 coding sequence or an empty vector. Medium containing 0.2% serum with or without transforming growth factor beta-2 (TGF-ß2) was added for 6 or 24 h to detect mRNA or protein, respectively. The expression of related genes was measured by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR), western blotting, and immunohistochemical staining. Transwell assays and wound healing assays were used to determine cell migration. Cell proliferation, superoxide levels, nitric oxide (NO) levels, and arginase activity were estimated using Cell Counting Kit-8 assays, a superoxide assay kit, an NO assay kit, and an arginase activity kit. RESULTS: ARG1, alpha-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), fibronectin, and Ki67 expression increased after lens capsular injury, while zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1) expression decreased. Fibronectin and collagen type I alpha1 chain (collagen 1A1) expression increased, and cell migration increased significantly in ARG1-overexpressing HLECs compared with those transfected with an empty vector after TGF-ß2 treatment. These effects were reversed by ARG1 knockdown. The arginase-related pathway plays an important role in EMT. mRNAs of enzymes of the arginase-related pathway were highly expressed after ARG1 overexpression. ARG1 knockdown suppressed these expression changes. Numidargistat (CB-1158) dihydrochloride (CB-1158), an ARG1 inhibitor, suppressed TGF-ß2-induced anterior subcapsular cataract (ASC) by reducing the proliferation of lens epithelial cells (LECs) and decreasing fibronectin, α-SMA, collagen 1A1, and vimentin expression. Compared with that in nonanterior subcapsular cataract (non-ASC) patients, the expression of ARG1, collagen 1A1, vimentin, fibronectin, and Ki67 was markedly increased in ASC patients. CONCLUSIONS: ARG1 can regulate EMT in EMT-associated cataracts. Based on the pathogenesis of ASC, these findings are expected to provide new therapeutic strategies for patients.

Fibrotic cataracts can be classified as anterior subcapsular cataract or posterior capsular opacification depending on where fibrosis occurs. The mechanism of fibrotic cataracts is not fully understood. Fibrotic opacities induced by trauma, inflammation, or radiation can accumulate underneath the anterior lens capsule, causing anterior subcapsular cataract. Posterior capsular opacification is one of the most common complications of phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation, with a high incidence in young patients. We show for the first time that ARG1 can regulate EMT in fibrotic cataracts. TGF-ß2 is the main cause of fibrosis in LECs. The expression of ARG1 and fibronectin in LECs increased after TGF-ß2 treatment or mouse lens capsular injury. We investigated the specific molecular mechanisms by which ARG1 regulates EMT in fibrotic cataracts. The mRNA expression of enzymes of the arginase-related pathway was decreased due to knockdown of ARG1 expression in HLECs. These effects were reversed by ARG1 overexpression. Additionally, knockdown of ARG1 decreased collagen 1A1, fibronectin, and vimentin expression; superoxide levels; and cell migration and increased NO levels. These effects were reversed by ARG1 overexpression. Pharmacological blockade of the ARG1 pathway with CB-1158 reduced the proliferation of LECs and decreased fibronectin, α-SMA, collagen 1A1, and vimentin expression in mouse lenses. We believe that ARG1 promotes the production of collagen 1A1 by directly activating the arginase pathway and leads to lens fibrosis by reducing NO production and increasing superoxide levels, providing a new mechanism for the prevention and treatment of fibrotic cataracts. RESUMO

With the advent of the 5G era, radio frequency identification (RFID) has been widely applied in various fields as one of the key technologies for the Internet of Things (IoT) to realize the Internet of Everything (IoE). In recent years, RFID-based motion sensing has emerged as an important research area with great potential for development. In this paper, an RFID backscatter sport motion sensing scheme is proposed, which effectively solves the multi-classification problem by using the received signal strength (RSS) of the backscattered RFID and the error correcting output coding (ECOC)-based support vector machine (SVM). We conduct extensive experiments to validate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, in which the signal intensities of different types of action poses are collected and the SVM is used as the classification algorithm to achieve high classification accuracies.

RESUMO

Large field-of-view optical imaging systems often face challenges in the presence of space-variant degradation. The existence of degradation leads to target detection and recognition being difficult or even unsuccessful. To address this issue, this paper proposes an adaptive anisotropic pixel-by-pixel space-variant correction method. First, we estimated region acquisition of local space-variant point spread functions (PSFs) based on Haar wavelet degradation degree distribution, and obtained initial PSF matrix estimation with inverse distance weighted spatial interpolation. Then, we established a pixel-by-pixel space-variant correction model based on the PSF matrix. Third, we imposed adaptive sparse regularization terms of the Haar wavelet based on the adaptive anisotropic iterative reweight strategy and non-negative regularization terms as the constraint in the pixel-by-pixel space-variant correction model. Finally, as the correction process is refined to each pixel, the split-Bregman multivariate separation solution algorithm was employed for the pixel-by-pixel spare-variant correction model to estimate the final PSF matrix and the gray value of each pixel. Through this algorithm, the "whole image correction" and "block correction" is avoided, the "pixel-by-pixel correction" is realized, and the final corrected images are obtained. Experimental results show that compared with the current advanced correction methods, the proposed approach in the space-variant wide field correction of a degraded image shows better performance in preserving the image details and texture information.

RESUMO

Thermal radiation effects can greatly degrade the image quality of uncooled infrared focal plane array detection systems. In this paper, we propose a thermal radiation effect correction network based on intra-block pyramid cross-scale feature extraction and fusion. First, an intra-block pyramid residual attention module is introduced to obtain fine-grained features from long-range IR images by extracting cross-scale local features within the residual block. Second, we propose a cross-scale gated fusion module to efficiently integrate the shallow and abstract features at multiple scales of the encoder and decoder through gated linear units. Finally, to ensure accurate correction of thermal radiation effects, we add double-loss constraints in the spatial-frequency domain and construct a single-input, multi-output network with multiple supervised constraints. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art correction methods in terms of both visual quality and quantitative evaluation metrics.

RESUMO

The dynamic characteristics of electric drive systems are crucial in electric vehicles. Based on the dynamic finite element method and previous studies, this study proposes and analyzes a new mathematical model for a motor longitudinally mounted on a centralized electric drive system of a pure electric vehicle. First, we analyze the largest torque ripple of a fractional slot concentrated winding inner-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor designed for commercial electric vehicles. This torque ripple is identified as one of the excitations influencing the dynamic performance of the electric drive system. Second, a new dynamic mathematical model for the electric drive system is established. Third, we investigate the linear vibration responses of the system subject to torque ripple and transmission error. Finally, the relationships between critical motor parameters and dynamic mesh force are revealed. The results demonstrate that the proposed theoretical method can effectively determine the dynamic characteristics of the electric drive system, thereby providing valuable theoretical guidance for the design and optimization of the motor and electric drive system.

RESUMO

Background: Chronic ankle instability (CAI) is a common sports injury disease and characterized by limited mobility, perceived instability and muscle weakness, combined treatment of hip-knee-ankle is a common rehabilitation method. Tuina, as a traditional Chinese manual therapy, is usually used for CAI, but many of them only focus on the local ankle joint rather than the combination of hip and knee joint. Therefore, we have designed a randomized controlled trial (RCT) to investigate the effects of Tuina base on the concept of hip-knee-ankle conjugation on the stability and balance of lower limbs and ankle function in patients with CAI. Methods: We have designed a randomized controlled trial. A total of 72 participants with CAI will be randomly divided into functional training groups and hip-knee-ankle Tuina combined with functional training group in a 1:1 ratio. Participants in control group will receive 8 sessions of functional training (30 min per session, twice a week for 4 weeks). Participants in intervention group will receive 8 sessions of Tuina combined with functional training (twice a week for 4 weeks). The primary outcomes include the Y-Balance Test (YBT) and Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool (CAIT). The Secondary outcomes include the Foot and Ankle Ability Measure (FAAM) and ankle range of motion (ROM). The outcome assessments will be conducted before the first intervention and after the last intervention. Discussion: The aim of this study is to explore a safe and effective manipulation program and serve as reference for clinical treatment of CAI and expect to provide the necessary theoretical and practical support to our future research. Clinical Trial Registration: Chinese Clinical Trail Registry ChiCTR2300068274.

RESUMO

Traumatic optic neuropathy (TON) is a severe condition characterized by retinal ganglion cell (RGC) death, often leading to irreversible vision loss, and the death of RGCs is closely associated with oxidative stress. Unfortunately, effective treatment options for TON are lacking. To address this, catalase (CAT) is encapsulated in a tannic acid (TA)/poly(ethylenimine)-crosslinked hollow nanoreactor (CAT@PTP), which exhibited enhanced anchoring in the retina due to TA-collagen adhesion. The antioxidative activity of both CAT and TA synergistically eliminated reactive oxygen species (ROS) to save RGCs in the retina, thereby treating TON. In vitro experiments demonstrated that the nanoreactors preserve the enzymatic activity of CAT and exhibit high adhesion to type I collagen. The combination of CAT and TA-based nanoreactors enhanced ROS elimination while maintaining high biocompatibility. In an optic nerve crush rat model, CAT@PTP is effectively anchored to the retina via TA-collagen adhesion after a single vitreous injection, and RGCs are significantly preserved without adverse events. CAT@PTP exhibited a protective effect on retinal function. Given the abundance of collagen that exists in ocular tissues, these findings may contribute to the further application of this multifunctional nanoreactor in ocular diseases to improve therapeutic efficacy and reduce adverse effects.
