RESUMO

Supporting teacher education in Tanzania has long been a common practice implemented by both local institutions and development partners. Despite a huge investment that has been dedicated to improve teacher education in Tanzania, a lot remains unclear on how direct beneficiaries perceive their engagement with the project activities including the milestones achieved by the implemented projects in teacher colleges (TCs). This article presents data on the experience of pre-service teachers (N = 2,772) participating in the Teacher Education Support Project (TESP), a project collaboratively implemented by the Governments of Tanzania and Canada. In this cross-sectional survey, data was collected from all the 35 public TCs in the Tanzania Mainland from May to August 2021. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted coupled with Monte-Carlo parallel analysis to examine the factor structure of the questionnaire alongside the descriptive analysis of pre-service teachers' responses. The data covers four dimensions of the project services delivered to TCs, including library facilities, teaching and learning materials, science and ICT support as well as teaching and learning methods employed by tutors following TESP intervention. Broadly, useful insights that enlighten the progress made by the TESP so far are presented to stimulate the debate on how to successfully implement a development project geared towards strengthening teacher education in Tanzania and elsewhere. The presented data provides opportunity for educational researchers, teacher educators, policymakers, and curriculum developers to rethink on the key areas that need immediate attention to enhance the important work of preparing teachers in TCs in Tanzania and possibly beyond.

In this paper, a mathematical model is proposed and analysed to assess the impacts of health care providers in transmission dynamics of COVID-19. The stability theory of differential equations is used to examine a mathematical model. The results of both local and global stability of disease-free equilibrium points were determined by using Routh-Hurwitz criteria and Metzler matrix method which verified that was locally and globally asymptotically stable. Also, the endemic equilibrium point was determined by the Lyapunov function which showed that E ∗ was globally asymptotically stable under strict conditions. The findings revealed that non-diagnosed and undetected health care providers seems to contribute to high spread of COVID-19 in a community. Also, it illustrates that an increase in the number of non-diagnostic testing rates of health care providers may result in high infection rates in the community and contaminations of hospitals' equipment. Therefore, the particular study recommend that there is a necessity of applying early diagnostic testing to curtail the COVID-19 transmission in the health care providers' community and reduce contaminations of hospital's equipment.

The outbreak of COVID-19 was first experienced in Wuhan City, China, during December 2019 before it rapidly spread over globally. This paper has proposed a mathematical model for studying its transmission dynamics in the presence of face mask wearing and hospitalization services of human population in Tanzania. Disease-free and endemic equilibria were determined and subsequently their local and global stabilities were carried out. The trace-determinant approach was used in the local stability of disease-free equilibrium point while Lyapunov function technique was used to determine the global stability of both disease-free and endemic equilibrium points. Basic reproduction number, R0 , was determined in which its numerical results revealed that, in the presence of face masks wearing and medication services or hospitalization as preventive measure for its transmission, R0=0.698 while in their absence R0=3.8 . This supports its analytical solution that the disease-free equilibrium point E0 is asymptotically stable whenever R0<1 , while endemic equilibrium point E∗ is globally asymptotically stable for R0>1 . Therefore, this paper proves the necessity of face masks wearing and hospitalization services to COVID-19 patients to contain the disease spread to the population.

In this paper, a deterministic compartmental eco- epidemiological model with optimal control of Newcastle disease (ND) in Tanzania is proposed and analysed. Necessary conditions of optimal control problem were rigorously analysed using Pontryagin's maximum principle and the numerical values of model parameters were estimated using maximum likelihood estimator. Three control strategies were incorporated such as chicken vaccination (preventive), human education campaign and treatment of infected human (curative) and its' impact were graphically observed. The incremental cost effectiveness analysis technique used to determine the most cost effectiveness strategy and we observe that combination of chicken vaccination and human education campaign strategy is the best strategy to implement in limited resources. Therefore, ND can be controlled if the farmers will apply chicken vaccination properly and well in time.
