Treatment of vascular disease caused by vibration.

Vascular diseases caused by vibration are treated by different methods. We ourselves applied in our patients subcutaneous injections of hot-spring gas, per os prazosin (postsynaptic blocker of alpha-sympathetic receptors) which except for its vasodilatory effect improves the rheologic qualities of blood). Subcutaneous injections of hot-spring gas were administered to 31 males aged 32 to 67 years (average 50.58 years) for 15 days, Prazosin VUFB to 12 males aged 33 to 64 years (average 47.8 years) for 28 days and pentoxifylline (Agapurin SPOFA) to 20 males aged 29 to 69 years (average 46.35 years) for 28 days. Simultaneous nervous disease caused by vibration was present in 12 patients, articular affections caused by vibration in 10 patients, and disease of peripheral nerves and joints in 16 patients. The subjective complaints were influenced mostly by hotspring gas, the cold water test by prazosin, the skin temperature and plethysmogram by pentoxifylline. When evaluating the number of favourably influenced indicators pentoxifylline is the most successful. Tolerance of all three methods proved to be good.

[Evaluation of the effect of cadmium exposure in a worker in Ni-Cd storage battery production by biological tests in vivo and the cadmium content of tissues postmortem]. / Auswertung des Einflusses der Exposition gegenüber Cadmium bei einem Werktätigen in der Ni-Cd-Akkumulatoren-Produktion anhand biologischer Tests in vivo und des Cadmiumgehalts in den Geweben post mortem.

The paper deals with the case of a 49 years old man having been exposed to cadmium in the production of alkaline Ni-Cd accumulators for a long period. It presents and compares the results of some years lasting biological monitoring of the exposition in vivo (beta 2 microglobulin in urine and serum, Cd in urine, blood, serum and hair, Zn in urine, serum and hair, Ni in urine and hair, alpha 1 antitrypsin in serum, dehydratase activity of delta-aminolevulinic acid in blood, cholinesterase activity in blood, etc., with the Cd concentrations found out in the tissues post mortem (nail 12 micrograms/g, cerebrum 0.4 microgram/g, lungs 19 micrograms/g, liver 165 micrograms/g, kidneys 245 micrograms/g). The Cd contents in the tissue were significantly increased compared with the non-exposed population and in fact, they confirmed the data and conclusions from the biological monitoring in vivo signalling the light tubular renal impairment as the most significant symptom of the exposition.

The authors have watched more than 300 workers of various fodder manufactures in allergological, immunological and clinical way. The findings have been evaluated to the part of the exposition, hygiene and professional allergens. The symptoms of the latent sensitisation so as clinical symptoms after longer time of employment give evidence about a great importance and higher biological activity of the most fodders of modern farming and about new possibilities of the professional allergisation.
