RESUMO
Therapeutic effect of liposomal dosages of rifampicin and prodigiozan was studied on rabbits with simulated chronic tonsillitis in comparison to that of commercial ones of the drugs. The treatment schemes included daily intra-tonsillar++ injections of the dosage forms for 5 days. A high efficacy of their liposomal dosage forms in treatment of experimental chronic tonsillitis was confirmed microbiologically and immunologically. Approval of the liposomal dosage forms used in the therapy of patients with chronic tonsillitis requires clinical trials.

Clinical and immunological examinations of 360 patients with chronic tonsillitis and 286 patients suffering from systemic complications of chronic tonsillitis at various post-tonsillectomy stages demonstrated that the major immunopathological factor in the case of chronic compensated tonsillitis was microbial allergy and in the case of chronic decompensated tonsillitis, autoimmune disorders. The high titer of autoantibodies to tonsillar antigen that persisted at various post-tonsillectomy stages made it necessary to use systemic immune correction as part of therapy of chronic tonsillitis.

The possibility of using ectericide, having antibacterial, detergent, antioxidative, and reparative effects, as a dispersion medium for liposome production has been studied. Its application allows for elaboration of a simplified liposome production technique simultaneously imparting them stability against oxidation, heating, and pH changes. A technology to produce multivesicular liposomes with ectericide++, containing rifampicin in the membranous envelope and gentamicin in the inner volume, has been developed. Liposomal antibiotics proved to be effective in clinical trials.
