RESUMO

The report deals with an assessment of frequency of fatal thromboembolic complications after surgery for breast cancer, in particular, frequency and severity of the side-effects of calcium nadroparin treatment as a component of surgical preparation. Considering the low incidence of thromboembolic complications in such patients and the side-effects of anti-coagulant therapy, it is suggested that decisions be made on a strictly individual basis under stringent clinical control.

RESUMO

The basic immunological indexes were investigated in patients with disseminated colorectal cancer after conduction of magnetothermia and chemotherapy using fluorouracil. Control group consisted of 11 patients, to whom monotherapy with fluorouracil was prescribed. The modifying action of magnetothermia alleviates significantly the immunodepressive effect of cytostatic drugs.

RESUMO

On the basis of the results of treatment of 87 patients with skin melanoma, the expediency of lymphadenectomy performance irrespective of the fact whether the regional lymph nodes were, or were not palpated was substantiated. Performance of this operation permitted 3-fold reduction of lethality.

RESUMO

In the clinic, a method for prophylaxis of postoperative intestinal paresis with the use of local consecutive electroimpulse influencing upon the zones--pacemakers of the small and large intestine by a current with a frequency corresponding to the physiologic frequency of contractions of a given intestinal segment at the time corresponding to the physiologic one in restoration of motor activity of the intestine have been developed. Electric stimulation of a pacemaker contributes to organization and synchronization of activity of the neural ganglia and amplification of their myoelectrical signal. As a result, the activity of proximal pacemakers predominates over that of the distal ones and contributes to restoration of a gradient of propulsive activity. The method was employed in 53 patients. The time of restoration of peristaltic and propulsive functions of the intestine corresponded to the physiologically substantiated time.

RESUMO

In 1972-1988 487 (5.35%) of patients were hospitalized in a Ukrainian SSR Proctological Center for chronic colostasis; 243 (49.8%) were operated on due to developing decompensation of the large intestine and failed multicomponent conservative treatment and invalidism. 244 patients admitted to the clinic were conservatively treated. A scheme of conservative treatment used in the clinic is described.

RESUMO

The authors studied the epidemiological situation in a surgical clinic on the basis of examination of 12,000 case histories in the course of several years. Microbiological examinations were carried out of 1438 samples with the purpose of assessing the microbial picture of the wounds of patients and all factors of the environment which could participate in infection due to pathogens of conventional nature. The most frequent pathogens of the wounds were staphylococci--65.6 +/- 6.0%. In the course of observation one established a continuous chain of infections due to presence of sources of pathogens of wound infections, the carriers of which were medical staff, medical students and patients in 19 +/- 2.8%.
