RESUMO
[reaction: see text] The stereochemistry of the thermal conversion of alkenylbenzocyclobutenol into dihydronaphthalene was studied. Experiments on the substrates IV, in which two oxy functions are cis, often resulted in the formation of abnormal products in view of the orbital consideration.
