RESUMO

Heteroatom-fused π-conjugated molecules have attracted considerable attention, and various elements for such fusion have been investigated. Herein, we focused on pnictogen-fused heterofluorenes. The structures, reactivity with O2 and I2, coordination ability to AuCl, and photophysical properties were systematically studied to better understand the effects of pnictogen atoms on the nature of π-conjugated molecules.

RESUMO

The Stille coupling reaction is one of the most important coupling reactions. It is well known that the triphenylarsine ligand can accelerate the reaction rate of Stille coupling. However, other arsine ligands have never been investigated for the Stille coupling reaction so far. In this work, we prepared 13 kinds of C3-symmetrical tertiary arsine ligands and discovered that tri(p-anisyl)arsine is the best ligand for the reaction of tributylvinyltin and p-iodoanisole. The reaction mechanism was studied by dispersion-corrected density functional theory calculations to demonstrate the energetic feasibility of the Stille coupling reactions mediated by tri(p-anisyl)arsine.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (EGPA) is a group of systemic disorders characterized by inflammation of blood vessels and eosinophilia. Simultaneous brain and splenic infarcts are extremely rare in patients with EGPA. CASE DESCRIPTION: We report a case of a 61-year-old male with a history of asthma and sinusitis who presented with paresthesia and purpura in the lower extremities. Eosinophilia and positive Myeloperoxidase-anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody were present and the diagnosis of EGPA was confirmed. Multiple bilateral cerebral and cerebellar infarcts and splenic infarction were detected. Although there was evidence of myocarditis, no cardiac thrombus was detected. Immunosuppressive and anticoagulation therapy were provided. The patient was fully recovered. CONCLUSIONS: EGPA can present as splenic infarction and ischemic stroke. Prompt diagnosis and treatment with anticoagulant and immunosuppressive agents may lead to good prognosis.

RESUMO

Efficient catalytic arsa-Wittig reactions have been developed by using 1-phenylarsolane as a catalyst. A wide array of aldehydes was converted to the corresponding olefins in high yields with moderate to excellent E stereoselectivity in the presence of a catalytic amount of 1-phenylarsolane. Moreover, density functional theory calculations were carried out to afford insight into the E/Z selectivity.
