RESUMO
The investigation involved 22 reproductive and menopausal women (aged 30-48) with atypical endometrial hyperplasia. In addition to general clinical examination, all the patients underwent ultrasound scanning of the organs of the small pelvis, hysteroscopy and diagnostic curettage for morphological examination both before and after treatment. All tissue samples taken before and after treatment were assayed for cytoplasmic and plasma-membrane receptor levels and a number of biochemical parameters of plasma membranes. Hormone therapy with prolonged-release gestagen-based drugs pointed to changes which occurred in: (1) sex steroid reception at cytosol and plasma-membrane levels; (2) the lipids profile of plasma membranes, and (3) activity of membrane-related enzymes. Among the beneficial results of gestagen treatment was coming most of lipid profile parameters and plasma-membrane enzymes back to normal. However, a decrease in the progesterone reception level in target tissue after 3-6 month treatment may suggest a likelihood of development of tolerance to gestagen. The data also suggest that further research continue in this area of endometrial precancer.

Twenty-six women aged 41 to 73 with clinical and morphologic forms of endometrial precancer were examined by transvaginal ultrasonic scanning. This method was employed both in the diagnosis and monitoring of the efficacy of hormone therapy. The final diagnosis was made on the basis of histologic examination of endometrial scrapings-off. The results evidence that transvaginal echography is a sufficiently informative method for the diagnosis of this condition and for monitoring the endometrial status over the course of hormonal therapy. The mean size of M-echo in the postmenopause was established: 2.35 +/- 0.07 mm in health or not imaged in endometrial atrophy. M-echo thickness of 11 +/- 0.02 mm may be indicative of the therapy inefficacy or endometrial hyperplasia, and the thickness of 8.7 +/- 0.7 mm indicates polyposis.

Immunological examinations of 357 patients with mixed arthritis, coxarthrosis and aseptic necrosis of the femoral head have revealed substantial immunopathological deviations requiring immunomodulation and influencing surgical outcomes, with inhibition or dysfunction of T and B cellular reactions, inversion of the regulatory index, remarkable autoimmune component, and bacterial sensitization in a considerable part of the examined. In addition to the conventional immunomodulating agents (levamisole, thymalin, T-activin, sodium nucleinate), it is recommended that hemodes and polyglucin may be used, provided they are chosen individually in vitro. The use of ELISA made it possible to reveal a direct strong correlation between the level of antibodies to glycolipid cartilaginous antigen and arteparon as well as a decrease of the number of antibodies in therapeutic administration of the drug. This suggests the immunological mechanisms of the action of arteparon, namely according to the principle of hapten inhibition.

Experiments on Wistar male rats established that electrostimulation of the area of the posterior hypothalamic nuclei 2.5 months after administration of 7,12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene into the femur muscle restrained to a considerable extent the inhibitory effect of the carcinogen on the immune reactivity. The reactivity was estimated by the amount of antibody-forming and rosette-forming cells in the spleen, thymus, lymph nodes and by the activity of DNA synthesis in the cells of these organs. The effect of hypothalamus electrostimulation may be a determinant in the mechanism of the inhibitory action of chemical carcinogenesis.
